ずいぶんと久しぶりに写真をアップロードした。

というのも、IXY25ISのカメラを手放してしまったから。

けれども、どうしてもまた、このカメラで撮りたい気持ちを抑えきれず、再び手にすることに決めた。

もう二度と手放さない。

This is because I had given up my IXY25IS camera.

However, I couldn't stop myself from wanting to take pictures with this camera again, so I decided to pick it up again.

I will never give it up again.

暖かい日の昼休みに、会社から抜け出して公園に行った。 平日の公園は人も少なくてとても静かだった。 古くて小さいカメラだけど、写真を数枚撮るだけで、日頃のストレスをほんの少しの時間忘れることができる。 今度は堤防に青空を見上げに行こう、珈琲とサンドイッチを持って。

During my lunch break on a warm day, I snuck out of the office and went to the park. The park was very quiet on a weekday with few people. It's an old, small camera, but just taking a few pictures helps me forget my daily stress for a few moments. Next time I'll go to the embankment to look up at the blue sky with a cup of coffee and a sandwich.

空が青い。

毎日続く暑さにかなりうんざりしながら、どちらかと言うと俯き加減に歩く。

太陽に頭を押さえられているかのように。

あまりにも陽射しがキツくて、空を見上げると目が痛くなるほどだ。

それでも、夏は青空が気持ちいい。

空が青いと言うだけで、カメラを向けてしまう。

The sky is blue.

I am rather fed up with the heat that continues every day, and I walk with my head down.

It's as if the sun is holding my head down.

The sun is so strong that it hurts my eyes when I look up at the sky.

Still, the blue sky feels good in summer.

Just the fact that the sky is blue makes me turn my camera on it.

写真を撮るようになってから、光と影に興味が惹かれるようになった。 それに、色が加わったりすると、カメラを向けるに決まっている。 そんなときに使うカメラはできるだけ小さいほうが良い。 ポケットに収まるくらい、小さなカメラが良い。 いや、やっぱり違うな。 カメラをぶら下げて、光と影を探しながら歩く勇気が僕には無いだけだ。

Ever since I started taking pictures, I've been intrigued by light and shadow. And when color is added to the mix, I am bound to turn my camera on. The camera I use in such situations should be as small as possible. A camera small enough to fit in my pocket is good. No, that's still not right. I just don't have the courage to walk around with a big camera hanging from me, looking for light and shadow.

早く目が覚めてしまった日曜日。 なんとなく電車で向かった先は、新世界。 朝の6時半に降り立った街は、ひと気もまばら。 この街に来たらまずはシンボルマークの通天閣を撮らねばいけない。 毎回同じようなアングルで、同じような写真を撮っているなあ。 世界が変わってから、この街に来たのは初めてだ。 間違いなく、この街の空気も変わった。 休日の早朝とはいえ、現在漂う空気はインバウンドで賑やかだった頃とは全く違う。 I woke up early on Sunday. I took the train to Shinsekai. When I got off the train at 6:30 in the morning, the town was sparsely populated. The first thing I had to do when I arrived here was to take a picture of Tsutenkaku, the symbol of this town. Every time I come here, I take the same picture from the same angle. This is the first time I've been to this city since the world changed. Without a doubt, the atmosphere of this city has changed. Even though it was early in the morning on a holiday, the current atmosphere was completely different from the days when the city was bustling with inbound tourists.

夏は夕ぐれ

『春はあけぼの』で始まるのは枕草子だ。 枕草子で言えば、『夏は夜』になる。 日中これだけ暑くて、しかも都会はほとんどがアスファルトかコンクリートなので、夜になっても気温が下がるにしてもたかが知れている。 とはいえ、確かに夜のほうがはるかに過ごしやすくなる。 けれど、日が沈むのが遅い夏のほうが夕焼けの写真を撮るチャンスは多い。 仕事を終えた後でも、まだ夕ぐれの時間に間に合う。 清少納言が薦める夕ぐれの季節は『秋』 実際、空気が澄んでくる季節のほうが夕焼けもきれいなのだが、仕事終わりの時間ではもう遅い。 まさにつるべ落としのごとくだ。 そんなわけで、僕にとっては『夏は夕ぐれ』なのだ。

法隆寺に行った。

京都はとてもコンパクトで、観光には便利な街だ。 ところが奈良は広い。 一日で見て回るのは至難の業だ。 今回の法隆寺も、とても広いお寺。 とても暑い日だったこともあって、すべてを見て回ることを諦めた。 秋から冬に、また行こう。

今使っているこのカメラは、35mmスタートのズームレンズを搭載している。 僕はあまりズーム機能を使わないので、35mmの画角で撮影することが多い。 正直、僕はこの35mmが苦手だ。 切り取るには広いし、風景を撮るには少し狭い。 もうこればっかりは慣れて使いこなしてゆくしかない。 The canon ixy25is has a zoom lens with a 35mm start. I don't use the zoom function very often, so I tend to shoot with a 35mm angle of view. To be honest, I'm not very good at 35mm. It's too wide for cropping and a little narrow for shooting landscapes. But I'll have to get used to it and learn to use it.

このサイトで使っている、Canon IXY25isというカメラは、画素数は1000万だし、センサーサイズも1/2.3だ。 詳しく調べていないけれど、同じく僕が使っているiPhoneSEのほうがカメラ性能は上だろうな。 実際、iPhoneのほうが簡単に撮れちゃうし、かなりきれいだし、なによりSNSにあげるなら、そのスピードは断然カメラより上を行く。

それでもこのカメラを使う理由って何？

このカメラは小さいし、とても軽い。 ポケットから取り出して、電源を入れて、液晶モニターで構図を確かめてからシャッターボタンを押す。 そしてまたポケットに戻す。 Wi-Fiは付いてないから、SDカードからデータを読み込む必要がある。 lightroomで、オリジナルのプリセットのどれが一番合うかと悩む。 そんな一連の作業がすきだから、iPhoneではなくカメラで写真を撮るんだよね。

The camera I use on this site, the Canon IXY25is, has 10 million pixels and a 1/2.3 sensor size. I haven't looked into it in detail, but I'm sure the iPhone SE, which I'm also using, has a better camera. In fact, it's easier to take pictures with the iPhone, it's much more beautiful, and most importantly, when it comes to posting pictures on social networking sites, the speed is definitely better than the camera.

Why do I still use this camera?

This camera is small and very light. I take it out of my pocket, turn it on, check the composition on the LCD monitor, and press the shutter button. Then I put it back in my pocket. It doesn't have Wi-Fi, so you need to load the data from the SD card. In Adobe's lightroom, I try to figure out which of my original presets fits best. I like that kind of process, which is why I take pictures with a camera instead of an iPhone.

ここ1年程、ドライフラワーが好きになってしまった。 自分の年齢を重ねるにつれて、枯れた物に愛着がわいてくるのかもしれない。 ドライフラワー然り、街で朽ちてゆく自転車然り、錆の浮いた鉄橋など。 お店で生花を買ってきて、自分でドライフラワーを作る。 本当はそうしたいのだが、今はそこまでなかなか手が回らない。 だから、ドライフラワーのサブスクリプションを利用している。 毎月一回送られてくるのが楽しみだ。 あ、そうだ、ドライフラワーの良い所は長い時間楽しめることでもある。 最後のバラのドライフラワーは、父の日のプレゼントで娘からもらったバラを部屋の片隅で枯れさせたものだ。 なんとなく香りが他のドライフラワーより良い気がする。 Lately, I've fallen in love with dried flowers. Dried flowers, decaying bicycles in the city, rusty railroad bridges, etc. I would like to buy fresh flowers at the store and make dried flowers by myself. I'd really like to do that, but I don't have the time to do that right now. That's why I'm using a subscription service for dried flowers. I'm looking forward to getting them sent to me once a month. Oh, yes, the good thing about dried flowers is that you can enjoy them for a long time. The last dried flower is a rose that my daughter gave me for Father's Day, and I let it wither in a corner of the room. Somehow, I think the scent is better than other dried flowers.

むしろ記録として。 カフェやレストランなど、ついつい食べ物や飲み物の写真を撮ってしまう。 iPhoneやカメラで。 それは決して作品としてではなく、記録？記憶？のため。 それなのに、光の加減や構図を一応気にしてしまうから笑ってしまう。 ところで、お店で写真を撮るときに気になるのがシャッター音。 特に、iPhoneのシャッター音は大きい。（どうも日本だけの仕様らしいが） そんなこともあって、サイレントシャッターが使えるかどうかをカメラを買う際の基準のひとつにしている。 I take pictures of the food and drinks I order at cafes and restaurants. 家から10分歩いたら、河川敷に着く。 ランニングがルーティーンだった頃は、2つの橋を渡る周回コースを飽きもせず走っていたっけ。 身近にあるからというだけじゃなく、歩くにしても走るにしても写真を撮るにしても、淀川へ来る理由は広い空を見ることができるから。 都会の空はだいたいが狭い。 ビルがあったり、電線が走りまくっていたりして。 だから空を見上げることもなくむしろ下を向いて足早に通り過ぎてしまう。 でも時々は、上を向いて、広い空を眺めたほうが気持ちいいじゃん。 広い空を見上げて、小さなカメラで見飽きた風景を撮る。 そんな行為が僕のストレスを軽くしてくれるんだよね。 A ten-minute walk from my house brings me to the riverbed. But sometimes, it's nice to look up and see the wide open sky. Looking up at the wide open sky and taking pictures of the scenery that I am tired of seeing with my small camera. Such an act lightens my stress, doesn't it?

コンパクトカメラのフラッシュを使うと、懐かしい雰囲気の写真が撮れるような気がして不思議だ。 でも、オートモードで使っていると、カメラが勝手に明るさを判断して、フラッシュを焚いちゃうから、暗くなってくると必ずフラッシュをオフにする。 だって、周りの人を驚かせることになってしまうから。

I feel that using the flash on a compact camera gives a nostalgic feel to the photo. However, when I use this camera in auto mode, the camera judges the brightness on its own and fires the flash. So when it gets dark, I have to turn off the flash by myself or else I'll end up surprising the people around me.

たまにする、手持ち花火は楽しい。 子供が大きくなった今でも、一緒に楽しめるし。 13年前のカメラでも、それなりに撮れてしまうんだなあ。

I enjoy handheld fireworks every now and then. Even now that my kids are grown, I can still enjoy them with them. Even with a camera that is 13 years old, I can still get some good shots.

街の中で朽ちてゆく自転車を見かけると、つい写真を撮りたくなる。

6月の花と言えば、紫陽花。

むしろ、枯れかけた頃の紫陽花が好きだったりする。

The flower of June is the hydrangea.

In fact, I like hydrangeas when they are almost dead.

今年もまた、周りの視線を気にしながら桜を見ることになった。

けれど、人が少なくて静かに見れるという利点はあるかな。

This year again, I had to watch the cherry blossoms while worrying about the people around me.

But I guess it has the advantage that there are fewer people around and I can watch them quietly.
