the writeblr garden's camp garden 🪁⛺

welcome campers to ✨ camp garden ✨, our thirteenth event will be the complete opposite of a relaxing retreat where you will be challenged to help your cabin out by writing as many words as you can throughout august! 📝

campers will be separated into three cabins to choose from: green bean, bell pepper, and sweet potato. once in your cabin, you'll be sent off with your own spreadsheet to fill out filled with ten different challenges to push you to write more. 🚴‍♂️ participating campers must set a minimum goal of at least 10k words and write that 10k in order to be included in the list of winners if their cabin wins the event. other than that, all that is required is that you write as much as possible! 💦

THEY STOLE THE SUN / an introduction

🔆 adult, science fiction, horror 🛫 body horror, gore, violence, sexual content, and more 🙊 currently outlining 🧪 i am scared of the dark, my hearing sucks, i don't trust most people, and i'd rather die doing what i wanted even if it's incredibly pointless. how can you miss something you never saw? there's also monster fucker representation. and three povs! not of the monster fucking. but that would be kinda funny. 🔅 spotify / pinterest 💉 picrew used

on the two-hundred-and-twentieth anniversary of the sun disappearing, a bunker council leader declares that the hunter's should be disbanded, regrouped into the bunker guard to police people instead of searching for the corpses of those that dared to leave. after all, it's been over a year since the last time someone tried. what's the point? they should be doing a better job of guarding the doors in the first place. a week later, the bunker wakes up to strangers at their door. the last and only time the heizfree bunker let in any outsiders, it brought a sickness that has plagued their descendants ever since. and that was before they had even found the bunker; when their founders were still barely surviving in the destroyed air force base. with the entire five floors below them voting for them to lose their jobs and change their lives just as they've discovered something that could possibly save them- the hunters decide to let the outsiders in. after all, they guard the doors. the strangers claim they've been traveling across the state looking for survivors, that they saw them running from a shadow and were impressed by their skills. they offer to bring the hunters back with them, and only then they'll be able to understand how they survive out there, and that it could be possible for them, too. it's also completely possible that they're liars and that the hunters have just marked themselves for certain death instead, but what else have they got to lose? their jobs were always going to lead them to it, anyway. they might as well go out trying to do something better than the people before them.

*lily is the lone survivor of her family, her dad was the last from his generation of hunters and was killed four years before the story in an attack that still leaves the bunker shaken. his death happened three months before she was meant to join the guard boot camp, which would allow her to become a hunter and many of those within the bunker tried to sway her from enlisting. but if there's one word you can describe lily as, it would be determined. besides, those people didn't care about her or her family before, why would she listen to them, then?

*kali has been traveling across texas to search for survivors since she was twelve, along with rem, who she considers her older sister at this point. they were raised by the same scientists, but that's where the similarities end. where kali is caring, diplomatic, and serious about the offers she gives to the survivors they meet, rem could be considered the opposite. quick to set their ever-revolving pair of guards off on whoever turns on them. but anders and sierra have lasted longer than most of their guards so far, and kali really enjoys their company, even if they can be incredibly cold sometimes. she knows she can be the same, so she can't fault them for it too much.

*shiloh is the youngest daughter of edith schaefer: one of the council leaders and a member of the light of life, a religion followed by a majority of the bunker. shiloh was originally studying at the medical bay when her older sister was indoctrinated following a rough stint during her voluntary medic time with the guard, who are known for being unpleasant to, well, everyone. shiloh knew she didn't want to follow her family's footsteps and plead with dr. marshall to switch to studying with him to avoid that life, knowing he has a vocal dislike for them and needed someone to follow in his footsteps eventually. she's since been a diligent pupil, but may be working on something behind his back. just to see if her hypothesis is correct before she shows him, of course.

was anyone else ummmm off-putting for whatever reason for most of their life 😂😂😂 and people would tell you that they were scared of talking to you because you were intimidating 😂😂😂 and people thought you were cool and mysterious and brooding but in reality you were just kind of socially awkward and inconsolably lonely 😂😂😂 and people were intimidated by you which is a cool girlboss move but because of that no one talked to you or kissed you or approached you 😂😂😂 and you cannot even begin to express the never ending abyss of desolation you cannot escape 😂😂😂

WTW PRESENTS OUR 49TH EVENT!

Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society. . . WelcomeToWriteblr calls this event the Summerween Sleepaway Camp Crawl! Over the course of 19 DAYS, participants will be tasked with completing 19 CHALLENGES, by the end of which they'll have added a minimum of 5K WORDS to their chosen WIP!

THE SERVER

You MUST be a member of the server to participate. You must also give yourself roles from the role menu when you join. We only require AGE and PRONOUNS. If you need any help, feel free to ping the mods! Please try and join before JULY 13TH. Anyone who joins a week late (JULY 20TH) will not be accepted into the event.

HOW IT WORKS

The leaderboard will be based upon the PERCENTAGE of how close you get to your word goal. Anyone who reaches their goal before the end of the month will be asked to increase it to make the crawl more fair for slower writers. The TOP 3 participants with the highest completed word goal, and who have completed the 19 BONUS CHALLNGES, will receive a prize of their choosing—whether it be a playlist, moodboard, banner, or graphics! Additional information is contained within the spreadsheet accessible within the server’s designated event channels.

10 Non-Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing

New Part: 10 Lethal Injury Ideas

If you need a simple way to make your characters feel pain, here are some ideas: 

1. Sprained Ankle

A common injury that can severely limit mobility. This is useful because your characters will have to experience a mild struggle and adapt their plans to their new lack of mobiliy. Perfect to add tension to a chase scene.

2. Rib Contusion

A painful bruise on the ribs can make breathing difficult, helping you sneak in those ragged wheezes during a fight scene. Could also be used for something sport-related! It's impactful enough to leave a lingering pain but not enough to hinder their overall movement.

3. Concussions

This common brain injury can lead to confusion, dizziness, and mood swings, affecting a character’s judgment heavily. It can also cause mild amnesia.

I enjoy using concussions when you need another character to subtly take over the fight/scene, it's an easy way to switch POVs. You could also use it if you need a 'cute' recovery moment with A and B.

4. Fractured Finger

A broken finger can complicate tasks that require fine motor skills. This would be perfect for characters like artists, writers, etc. Or, a fighter who brushes it off as nothing till they try to throw a punch and are hit with pain.

5. Road Rash

Road rash is an abrasion caused by friction. Aka scraping skin. The raw, painful sting resulting from a fall can be a quick but effective way to add pain to your writing. Tip: it's great if you need a mild injury for a child.

6. Shoulder Dislocation

This injury can be excruciating and often leads to an inability to use one arm, forcing characters to confront their limitations while adding urgency to their situation. Good for torture scenes.

7. Deep Laceration

A deep laceration is a cut that requires stitches. As someone who got stitches as a kid, they really aren't that bad! A 2-3 inch wound (in length) provides just enough pain and blood to add that dramatic flair to your writing while not severely deterring your character.

This is also a great wound to look back on since it often scars. Note: the deeper and wider the cut the worse your character's condition. Don't give them a 5 inch deep gash and call that mild.

8. Burns

Whether from fire, chemicals, or hot surfaces, burns can cause intense suffering and lingering trauma. Like the previous injury, the lasting physical and emotional trauma of a burn is a great wound for characters to look back on.

9. Pulled Muscle

This can create ongoing pain and restrict movement, offering a window to force your character to lean on another. Note: I personally use muscle related injuries when I want to focus more on the pain and sprains to focus on a lack of mobility.

10. Tendonitis

Inflammation of a tendon can cause chronic pain and limit a character's ability to perform tasks they usually take for granted. When exploring tendonitis make sure you research well as this can easily turn into a more severe injury.

This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. This is inspiration, not a thorough guide. Happy writing! :)

MONTHLY WRITING UPDATES 2025 / another 3 months late

i'm about to change my username to idontwrite because yall i don't know what has been going on lately but i just don't want to write. i had a big spurt in march for some reason and i don't remember where that came from but i need that energy in my life again. i thought my last writer's block era was bad but this is worse. the ideas are there i just don't want to write them. so instead i sit and ponder. and play a lot of sims.

features a moodboard on one side and synopsis text on the other. there are two custom links in the navigation. the images are 200px squares, and there is an adjustable "image fade" option to make them look cohesive together like a moodboard. you can also set this to zero if you'd like to use your images as is!

edit colors and add image urls in the root section near the top of the code, then scroll down to the html section to add your wip title and synopsis text.

WRITEBLR GARDEN JESTER OLYMPICS / day 1.

aaaAAAAhhhh day one of this horrible event is finally over, and i must say i'm pretty proud of myself for writing 2.3k words!! shout out to my fellow sprinters for writing with me, we are going to kill this event one way or another.

i finished chapter 25 'you've waited in vain', which is callista's big makeover and an even bigger reveal of something that's going to truly change callista forever 👀 xander spends the entire chapter pushing around a heavy cart with some mysterious goods for some other rebels we'll meet in the next chapter as he explains everything in a massive info dump. definitely going to need some work because i wasn't really planning on putting the reveal here but i'm kinda digging callista finally having an upper hand over elijah here. we'll see if i change it when i come back to edit.
