Welcome! Here's a blog for me (and anyone who wants to submit something) to talk about how amazing, funny, and sometimes silly my students are, and why teaching is the best (if sometimes frustrating) job! Please note: if students or teacher names are ever mentioned, they HAVE been changed for confidentiality reasons!

Honestly, part of why it irritates me when people act performatively shocked at the homophobia in 2000s media is it wasn't just media. "Can you believe this aired in 2008" buddy, in 2008 I was having shit thrown at me from moving cars for having long hair, and you wanna get worked up about sitcoms?

Puritanism is getting worse around the globe and conservatives and fascists will absolutely be first going harder against porn, then use that against queer people. You HAVE to realise this and oppose anti porn measures and laws, be in solidarity with sex workers, and listen to them when they call this shit out. It's going to be vitally important.

current fan creation landscape is kinda like if you went to a party with a homemade cake and everyone takes a slice and silently thumbs up at you with no attempt to start a conversation except for occasionally some guy sits in the corner with a tape recorder critiquing the cake as though he was a restaurant critic and another guy is handing the cake to an uber driver like "yeah i need you to find a restaurant that makes cake like this so i can have more of it" and the only person that's talked to you in 30 minutes is a very sweet little guy who was like "hey i liked your cake" and then ran away apologizing for bothering you the moment you said thank you.

my cat hates taking his pills. the only way we can get him to eat them is to turn it into an elaborate pantomime - we take the packet out of the cupboard slowly and hold it up, saying “oh!! what’s this? what’s this? a TREAT? a TREAT for louis????” while making surprised faces. we offer him a pill… then, before he has a chance to sniff it, we wag our fingers at him and replace it in the packet so it becomes a Tantalising Forbidden Mystery. we continue doing this until he’s so confused and excited that he will eat the pill as fast as possible, just so he can find out what it is before we can take it away from him again. as soon as he’s eaten it he looks utterly disappointed and betrayed, like a child who just ate a delicious sweet only to find it was a chocolate-coated brussels sprout. it never gets old

Well... What if it don't feel right. I am a woman and realistically I'm pretty much only gonna be dating other women for the foreseeable future... but the word lesbian has such a formal tone to it. I'm not that sure of myself. I'm not formalizing that one. I'll stick to queer. And stupid gay loser

please explain what is meant by this?
Just that it's a bit tricky to call space hot or cold in any way that we, as people who live in an atmosphere, would understand it. Vacuums don't work that way.
Heat is a property of atoms, which open space has very few of. Space is "cold" in the sense that there's not much heat energy, because there's not a lot of atoms to carry it. Space is also "hot" in the sense that the temperature is extremely high, because the atoms that do exist out there are very, VERY hot.
Because there's very few atoms to transfer your heat to, being in space is a bit like being in a thermos. Unprepared, you're much more likely to overheat in space than freeze. This is a pretty big issue with space stations and soforth, since any environment with humans in it or that has to use a lot of electricity is, by its very nature, generating a lot of its own heat.
On the other hand, there's very few atoms to transfer their heat to you, which means that black body radiation is super effective. (Black body radiation is a way in which things lose heat without directly transferring kinetic energy atom-to-atom, and it's a big part of why we can have space stations and rocket ships and soforth without the people inside them being cooked alive; they lose heat via black body radiation). So objects that don't generate heat and have no way of holding onto a lot of it (such as with an atmosphere) tend to get cold and stay cold.
Basically, our concepts of 'hot' and 'cold', what those terms mean and what they do to you, are pretty specific to the very niche situation of living in a gaseous atmosphere of about 1atm pressure. Things in a near-vacuum are a lot simpler, but also not remotely what somebody of Earth would inherently expect to happen.

I saw a post that was saying how great it would be for David Tennant to play Sherlock Holmes and I'm sure he'd do a great job but please entertain my counterpoint: David Tennant as John Watson and Catherine Tate as Sherlock Holmes

No matter what a post on tumblr tries to tell you, your moral and ethical stances will never be determined by what you reblog and what you scroll past. Don’t let manipulation tactics force you into doing anything you don’t want to do.
