Welcome! Here's a blog for me (and anyone who wants to submit something) to talk about how amazing, funny, and sometimes silly my students are, and why teaching is the best (if sometimes frustrating) job! Please note: if students or teacher names are ever mentioned, they HAVE been changed for confidentiality reasons!

there are no hard rules for human interaction but honestly i think everyone online would benefit hugely from operating under the assumption that, unless you have been given a specific reason to think otherwise in discrete instances, internet strangers do not want to be approached with:
your trauma, illnesses, or deep-rooted self worth issues
any come-ons or sexual content
over-familiar playful rudeness
information about your dnd characters/ocs
disagreements with their harmless subjective opinions
if it is your first time speaking with someone i can not highly enough recommend that these do not be your opening topics

Hey, kind of a long shot but figured it never hurts to ask:
Do any of my followers live or know someone in Oakland, CA who’s looking for a dog? Our friend Richard and his wife just had a baby and they’ve tried so hard but the new baby and dog are just not compatible.
He’s about nine, very high energy and affectionate. Not a good fit with kids or cats as he’s pretty high prey drive but very friendly and well socialized otherwise.
Here’s Milo
Shoot me a DM if interested. They’d love to be able to see him sometimes if you’d also like to make friends with some cool nerds.

I think it's so funny how we bred JOBS into dogs. I have two shih tzus and they were bred to be lap dogs. All they care about is looking cute and cuddling with people. Meanwhile my grandma has a border collie and that dog needs to feel so useful all the time, he acts like he will pass away if he doesn't have a job to do constantly

I flipped through a book at the library (I didn't get it because I already have several checked out and more on hold, but I hope to come back to it) Did Lincoln Own Slaves? : and Other Frequently Asked Questions About Abraham Lincoln. I flipped through it, and came to the title question. The answer, as I already knew, was no, definitively not.
The next question and answer I found interesting- "So why do we keep asking?" The author said that the country used to worship founding fathers such as Washington and Jefferson who owned slaves and, in Jefferson's case, fathered children with them, and now that we've reexamined how we should think of and teach about them, we start to be suspicious of our other national heroes.
And that's good, he says! We should never take hagiographies for granted! We should look into who these people actually were rather than unthinkingly calling them saints! Lincoln specifically was flawed and did some things unworthy of idolizing- it's just that on this particular issue, we have a definitive answer.
(I would have added "Also, lost causers want to prove him a hypocrite," but probably for the best, the author was assuming the questions were in good faith.)

One of the most important things to unpack and unlearn when you’re part of a white supremacy saturated society (i.e. the global north) and especially if you were raised in an intensified form of it (evangelicism, right wing politics, explicit racism) is the urge to punish and take revenge.
It manifests in our lives all the time and it is inherently destructive. It makes relationships and interactions adversarial for no good reason. It undermines cooperation and good civic order. It worsens some types of crime. It creates trauma, especially in children.
Imagine approaching unexpected or unacceptable behavior from a perspective of "how can this be stopped, and prevented" instead of "you’re going to regret this!”
Imagine dealing with a problem or conflict from the perspective of “how can this be solved in a way that is just and restorative” instead of “the people who caused this are going to pay.”
How much would that change you? How much would that have changed for you?

Project 2025 ain't gonna roll out all at once. So what we're gonna wanna do is make passing each individual part of it as difficult as possible, so there's less to undo once we finally get this country back on the rails.

Not to sound like a sap but I think we as a society would be so much better off if we stopped constantly assuming the worst of each other.
