man vs bear has gone around, and now there is woman vs tree. And honestly I don't blame anyone for picking either of them.

So I thought of this analogy (at ass o'clock, so please 'bear' with me. Ha. Ha.) and I'm actually kind of proud of it so here goes: Imagine emotional vulnerability is taking a metal spoon and digging into hard ice cream.

Toxic Masculinity tells masc presenting beings that they must not show emotional vulnerability, that is weakness that can be mocked or exploited.

Beings who are allowed to show and express this vulnerability learn skills to make this (easier is the wrong word, but for simplicity's sake we'll use it) easier.

So when a being without those skills finally feels safe enough, or fed up enough, to express themselves it's a bit like the spoon bending without getting the ice cream. And toxic masculinity has conditioned the more open beings to believe that a masc presenting being bottles everything up so any emotional moment they have is going to be *big* or *shocking*, so when they see it's the bent spoon they might be judgemental or dismissive.

Because they've been dealing with bent spoons, frozen containers, and rock hard ice cream for a long time. They tend to forget that for people who haven't, that bent spoon might as well be the end of the world.

And that reaction reinforces what the masc presenting being has been taught, they shouldn't show their emotions, people don't believe them or don't want to hear it. So they hide the spoon, and brush off any other requests to open up.

TL;DR Toxic is toxic for everyone. So pick the bear or tree if you feel safer with them. We need to work at becoming safe for each other.

there have been 774664 studies on basic income and the results of every single one have been “wow! we gave people money and literally everything improved! crime rates are down! the actual sky is bluer! my (the researcher’s) wife decided not to leave me after all!” but these have all been short studies, just a couple years. i think what’s really missing from the field is a proper long form study, with a broader, bolder demographic, to really get us those numbers we need. a truly diverse study pool like, say, everyone. forever

Okay genuinely. Larian is so smart most of the time, which is clearly why they had to balance it out by making the dye system so bad. But the multiclass restriction makes no sense. Why am I allowed to respec my entire character at any time with Withers, and why am I allowed to change my difficulty level at any time in the game menu, but I am not allowed to multiclass in easy mode "because I might make a mistake". IT'S VERY EASY TO UNDO THE MISTAKE. YOU PUT THE METHOD RIGHT THERE AND HE CHARGES A PITTANCE

At the gate for my flight home from visiting friends and there's a woman here with a service Shiba Inu. No pics because he has a Do Not Disturb vest and taking pics of strangers is illegal but I need to stress how ON DUTY this animal is. Ears up. Eyes doing Lazer scans of everything. Examining everyone who passes within 10ft like a security guard. Ass planted on her feet. I have never seen a dog with such intense chivalric guardian energy before. He has tiny eyebrows and they are FURROWED with concentration.
