I was in my college university as a student. For some reason, the Uni looks bright, like Budapest Hotel bright. We were dismissed because of a heavy rain but then my eyeglasses starts malfunctioning as I was walking. It was almost as if I was blind.

Then I felt a cat guide me in able to go to places. But while I was going down on a series of stairs to the front gate, students rushed in. I asked someone what’s happening and a girl stopped and said the bus terminal migrated in front of our school because Manila is drowning in flood and there are only a few buses left.

I felt the need to hurry in able to go home but because I can’t see, I stumbled and fell from the stairs because there wasn’t a railing. My whole body was aching. Lumping out, I saw a long line of students waiting to get in on the buses.

Everything was blurry. So I decided to call my boyfriend to help me. He came as soon as he could. But when we were about to get on the bus, they were gone. We decided to walk to the underpass but there was flood everywhere. So we treaded on the visible edges. But we reached a dead end where the flood was too deep to jump from.

It’s either we jump or we drown. So we jumped. And we thought we’re going to drown. But we held on so tight we got through.

We got up from that underpass puzzle and hop on bus on the way home. I opened my notes and studied while Quiw was sleeping.

The scene shifted to our house in Batangas. I was in the bedroom where my grandma died. I saw my parents on their bedroom. I went out and suddenly I’m in my apartment in Mandaluyong, with a grocery bag on my hand. I was walking through our street and buying something from the local sari-sari store, wearing my usual weekend shirt and shorts. This was the part I can’t remember so vividly. I was buying something from a grandma who got nothing displayed on her store. She then pulled out a funnel and pour a dark liquid on an ice plastic. She gave it to me.

After that, I rode on an e-jeep. Suddenly I’m at our University again, on the same spot I fell from the stairs.

I didn’t know how the dream started. But I remember seeing a map. Then when it zoomed on the borders of Marikina and Rizal, the dream shifted into me and my brother, Hanz, riding a jeepney and getting off on a subdivision. There are people waiting for us. Some I know but can’t remember and some I don’t entirely know (there were 5 of them).

The night proceeded and we entered a back gate of the subdivision. I worry because my brother doesn’t have a face mask so I put one on him. He was smiling. We entered a room with such a long bed and a lego trail. There was a long trail of legos where you need to make a lego character slide through the entire trail just to get in the bedroom.

For a while the dream was a fog of lego characters flying. Then finally one successfuly got to the end (for how many attempts).

People decided on their sleeping spots while I checked the room. The door beside the kitchen was leading to pitch black tunnel. I closed it, feeling a different aura. The bathroom was full of legos and figurines. I called my brother to see it but he didn’t respond. So I checked on him and saw him positioned on the farthest side of the bed while a ghost was screaming at him. I immediately covered him. The ghost disappeared. Hanz wanted to go home. I said we can’t because its more dangerous outside. I switched positions with him so he’s not on the edge. The ghost came back but when she saw me instead of my brother, she backed off.

By the morning, we left while the sun was still hiding. I saw a new batch of people entering the subdivision. It was Quir’s friends and Julius, a high school batch mate.

Julius approached me and gave me a stuffed elephant. Macam was also there who told me to give the wine to Quir and gave me dried flowers. Rona also gave me a puppy. I said my thanks, ignoring the other girl with them and Ryan.

We rode a jeepney. Hanz pointed a community struggling with water. Then we took a left turn and we were immediately transformed to a mall’s foodcourt while still riding the jeep. We were at Festival Mall.

We stopped on an empty parking lot. In groups of three, another person of my age, Hanz and I immediately went to Dunkin Donuts but my brother was still struggling if he wants DD or the Mang Inasal beside it. We went for DD because of the sandwich.

When we went in, the DD was L-shaped with such a long aisle of chairs. But the menu, according to the staffs was on the other side of the stall. I told the guy and Hans to stay on a seat while I go out to see the menu but they insisted on coming.

It was pouring hard outside and we don’t have umbrellas. But we braved the rain. It took us the whole day to get to the menu bar of the outlet store. Then we ordered a chicken sandwich.
