I want to rage, to erase this crushing sense of helplessness in my lungs. To snarl instead of sobbing. I wanted to be shocked at this injustice. To be surprised and treat this as a horrific incident and not just a symptom of a bigger problem.

But I've witnessed how racist bigots reacted to Floyd, the instinctive racist response and "jokes" when people identified China as the one who was at fault with the whole COVID-situation, and how I immediately thought that those "low-key" racist thoughts will escalate someday to deadly actions. I listened to some of my friends when they said that I'm exaggerating.

And I wish- I wish I was. I wished that they were right and I was wrong. But look at our bloodied history. Look at where we are now.

One step forward, eight bloody steps back.

I'm so sick of all this hate. I'm so sick of these politics and political moves to make gains. I'm so sick and tired of it being the people vs the people when it should be the people vs the government. I'm exhausted by all this negative energy, the negative atmosphere, the negativity focused on economic status.

When will any of this change? We speak up, go to protests, stand up for our beliefs and we are held back and told it's not a problem, we are just making it a problem.

I'm tired of worrying about my friends who are my family, I'm scared for them, worried for them, exhausted for them. They speak up and get told they are being too sensitive.

If you don't want to go to protests or at a job where your political beliefs are stomped on or in a family where they tell you that "it's not your problem, so don't get involved", the best you can do is educate yourself, notice the flaws and mistakes you have made in the past and fix it.

I'm so scared of the future, mostly for my brothers, because of the current atmosphere of accepting people for who they are.

To the white people who are in ignorance and would rather stay there, think of the sushi, the Asain cusine you eat, the tea you drink, spices you use, the "Made in China" products you use, and remember that Asain Hate is real and people are choosing to stay quiet and ignorant about it. Do whatever you can do to help. And that your ancestors left Europe for a better life, where they weren't suppressed, so don't suppress people either.

To those who are affected by racism, please keep speaking up. Please continue to raise your voices until change is made. Continue the protests, continue the education, continue having a voice because you will shape the future.
