What are dental implants?

A dental implant is an effective way to replace single or multiple missing teeth. The implants are secured into the jawbone or bone, providing long term support for dentures, crowns, and bridges.

A single implant made of titanium is placed into the jawbone for single teeth replacements. This works as the replacement root. The procedure is performed with the use of a local anaesthetic.  When the implant has healed it has an abutment attached to provide the support needed for final crowns. The colour can be matched to your natural teeth.

When all your teeth are missing, upper and lower, then multiple dental implants are used. These then form the base support for a bridge or dentures.
