Hi! I blog about my fandoms here, largely otome games like Dance with Devils/Cinderella Phenomenon/Obey Me/Mr Love: Queen's Choice/Seduce Me: The Otome/really any Cheritz game (I've played them all haha) and so on. Among other things, I play otome games and give my ongoing thoughts on them. I also talk about anime (a lot of My Hero Academia and whatever I'm watching at the moment.) Also I talk a lot about knitting and post pictures and whatnot of my works in progress. This is the blog I'm most active on, but my main Tumblr is technically @awomansplaceisshapinghistory. If you like what you see, perhaps you'll like my twitter over @Ifiwanttodance1. Have fun taking a look around!

Hey remember that a boycott if actually MORE effective under capitalism if you profess you would actually end the boycott under certain conditions.
“Nothing this company does can make up for their bad actions, I will never buy from them again!” Okay so they’ve lost you as a customer and have no reason to try and get you back. You can HOPE to drive them into bankruptcy but Chic-Fil-A is evidence of how well that works.
“This company did something bad. I would not consider buying their product again, UNLESS, they publicly apologized and made up for it by … [donating money to a cause, promoting different content, offering better care to their employees, etc.]” This is actually MORE likely to be effective because if enough people say this, the company m sees them as potential customers of a certain demographic, and is willing to make changes to get those customers back and, long term, make money from them.

I am begging the FDA to require that companies CANNOT just put "spices" as an ingredient but have to label the spices.
"Spices" can mean "this has some oregano and black pepper in it" or it can mean "this has cumin cayenne and paprika and if you eat this you will be sick in bed in pain for a week" for me.
Seriously, this is an allergy issue and a huge oversight on the part of corporations.
Require detailed labeling of spices used in packaged foods NOW.

Oklahoma is attempting to pass a bill that would ban explicit romance novels. Authors, narrators, and sellers could all face fines of up to $100,000 and up to 10 years in jail for each instance.
If you live in OK, call your representative and tell them this bill should not be allowed to pass.
This is likely a test case. Republicans will try to pass it in OK and if it passes other states will likely try to pass similar laws.
In the meantime, get physical copies of books you like. Download those pdfs. Archive your AO3 stories and keep them on a physical hard drive. (Storing those files in the cloud could be problematic in the future as the company managing the cloud service can see what your files are)

i feel so bad for nikola tesla like imagine spending years beefing with a guy who has conned the public into believing he's some sort of supergenius when in reality it's his overworked employees developing all of his world-changing inventions and you end up dying broke and starving and alone and then 100 years later another guy cons the public into believing he's some sort of supergenius when in reality it's his overworked employees developing all of his world-changing inventions and he's doing it all IN YOUR NAME. he must be rolling in his grave like a fucking rotisserie chicken

Today's hot take is that actually, in the main (Arabella survives) plot, Halsin handled Kagha's punishment perfectly, and that exiling her actually would have been the wrong move.
Yes, exiling her would have been amazing and a huge check on her ego. You know what else it would have done? Made her a martyr, and possibly inspired her to start her own circle, or go back into the arms of the Shadow Druids (especially if she hadn't been convinced to turn on them already). She had clearly won the loyalty of quite a few of the Druids- if she left, it is very possible quite a few would have joined her, causing her influence over the other Druids to expand instead of be reduced.
Demoting her may make her angry, but it reduces her reputation a lot. No matter what the Druids' feelings towards Halsin, they still respect the order/hierarchy within the Druids (which is why Kagha didn't attempt anything until she was made First Druid by Halsin's disappearance). With Kagha demoted to a novice, she loses a lot of standing in their order, has been shamed, and further, with a new leader coming who has no relation to Halsin, they are being guided by someone who can show them how Kagha was wrong. Shame is a powerful motivator and social tool, and demotion is even more shameful in many regards than exile. There's a sort of admirable "rebel" quality taken to exile, but demotion? It carries so many connotations of shame and incompetence. And this goes for Kagha herself, too: "I was exiled for protecting the Grove" is a lie she can tell herself easily in isolation, creating the feelings of victimhood that would leave her easily influenced in future, but being forced to stay and learn all over again denies her that chance and forces her to accept/live with the shame her actions should bring her.
Demoting her rather than exiling her also gives a chance for Kagha to be "deprogramed" so to speak. Deprograming from a cult is extremely difficult, but the key is that it doesn't happen alone. It requires other, non-cult influences. Kagha could never be deprogrammed if she was exiled (and, as noted above, if she was, many others would follow her and in turn lose their own chance at deprogramming). In a scenario where she hasn't actually caused any deaths yet, it makes sense, acknowledging her talents and the person she was before the Shadow Druids, to give her a chance to unlearn the harmful cult ideology and find her place again.
In short: keeping her in the Grove removes her standing both by stripping her of her rank and by using social stigma to make her less appealing to the other Druids, while also removing issues exiling her would cause (IE making her a martyr and making her impossible to deprogram, thus making her a potential enemy later on, along with the other Druids who probably would have followed her).

Nobody is more obsessed with and voyeuristic about sex than conservatives and it’s fascinating, if frustrating. But mostly it’s just pathetic. I mean, imagine being unable to go a single day without thinking about the bed lives of people you’ve never met or have no desire to sleep with. Imagine becoming convinced that your day is ruined by something that has occurred since the day you were born between two people you have no connection with. Imagine being unable to look at two guys kissing and thinking so hard about their dicks touching that you get furious and want to dictate their bedroom play. Or thinking that somebody deciding they want their boobs chopped off will suddenly make a random kid want to fuck. Why are y’all so obsessed with sex? There’s so much more to life than just fucking. Who or what made you think sex was so important that it controls everything and everyone, let alone that you have the authority to dictate how it’s supposed to be? …You want in on an orgy or???🤔

There’s certain hobbies and interests that aren’t inherently conservative or regressive but do attract a lot of people who are those things or worse and when you’re a progressive person involved in those hobbies hearing that someone else is interested in your hobby usually has to involve some “But are you normal about it?” conversations before you get too excited

I am finding out that a lot of things I thought were common knowledge about Christian Fundamentalism are not in fact common knowledge.
Like with the aid freeze, people were like why would they do this? And I was like cause they want churches to be the only option for aid.
And people were shocked. And I was also shocked that this wasn't like...more well known. I grew up with people who were anti-aid because they felt that belonged to the church and made people behave more worldly if they could get it elsewhere. It was so well known it was a debate topic in my Philosophy of Religion course in high school.
I'm just...I'm concerned at how little some groups seem to know about Christian Fundamentalism. I wish I could help translate more.

If you’re an American federal employee and got an email saying “it’s ok to quit your job.” Do not, for the love of everything, quit your job. This is purely a scare tactic to get rid of as many people as possible without legal consequences.
