Fishtober Day 22 - Lamprey

These fish freak me outtt! This is a Lamprey. They look terrifying - this was the least scary photo of their teeth I could find - and they are a little but it's not their fault.

Both in the superclass Cyclostomi, Lampreys are jawless fish, like Hagfish [which are just as scary, once you see their faces]. But... their name means stone licker which is much less scary.

They're parasites and usually just bite other fish to eat. Like cookie-cutter sharks do! The rest of them are filter feeders.

Jawless fish are creepy. But they're still pretty cool.

Hagfish are pretty creepy. Most of them look kinda like earthworms and they make this gross slime. They have teeth like plates for a jaw and absorb nutrients through the skin.

They eat worms or... dying and dead sea creatures from the inside. They have slow metabolisms like leeches so they don't need to eat often. Luckily. But they still do.

I would like to never see them again now.

caregiver gregor hcs 🪳

generally, he's a very gentle cg. calm and patient, especially with the littlest of guys. he's generally very relaxed and tries to give his regressors the space to have big emotions and explore new stuff

that being said, he might get overwhelmed when working with super energetic regressors. he'll try his best to keep up with them, but generally prefers doing quiet activities. he'll sit and read with a regressor or watch snow out the window...

he's quite good at calming little guys down when they're upset. gently asks if he can touch them, puts his hand on their shoulder as he gently shushes them.. he's Kind

i also feel like he's naturally very good at just going along with Little Guy Shenanigans. if a regressor says something silly/unbelievable he'll widen his eyes in surprise and be like "oh yeah? and then what happened?" generally, he's good at committing to the bit.

he's likely somewhat uncomfortable with being referred to with any parental titles (for hermann-related reasons), but likes when little guys give him silly nicknames. might be slightly annoyed if said nicknames become bug-related, but he's a good sport

in terms of guys i think he'd take care of in canon... i'd like to think sinclair would hang around him a lot. could see ishmael and yi sang sticking close to him as well! and... sadly looks into the distance... yuri :( we could have had it all (big brother cg gregor and little sister regressor yuri)

i'm a big rodigor fan so i could see gregor and rodya working as a pair as caregivers... gregor constantly having to backtrack when rodya tells a guy they can make glitter crafts or have a cookie before dinner ndjsjsn

he'd let little guys play with his hair i think. he has that energy

shout out to all the age regressors who have a very complicated relationship with regression because of childhood trauma and infantilization because of their disabilities. sometimes, being treated like a kid is triggering because it reminds you of the power imbalance between you and your caregiver. shout out to the regressors who don't want their caregivers to be their parents. Shoutout to all the impure regressors who only regress when high or drunk. Shoutout to all the regressors who still do adult things while regressed like watch horror, play adult video games, or swear like sailors. shoutout to all the regressors who don't want a caregiver. it is first and foremost, a coping mechanism for stress and trauma. it does have to look a specific way.
