Tim: Look, Batman’s mission, his unrelenting devotion to protecting and saving innocents is a heroic ideal. But it’s just that. An ideal. Something to live up to. Strive for. It’s not reality. The reality is we all fall short of it, no matter how hard we try. Even him.
Cass: But all we can do is…try.
Tim: Yes, exactly. But we can’t try to force reality to conform to our ideal. That’s where he went wrong in the gang war. He went too far and–
Cass: No. He didn’t go far enough. If he’d just…taken control right away–
Tim: No way. He should’ve cooperated with the police, shared his information with them, they’re the law. Not him.
Cass: Because of the law…Penguin is still out there.
Tim: Because of the law, the rights of innocent citizens are protected.
Cass: But–
Tim: Look, we could go on like this, forever. So, for right now, let’s just agree to disagree, okay?

magician; high priestess
[meme] [accepting]
magician: list 3 of your talents
“Fighting.” Of course that’s the first to pop to mind. It’s all you do most days. “Um.” Coming up with two more is difficult. “Understand... Actions.” This is something you can’t explain, not in a way that captures just how it feels. The best way you can describe it is knowing what’ll happen before it does. But that doesn’t capture it. You press your lips into a thin line as you try to think of a third. Your entire life has been training. What other talents do you have? In the end, the best you can come up with is, “Weapons.” Your dad did teach you how to use dozens of weapons. It’s not the same as fighting, right?
Tumblr media
high priestess: do you pay more attention to your heart or your mind?
“Heart.” That’s simple. You follow your heart. Sometimes that’s what makes sense, sometimes it means putting yourself in danger when you don’t need to because that’s how you feel.

You’d snuck into the offices in the middle of the night. Exhausted from patrol and not interested in finding somewhere else to sleep, the office seemed like the best place to spend the night. You hadn’t even bothered changing out of your costume, not seeing the point when you didn’t particularly care about your secret identity to begin with. You’d dropped onto the first couch you’d seen and fallen asleep within seconds.
You don’t sleep for very long, waking up just before Phoenix arrives. You throw your feet over the couch, running a hand over your face as he walks in. He doesn’t acknowledge you but you can tell he’s aware you’re there. You don’t mind that he doesn’t talk to you right away. You’re not a morning person and thus still mostly asleep. You yawn, stretching your arms behind you, and freeze as he jumps onto the desk. You blink at him. Most people would be shocked to find you randomly sleeping on their couch, even people you know. Stephanie certainly was surprised when she found you on her couch that first time.
You yawn again in answer to his question. You got in just before the sun started rising and the sun’s not much higher in the sky now. You’re exhausted and your side hurts where a criminal got a few lucky hits in the night before. You follow his eyes over towards the shelf, where a few books lay knocked over. You shouldn’t have knocked over anything when coming in, but you’d been too tired and known no one else would be here, so you hadn’t minded at that moment. You stare at him, eyebrows furrowed, before your face relaxes and you nod. He doesn’t seem to care that you broken in, so you don’t either. “Acrobatic,” you affirm.
Tumblr media
@idontkill
Phoenix came from a world where thirteen year old prodigies were allowed to prosecute at court and also whip the defense attorneys, so he was pretty much used to the antics of teenagers. He came to his office early in the morning to retrieve some documets he had forgotten there last night for an early morning case. Humming softly to himself and digging around in his suit pocket for his keys, he seemed not to notice the noises coming around from inside.
Three in the morning and Phoenix was absolutely glowing. Most people would be dead on walking and not him. He wore a bright smile same as always. It’s not that Phoenix was a morning or night person, but rather a people person. As he crossed acoss the office and reached his desk, he found the papers and immediately crumpled them up to store in his pocket. You know, like a professional attorney would.
Tumblr media
Then Phoenix jumped on his desk, and turned around to smile at the girl on the couch who had been there the whole time. “How are you doing Cass? It’s far too early to begin working you know.” He said, lightly teasing. Which was a pretty good reaction to somebody who broke into your office. Though Phoenix seemed a bit oblivious, he followed a trail with his eyes to a few boooks knocked off a high shelf, and then out a window left slightly ajar. “Oh so you got in through the window. Wow, you seem really acrobatic.”
