Task 3: Communication without words
I have come a bit of a long way to have finished this task. The first thing I did, along with my classmates were gonna make a storyboard for the movie of churchill "Drakest Hour". We thought hard about it and finally we came out with 10 storyboards. I chose one storyboard to edit it, took a photo and posted it on schoology. From there, I downloaded it and started edit it on photoshop. There was nothing much I did out of this world. After I finished editing the photo, I posted it again on schoology, but this time it was edited as my friends did theirs. I downloaded the other edited storyboards and opened them in illustrator. I placed all the edited storyboards in one project, organized them well, arranged them in order, from 1st storyboard till the last and described what was happening in the storyboards. The next step I did was making arrows on them whether the storyboard was gonna zoom in/out or gonna pan left/right. After that, I drew rectangles on them to show the camera angles, where the shot was gonna take at. The final step was including the credits. In order to do that, I searched the imdb site, searched darkest hour and clicked the section of cast. I named the 3 important actors of the movie, director, who was responsible for the music, also the cinematography, the editor and a few more. As typography, I chose "IM FELL ENGLISH". When all this were done and finished, I saved the whole project as PDF.

Observation is key
DeadPool Title Sequence:
The designer’s names are: Jennifer Miller, Norn Jordan and Ryan Summers. The style of this title sequence was used digital, 3D and CGI as a single take. As for techniques, VFX was used because the more content one has on screen, the more information the viewers feel they should follow. This sequence is used for the Deadpool movie. No storyboard was made, only previs. As a process, they did a test of versions of the title and went less successful. Not going to say completely wrong. The audience didn’t laugh at all and so it was much harder to get them to laugh as they moved deeper into the first act. They weren’t expecting big laughs then, just chuckles. The audience spent much time trying to figure out what the jokes.

Spectre Title Sequence
The designer’s name is Daniel Kleinman. CGI and 3D styles were used to do the sequence opening movie of 007: Spectre. Visual effects were used as part of techniques to show octopus in the opening since the logo and name itself spectre is a little octopus. The first stage he began was the pile of drawings. He works on them on how he could make them into the moving image and make them work altogether. It is as usual given importance that the visual needs to be synched with the lyrics. He had a slightly bit of a problem because the lyrics came late. So they recorded a song which was far too long than the whole sequence but then they could edit it and sync it along with visual and compares it with the duration of the title sequence. As for VFX, the first steps involved repetitions with the actor Daniel Craig. He went through the drawings and thoughts on the main themes and then they go and try to flesh them out quickly. Then they work up concept art and look at development and offer up freshly new ideas.

Skyfall Title Sequence
The designer’s name of the film: “007: Spectre” is once again Daniel Kleinman. He used such styles such as: graphic, montage and experimental. CGI was used as a technique as it is such a powerful visual tool to use nowadays because it broadens the possibilities for one’s imagination and allows a lot of fine tuning. He wanted the beginning of the opening sequence to be to appear bond, for a reason. A reason so that when he fell forward from the ocean, the designer could make him fall away. As of the start of the process, he worked out storyboards and do them animatics. He also made a CG animatic to do some creations with the ideas he made, then shoot elements and edit them himself. Next, comes the post-production house “Framestore” to start their part of the job which is to create the scenes and effects.

Hulk Title Sequence
Garson Yu was the visual designer who did the title sequence of Hulk. He used styles such as: 2D, graphic, live action, macroscopic and microscopic. Also as of techniques, amination and VFX were used by a company named “yU+Co”. First, they went through an R&D stage and had two concerns, content and design (look and feel). The title sequence was divided into two parts. In the first part, he had to compare a microscopic to a larger universe in space. He started with a drop of water that represents the beginning of life. He did some research on the look of a DNA double helix and the studio hired a science consultant so that he could help Garson make sure all the visuals he created were scientifically correct. For the second part of the sequence, his experiments involved extracting DNA from four species to harness some characteristics from each. They had to explain the process visually.

Catch me if you can Title Sequence
The creative directors of this sequence “Catch me if you can” were Olivier Kuntzel and Florence Deygas. The styles used in this movie were 2D, graphic, hand down and retro. They used a different technique than usual to do this title sequence, which was the stamp style animation. They used it by imagining the characters of the film in stamp form, made from the same cutters to preserve crudeness. The original stamps that were created in a few hours, were those that appear in the final work piece. When the time came to sync the sequence with the film, they had also received an actual piece of film ready.
