i think one of the most genuinely frustrating things about the fanon concept of edi is that people think she is steadfastly compassionate (which to an extent, she is) -- but this is not always the case. i hate the idea that me3 tried to Really Humanize her when she is ALLOWED to be a synthetic who embraces her nature. one can be a being of logic while still being compassionate. edi is like... like spock from star trek. kind but rational. willing to sacrifice a few for the many (if absolutely necessary). she CAN be ruthless because she is still a MACHINE but machine =/= that she isn't a person. She Is Both. and that's okay! she's a good person who believes in good and makes good choices. she chooses kindness and peace first. but she has no qualms bringing the fight to a situation when necessary and i wish that fanon would portray that more accurately.
