“Oh, it’s no trouble at all. If I couldn’t handle a profession like this, I wouldn’t have taken the job.” He explained as he let out a hum. “Thank you for being concerned about me though, not many people offer that kind of civility. It’s rare to find someone so understanding of such a profession. In any case, what shall I get started for you so you don’t have to wait much longer?” He asked with a gentle smile, gazing at him. “Given your attire, I imagine you have somewhere much more important to be than waiting in a regular coffee shop.”

“Ah! Coming!” Kai called as he was hurrying with various orders, considering the coffee shop was already fairly packed by this point.
Everyone was scrambling to make sure all the orders got out on time and got the right things. Of course, Kai wasn’t worried, the early morning was always this busy it seemed. He had been working here for a good few years now and it was always this crazy, not that he minded. A bit of chaos was good now and then.
Heaving a soft sigh once the morning rush was over, Kai left the front counter to take orders at tables when he spotted a young man sitting alone. However… he had the oddest feeling he had recognized him before. Wait, he was familiar. He was a regular, but he was often so busy with work that he hardly got to talk to anyone personally and take their orders.
Donning a smile, he approached his table. Best to talk to him now at the very least.
“Good morning, sir. Sorry for the wait, the morning rush is the absolute worst. What can I get for you?”

Robyn gave him a warm smile, listening to him talk about his son so fervently. Robert cared about his son so much, more than most parents who had gone through divorce for much shallower reasons. The warmth in his voice when he talked about Bailey was such a wonder to behold. Her heart practically swelled, seeing him happy.
“Bailey is a wonderful child, I can understand being proud of him. No to mention he is so polite, despite everything that is going on.” She mentioned as she recounted meeting him at Granny’s. “I am glad that you got to spend time with him.”

“I completely understand.” She chuckled softly. “Sometimes it is not easy to be optimistic when life has been full of negative moments.” She answered and gave him a smile. “So there is no judgement at all.”

Robyn gave him a warm smile, “Your happiness is more than enough thanks, Robert.” She mentioned. “Sometimes, taking the first step to get help is the hardest part. The fact that you were willing to take that step, shows you are willing to make changes for the better.”
She straightened out her skirt slightly, setting her notepad aside. “And if I may speak freely, not as your doctor, but as myself… I think you are doing a wonderful job with your son. Despite what others might think.”

She gave him a small smile, “I have been working in this profession for a few years Robert, plus… I have been what you are going through, but through the eyes of a child.” She let out a small sigh. “My parents got divorced when I was a baby. I didn’t understand what was really going on at that time. But as I grew older, I bounced between homes until I was old enough to decide if I wanted to continue to do so.” She explained to him.
“I have, also been where you are. I was married once before. Things started out good, but…” she paused, remembering just why she and her husband separated, and it still hurt remembering what he said when he left. “But we grew apart.”
“I know the right things to say because I have been where you are, at my lowest point… but I used that to help others and become who I am today.” She smiled and slowly removed her hand from his arm. “This is why I wish to help you, Robert. I don’t want you to let this pain keep you fearful that no good will ever happen again.”

Robyn frowned, dealing with a ex-spouse who made the other party feel lower than dirt was something she had see in various counseling sessions. However, the fact that a child was in the mix made things that much more difficult, especially when the parent the child gets to see on rare occasions isn’t the one they are staying with.
She gently placed a hand on his arm, comforting him gently. “Dealing with an ex is not easy, especially after the divorce is finalized. Most spiteful ex-spouses try to undermine who the other parent is which isn’t easy for a child to listen to… trust me. I lived through it myself. But I didn’t let that stop me from becoming someone who wished to help others.” She mentioned to him, offering a kind smile. “Your son seems wonderful, you light up whenever mentioning him.”
She took a deep breath as she thought through what else she wished to express. “My best advice to you is… don’t let your ex-wife treat you as lesser than human. You are making changes to be better for your child. Not to mention your son reached out to you to rekindle what had been lost. It shows that he holds no ill will towards you as his father. He cares for you, and you care for him. And if your ex-wife cannot see that, then she must be blind.”

Robyn quirked a brow in confusion, “The rest of the day didn’t go well?” She inquired. She was relieved that things went well with his son for the most part, but she wished to know why he believed that the rest of the day didn’t go well. “What makes you say that?” She inquired, leaning in a bit closer.

Robyn nodded, “Of course.” She answered. “I would like to know, how did things go with your son? I only saw you briefly, but it appeared things were going well.” She mentioned to him.
Of course she was hopeful for Robert to make connection with his son that would last. She wanted to help him in any way, whether he needed advice as a professional… or as someone he could rely on. She waited for him to speak and didn’t want to pressure him in any way.

Robyn opened the door to her office, smiling as she saw Robert again as she stepped aside to allow him to come in. “Welcome back, Robert. I am quite happy to see you again.” She mentioned, heading over to her desk to grab her notepad and sit down. “Shall we continued from our last session?” She inquired as she waited for him to join her.

“Certainly, there is no rush at all on my end.” Robyn smiled, gazing upon him. He seemed to be genuinely happy reconnecting with his son and that made a feeling of happiness swell within her chest. Seeing the two converse in this manner was such a welcome sight, but she wouldn’t pry anymore than she already had.
“You two enjoy your morning now, I am going to finish up my errands for this morning before I go in for my shift this afternoon.” She mentioned before waving goodbye to leave Granny’s.

Robyn nodded and smiled, “Of course. I am looking forward to seeing you. There is no rush of course.” She answered. “Enjoy the rest of your day Robert, and it was nice to meet you Bailey.” She added as she shifted her bag back onto her shoulder.

Robyn nodded back as she gazed down at the boy, “Hello Bailey, it’s a pleasure to finally put a name to a face.” She mentioned, giving him a tender smile. “I have heard wonderful things about you from your father.”
She then turned to Robert as she gave him a gentle expression. “It was wonderful to see you again, I suppose I should go as I would hate to intrude on your time with your son.” She mentioned.
Things seemed to be going well between them since they reunited. She was happy for such a development and was proud of Robert for taking such a huge step. She knew it was without a doubt daunting, but had the strongest feeling it would be beneficial for him to take such a leap of faith.

“As it is good to see you as well.” She smiled and shook his hand gently, turning to the young man who sat with him. She assumed that was Bae, but she didn’t want to pry at all. “You two seem to be getting on alright. How has your morning been?”

“Huh…?” Adriyn blinked as he slowly adjusted to the color that had entered his vision. It was a lot to get used to for sure, especially after not having a soulmate to actually finding them… he was still reeling. “Oh— uh… yeah.” He answered slowly standing up straight.
Just who was this guy? He seemed… oddly familiar. But maybe he was just imagining it; still this guy was his soulmate. Maybe he should at least introduce himself before he thought he was dealing with a crazy person.
“Um, I’m Adriyn… not that you have to or anything, but can I get your name?” He inquired softly.
He didn’t exactly know who this guy was. Then again, he hadn’t lived within this city long and only just moved there a few weeks ago. He wasn’t surprised his own name or face wasn’t more well known. He knew just how fast rumors spread, especially considering how easy someone was to get into their bed. That spread like wildfire among small circles, hence why he had to move on to a different city where people hardly knew him.
Still this guy was fairly cute… wait— this was no time for him to think about bedding someone else. Not even close.
Destined Soulmates — closed starter for @fourgaymuses
Adriyn was merely minding his own business as he walked about in the crisp, clear air. His hands were stuffed into his pockets as he let out a soft hum. He had been used to the grey colors that were part of his eyesight since he was a child. He had heard whispers that once someone found their soulmate, they would be able to see color. But that sort of thinking was far too silly for his tastes.
He didn’t have time for soulmates or, hell, even romance. He felt getting too attached would cause a lot more issues than expected. So he just found someone whom he believed to be attractive enough and just enjoyed their company for a night before moving on. Sure, it wasn’t healthy. But that was how he lived his life.
He was on his way to another destination when he ran face first into another person. Shaking his head as he ruffled his own hair while trying to rub the pain away.
“Hey man, I’m so sorry… I didn’t really see you.” Adriyn apologized, slowly lifting his head and froze.
All of a sudden color entered his vision and it was such a shock that it caused him to stumble backward.
