Jackie had never seen Dirty Work, the 1998 comedy starring Norm MacDonald and Artie Lange about two guys who open a “revenge-for-hire” business. So last night, we revisited this gem and I’m happy to say it still makes me laugh so hard that my eyes water (Jackie liked it too), especially any scene with Chris Farley. He was a childhood hero of mine and to this day I think of him as the funniest guy to ever grace a TV or movie screen.

The movie, directed by Bob Saget (yep, him), is at times too broad, poorly acted, and plain dumb for its own good, but none of that matters when you consider all there is to laugh at, or with, or however it’s supposed to work. It’s hilarious and one of my very favorite comedies.

Oasis - Don’t Go Away. Noel’s beautiful melodies together with Liam’s perfectly imperfect vocals make something really special.

Still stings that Jose Aldo pulled out of the fight, but always look on the bright side of life!

Just recently re-watched ‘The Comeback’ season 1 and it’s as brilliant and hilarious as I remember. Lisa Kudrow is so phenomenally nuanced in her role as washed up actress Valerie Cherish, who struggles for a second shot in the Hollywood limelight. The supporting cast is also fantastic, with a particularly memorable turn from Lance Barber as Paulie G., the head writer and main antagonist to Valerie (besides herself, that is).
Season 2 came out late last year, and we’re just now getting to watch it. The first 3 episodes are exactly as sharp and painfully funny as it was when we left off, almost 10 years ago. A big surprise (and a pleasant one at that) was the addition of Seth Rogen to the cast, playing a version of himself cast in the role of Paulie G. in the real Paulie G.’s autobiographical HBO sitcom. It’s a whole lot of cringe-inducing, awkward-as-hell fun and we can’t wait to catch up on the rest.
This is what we’re currently binge-watching. What’s been on your screens lately? Hit us up on Twitter @icecreamfire

Stephen Colbert took over a public access TV show in Monroe, Michigan and despite being away from hosting for the longest time in years, he was as sharp and funny as he’s ever been. We watched this last night before bed and fell asleep giggling. The interview with Eminem is particularly hilarious. Safe to say that we’ll be tuning in when he takes over for David Letterman at The Late Show.
What do you think of Stephen Colbert? Are you looking forward to his version of The Late Show?

We were so worried this fight would be canceled. We were ready to call off our trip to Vegas when we heard Aldo had injured his ribs, but thankfully, he’s been cleared by the doctors to fight. So relieved that it’s still on. We’re crossing our fingers that nothing changes. Haven’t looked forward to a fight like this in a long time. We’ll be there for it, enjoying all the Fight Week festivities. Tell me these promos don’t give you goosebumps (the choice of music in both are brilliant). For the record, we’re picking McGregor to win, but Aldo will be his biggest challenge by far.
youtube
One small disappointment is that Chad Mendes was chosen as the “backup fighter” in cased Aldo pulls out at the last minute. We would have much preferred our favorite fighter, former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar.

Nevertheless, we couldn’t be more excited for July 11th!

Another great UFC pay per view tonight as UFC 188 comes to Mexico City for a Heavyweight title fight between champion Cain Velasquez, and interim Heavywieght champ Fabricio Werdum. Cain has been out of action with injuries for 2 years, and Fabricio has been on a tear as of late, recently dispatching Heavyweight monster Mark Hunt via flying knee to win the interim belt. There’s no telling whether ring-rust will be a factor for Cain in this fight, but that element adds another layer of questions about who is the clear favorite tonight. I’m leading toward a win from Velasquez, as his camp AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) boasts such formidable training partners as current Light Heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier and Middleweight contender Luke Rockhold. His team should have him ready for the challenge he faces in Werdum, whose striking has grown leaps and bounds into elite territory and whose jiu jitsu ground game has long been the pinnacle of that skill-set in the heavyweight division. He’s also the man to first beat all time MMA heavyweight great, Fedor Emilianenko. For Velasquez, a steep challenge indeed. This fight could go either way but it’s sure to entertain. Official Pick: Cain Velasquez.
Also on the card is a stand out fight in the co-main event slot between former Bellator Lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez and former Strikeforce Lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez. This fight should be fireworks with both fighters delivering high-output striking that should give the fans exactly what we’re looking for. Definitely don’t want to miss this one. It’s another bout that could go either way, and I expect a 3 round technical slugfest and possibly a split decision. Official Pick: Gilbert Melendez (FIGHT OF THE NIGHT).
My picks for the rest of the card (winners in bold, *** = “don’t miss”):
185 lbs.: ***Nate Marquardt vs. Kelvin Gastelum 145 lbs.: Yair Rodriguez vs. Charles Rosa (no pick) 115 lbs.: ***Angela Hill vs. Tecia Torres
UFC 188 "Prelims" Under Card On FX Network (8 p.m. ET):
125 lbs.: ***Chico Camus vs. Henry Cejudo 155 lbs.: Drew Dober vs. Efrain Escudero 135 lbs.: Alejandro Perez vs. Patrick Williams (no pick) 155 lbs.: Johnny Case vs. Francisco Trevino (no pick)
UFC 188 "Prelims" Under Card On Fight Pass (6:30 p.m. ET):
185 lbs.: ***Augusto Montano vs. Cathal Pendred 145 lbs.: Gabriel Benitez vs. Clay Collard (no pick)
