An old man by the name of Katali lived at Makena village in the north eastern Namibia . He was one of the most unfortunate people in the world. The whole village was tired of Katali , he was always gloomy, he constantly complained and was always in a bad mood. The longer Katali lived, the more bile he was becoming and the more poisonous were his words. People avoided him, because his misfortune became contagious. It was even unnatural and insulting to be happy next to him in those days. He created the feeling of unhappiness in others. But one day, when he turned eighty years old, an incredible thing happened. Instantly everyone started hearing the rumour Sinonge told them “An Old Man is happy today, he doesn’t complain about anything, he is smiling, and even his face is freshened up this was a miracle at Makena village.” The whole village gathered some dutch courage together and asked Mr Katali what happened . Among them was Ngondo the village chief he asked: What happened to you? Katali replied “Nothing special. Eighty years I’ve been chasing happiness, and it was useless. And then I decided to live without happiness and just enjoy life. That’s why I’m happy now.” A lesson we must take here my friends is that don’t chase happiness by complaining and nagging at everything everyday . Enjoy your life no matter the circumstances. She took a cup and started tapping the drops. When water got to half the cup and she was ready to drink, a bird came and knocked the cup down so the water was spilled. It happened three times and the woman felt very bad. She took a stone and killed the bird. After the bird had died, she saw a big snake coming down from the tree. So she discovered that what she wanted to drink was not really water but poison. She felt so guilty that she had killed the bird that saved her life. God is like this bird to us. He knows when we are about to take poison but we get so bitter with him when he is trying to help us. Maybe what you thought was water was poison.
