i'm gay and I have a cat this is all I need in life
I am so happy today, because I have a new family member.
@hyperresonate and I were on our front porch one day and saw an unfamiliar gray cat in the neighbor’s yard. We called him over, and he BOUNDED over, before attempting to jump onto our porch… and failed. The look of “aw man, I messed up” on his face as he lost his grip and slipped backwards off the porch made us realize that he was something very special.
I asked around and couldn’t find an owner. Friends didn’t seem to recognize him. No microchip to track, either. He had skin conditions that made me think he wasn’t being taken care of, anyway, and he spent waaaay too much time on our property to be owned. I’m pretty sure he was abandoned.
It’s been a couple of weeks now…
Today, I just got an email from our landlord saying that he’d make an exception for us, and let us keep him as an indoor cat.
I’m SO happy. He is the sweetest, most loving boy - I had to momentarily stop writing this post because he flopped into my side for cuddles. His name is Totoro, but we call him Toto for short. We love him and we’re going to treat him with all the love he deserves.
#photo blogiging#i basically quit tumblr in case anyone hadn't noticed#but look at my cat...#i've never had a cat before... i cry...

How to Survive a trip to IKEA
Never go alone- bring a partner. Travel in pairs
Before entering, ensure that someone not entering knows you are going in, and when you expect to be out
Before entering, determine the cause of your mission- your mission objective. Bookcase? Couch? Oven? Meatballs? Figure it out
Upon entering, locate The Path
Do not disengage from The Path until you have reached your mission destination. Many have been lost forever to the wilds of IKEA by not obeying this. Very few are ever located again by the sparse store employees.
Upon reaching your mission destination, you may disengage from The Path ONLY when accompanied by your partner (physical contact should be maintained- ie, holding hands, holding shirt sleeve, both holding an end of a rope, etc)
When you disengage from The Path to acquire the data for your mission objective (ie, the item number for the bookcase, couch, meatballs, etc), it becomes your partner’s responsibility to maintain visual contact with The Path. Much like weeping angel statues, The Path will move if not actively being watched. This will strand you and your partner in the wilds of IKEA, so ensure you choose a partner wisely.
Upon acquiring the mission objective data (ie the item number), navigate back to The Path. You may disengage physical contact with your partner once you have safely returned to The Path
Do not leave The Path again. It will naturally end at the warehouse/stock section. This is a long, huge hall with many branches.
At the entrance of the warehouse section, acquire a cart if necessary. Using your item coordinates, locate your mission objective. Do not leave the main hallway except for the branch where your item is located. Like The Path, the wilds of IKEA sometimes sneak up on travelers that wander the warehouse section
Once your item has been loaded, head to the check out section. Do not touch anything in the boxes along the way. They appear to be full of candles or stuffed animals or useful kitchenware; it is a ruse. They are carnivorous.
After checking out, exit to the loading area. Load your item, and leave.
Do not look in your rearview mirror as you leave. It shouldn’t pursue you if you don’t look back.

Ralph: Master of the cute.
For those wondering how Ralph is doing; he is doing great! He really is not a dog that is hard to manage/keep despite spending ~3+ years in a cage at a dog meat farm. I’ve fostered MUCH more shut down and worse dogs than him that came from US homes or rural strays.
He has never had a potty accident in the house. He loves literally every dog ever and follows Django around the house like a lost puppy (he also sleeps next to Django any time he can; at night he sleeps right outside Django’s crate). He’s fine with the cat and chickens (though not the rabbit lol!). He has a low-moderate energy and mostly just naps all day.He loves running through tall grass outside. He is like a big puppy; constantly curious about EVERYTHING and sometimes testing the world with his mouth (he does have a bit of a chewing problem, but really loves bones and antler chews as well so is easily redirected). He follows people from room to room to watch what they’re doing with eyes full of curiosity. He is a little clumsy but has a big heart so nothing gets him down. He doesn’t seem to mind or care about the TV, music, or loud noises unless they sound like a dog barking ;) He has made it clear he no longer wants to spend any more of his life in a cage and absolutely abhors the crate. He will drool excessively (and I mean like cups) when locked in a crate and gets very upset. However he does much better when free-ranging especially if he’s with the dogs. He looks to the other dogs for confidence and support so much.
He has a heart of gold. This little dog is really special. It’s hard to believe he was destined for a dinner plate. He goes up for adoption in a few days and this one will be a hard one to give up. I will be making double sure that his new home is a VERY special one, and better send me updates on him throughout his life… or else ;)

Dearly Beloved is the perfect nerd song to play at your wedding because people would be like “yo this song is so pretty what is it called??” and you can just be like “Dearly Beloved” and they’ll think its specifically for weddings, not from a videogame that features Mickey Mouse beating up monsters with a key

Digital Intimacy
knowing when your friend is out of the house, because their phone capitalises their messages
noticing they’re down because that was the wrong emoticon
lol vs lmao vs hahaha vs ahaha
subtly wrapping your schedule around the edges of timezones on the other side of the world
conversations that play out over a week because you’re both perpetually idle but you want to know how they’re doing
not being able to wake up for an alarm, but leaping halfway across the house for the message alert you’ve been waiting for
talking to the same person about different topics in three conversations simultaneously
knowing when your friends have been spending time together because they start to type alike
watching them start and stop typing over and over and not interrupting, because this must be important
#queue blogiging#the first one though#my phone keyboard updated and now it doesn't autocapitalize i at the beginning of sentences#so unless what i'm saying has an i later in the sentence than the first word#you can't tell if i'm on my phone 0_0#poor egg gf will never know anymore
