     “ OR YOU CAN WATCH WHERE YOU’RE GOING ! ” Tone seething, his upper body curls forward, but it’s hard to argue with an injured person, let alone an injured woman. Clearly, it is his fault, accident or not, and the best course of action would be to take responsibility, right? Observant eyes bounce between her ankles, comparing the differences. There’s no way she can walk, and he won’t get any points for making a scene. In reflexive response to her pain, his right hand extends, hovering, before gently placing a cold palm over her knee. “ Don’t move, ” he murmurs, retrieving his phone and dialing a memorized number. 

     “ ‘Ey, Murata, listen—I messed up. ” Pause. “ Nah, I hurt someone, an innocent. ” His voice lowers, avoiding eye contact. “ Sprained ankle, and it’s looking worse by the minute. Can you take her? Yeah? Sure—thanks. ” After hanging up, Mika removes his grip and faces her. “ Ride’s on the way. I’m taking you to my doctor so he can fix you, then someone will drop you off at your place with crutches. We good?”

❝ I was watching where I was going ! You stretched your legs out at a stupidly unreasonable time ! ❞ At this point she’s just taking all her frustration with the day itself out on him ( she just wanted a break and a big glass of wine and to tall it a day already ). Dark hues dart straight to that hand on her knee and then to stare him down while he decides he’s going to make a phone call of all things.

Murata. She makes it a point to memorize the name just because she always does that with things from conversations ( she memorizes things that she feels are important for later ). A private doctor? Something about this was either really fishy or he was loaded in money and could afford a private doctor. ❝ You have some sort of private doctor or ? That’s just a little odd for me to wrap my head around. How am I supposed to trust this situation ? Is he a real doctor ? ❞ She’d know if he was a real doctor right away at least, given her status as a nurse she can pick someone off in that aspect. ❝ We’ll be good when all this is over and I am home with a glass of wine in my hand. That sound fair ? ❞

     THIS CAN’T GET A N Y WORSE. Distant scarlets stare through the woman for more than sixty seconds, brows low, tangled with irritation. All he did was stretch his legs; how was he supposed to know that she’d trip and twist her ankle like some clumsy fuckup? 

     What if his superiors find out? A foreigner causing this kind of inconvenience could be grounds for deportation—or imprisonment.  

     Fuck. Teeth grind, trying to keep his stress under wraps. “ I don’t get off on this type of shit, lady, so don’t fucking start. Just…tell me to do. ” An odd request, but he’s not a nurse, and he’s certainly not some hero who can wrap injuries. “ Hold up. ” Mika groans and pulls at his jeans, kneeling to get a closer look. “ Is it just me or is your ankle turning purple? ”

𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐰𝐥  𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬  𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧  𝐡𝐞𝐫  features  because  not  only  does  she  have  to  deal  with  her  now  fucked  up  ankle,  she  also  has  to  deal  with  his  bad  attitude.  Today  truly  was  not  her  day  (  then  again  most  days  were  a  pain  in  her  ass  so  this  wasn’t  really  news  to  her  ).  

❝  I’m  not  starting  anything.  You  started  this  when  you  caused  me  to  trip  up  over  your  stupidly  long  legs!  ❞  Aggravation  can  be  heard  in  words  that  tumble  past  her  lips  but  there  was  also  the  flitters  of  pain  that  could  be  seen  in  her  eyes  (  the  windows  to  the  soul  is  what  they  are  ).  

Onyx  hues  dart  down  to  stare  at  her  ankle  that  was  rapidly  turning  purple.  ❝  That’s  typically  what  happens  when  you  twist  your  ankle.  There’s  also  swelling,  compare  it  to  my  other  ankle  and  you  can  tell  just  how  much  swelling  is  there.  ❞  There’s  a  long  huff  and  a  stubborn  attempt  at  moving  her  ankle  (  which  she  knows  better  than  to  do  as  a  nurse  but  there  was  the  keyword  stubborn  there  ).  There’s  a  hiss  and  a  string  of  swears  uttered  under  her  breath  after  her  little  attempt.  ❝  It  will  need  to  be  elevated  and  have  ice.  It’d  also  do  well  to  wrap  it  but  I  have  nothing  to  wrap  it  with  and  chances  are  you  don’t  either.  ❞
