tried to illustrate This One Paragraph from @luminantrondo 's fic (Broken Stars) (<- leads to the chapter this scene is from) (thank you so much for letting me!)
I really loved the way casting magic was described here because I hadn't really thought of it as anything beyond a game mechanic previously, whereas this associates it with a physical experience Kinda. Which is really cool! There are some other instances of this throughout the fic I think but this one's my favourite

old drawing, polished recently.
to make space for new stuff, i really need to either scrap or finish all the incomplete pieces i have lying around. there are so many of them and it's starting to feel like a burden. so i'll focus on that for now.
illustration for the scene below the cut:
The day before the Blue Lions were set to depart for Gaspard, Dimitri found himself wandering the library with a vague intention of beginning an essay due in the first week of the Blue Sea Moon. In truth, he wasn’t in the right frame of mind to write. Restlessness consumed him, and keeping himself occupied felt like the only way to avoid dwelling too deeply on his tangled emotions.
The quiet solitude of the library should have been calming, but Dimitri's thoughts remained elsewhere as he roamed the rows of towering bookshelves. His steps were aimless, his fingers occasionally grazing the spines of books he had no intention of reading. Then, something—or rather, someone—broke through his haze of distraction.
Claude.
He was standing at the far end of one corridor, utterly engrossed in the book he held, the faint glow of sunlight from a nearby window illuminating his profile. Dimitri hesitated for a moment, watching as Claude’s lips moved faintly, almost imperceptibly, as if tasting the words on the page.
Before he realized it, he had drifted closer. He stopped just a few steps away, unwilling—or perhaps unable—to announce his presence. Instead, he lingered, studying Claude’s features: the sharp line of his jaw, the slight curve of his nose, the way his brow furrowed ever so slightly in concentration.
The sudden snap of Claude closing his book broke the spell. He turned to face Dimitri with one eyebrow arched, looking both amused and slightly suspicious.
“Were you trying to sneak up on me?” Claude asked, his tone quiet but teasing.
Dimitri stiffened, shaking his head. “I didn’t want to disturb your concentration,” he replied, though the excuse sounded thin even to his own ears.

i'm not sure what i want to focus on in 2025 artwise (rough? polished? both?)
something I drew for this scene (from drawerfic no. 4345687):
“Your stomach is like a slab of solid rock—pure muscle,” Claude blurted out suddenly, clearly desperate to steer the conversation elsewhere. He reached over, pinching the taut skin in demonstration. Dimitri flinched, twisting away from the teasing touch. “No fat at all. Makes me think I should hit the weights more often.”
“You definitely should,” Dimitri replied earnestly, too earnestly perhaps.
Claude froze, his hands releasing Dimitri's stomach. “…Okay? Well, thanks for that boost of confidence. Do you think I’m too soft or something?”
Dimitri’s brow furrowed, realizing how his words must have sounded. That hadn’t been his intention at all.
“No,” he said quickly, though the response felt clumsy. It was actually a matter of practicality: without regular conditioning, Claude risked reaching a plateau in his archery and swordsmanship—two skills that required not just finesse but strength.
Of course, Dimitri couldn’t exactly say that. It would raise too many questions, like why he had noticed that Claude tended to skip muscle training when he was feeling lazy. Or why Dimitri had even begun paying close enough attention to track Claude’s habits in the first place.
