When a man randomly fell through her roof one day Orihime had, at first, thought she'd fallen into another daydream. So when he had frantically grabbed her shoulders and begged, pleaded, for her to say she was his sister, she had agreed to his request. The man's face changed from panicked to joyful as he picked Orihime up and spun her around in gratitude. In response she grinned thinking this was a really great dream, she had a brand new brother! Not that she'd ever want to replaced Sora in anyway.
It was somewhere into the second spin that three big men broke down Orihime's door, giant swords drawn at the ready. What occurred after this remains to be a bit of a blur to Orihime.
In summary there were threats, pointed swords, and it ended up with them forcibly taking her away from her house to 'pay off her brother dearests debts'. And that was how Orihime ended up where she currently was, hands bound and in the back of a caravan about to be sold. Even though she was torn between crying and laughing, because this was all so ridiculous it absolutely had to be a dream, she held onto a certain facade of calmness.
Orihime stared at the dirty canvas that served to block out the hot sun and shook with the rickety cart she sat in. She was hot, sweaty, and very tired from having refused to sleep in two days. Clear as water, the same water she desperately wished for as they hadn't given her any despite the oppressive heat, she could hear Tatsuki's strong voice in her head telling her this is what happens when you accept weird offers from strangers.
That thought made her smile a little bit, she missed Tatsuki a lot since she'd moved away. And Orihime knew in her heart of hearts that had she been around she would have somehow managed to save her. Alas there was no time to continue down that route of thought though as one of the thugs that had grabbed her pounded on the side of the cart. "Hop out princess! You've reached your last stop with us so get yer ass out of there."
Flinching at the way the wood beneath her shuddered from his fist Orihime answered him quietly, politely, but as though there had been any question about it, "No thank you."
The thug grunted and ignored her tentative rebellion completely. He reached inside the cart and hauled her out by her arm. Orihime made to elbow him in the face, it was something like a last ditch effort of escape, but he caught her elbow and threw her over his shoulder. Struggling against the man Orihime was carried along a few dozen paces before she was dropped unceremoniously on her bum.
"Here's your pack mule merchant."
Orihime squinted at the bright sunlight as she looked up to see the man she'd just been sold to. Surprisingly he wasn't skeevy or evil looking as she'd imagined. No, he in fact looked a bit like a scarecrow what with his blonde hair and confounded expression. Unable to filter her thoughts from reaching her mouth Orihime proceeded to blurt her musings aloud.
"I'm sorry for calling you a scarecrow," she barked out immediately afterwards with wide eyes. Averting her eyes to the caravan that was now driving away Orihime sweated not only from the hot sun but in fear for having spoken so brazenly.

"Orihime? Can I come in?" her father asked softly.
So consumed was in trying to not think about her hair, or lack there of, it took a few seconds for the words Kisuke's voice spoke to really make it to her brain. When the words finally were processed it took another moment to formulate an answer. Orihime didn't want company but she didn't want to deny Kisuke either. Ultimately she gave in to his request and responded with a murmured, "You can come in."
Leaning her head against her folded up knees Orihime  turned her head and attention to the door waiting for him to enter. For a split second something almost like a smile flitted across her lips as watched the door slowly swing open.
There were no words for how she appreciated Kisuke's patience with her, never pushing her for words or expecting her to just bounce back. It was in his gentle cautious and sweet actions that Orihime found some comfort in pain and blame that she had heaped upon herself. In some ways she wanted to compare him to Sora and how he'd cared for her once, but it always felt wrong. Like trying to saying that mushrooms and peaches were the same kind of delicious as habanero peppers mixed with mango chili. Such was Kisuke and Sora, both two of her most precious people but they were different, and she'd have it no other way.
Sometime in her musing Kisuke had come to fully stand in her room and Orihime asked softly not quite finding it in herself to pretend a smile, "What do you need Daddy?"
Tumblr media
Kisuke had never asked questions as to the relationship Orihime had with her brother, Sora. All he truly knew about was the scenario that took place a long time ago, between Orihime and her former guardian. While his existence was shrouded in mystery, the shopkeeper still respected him. It was gratuitous to respect the dead, but commonplace nonetheless.
He admired the bond they shared; jealousy was unsightly, and therefore unwelcome beknownst to the man. While it’s true he wished for details, it was simple curiosity, and nothing more. He had learned very early on to not push matters, to not ask the now woman questions that probed into her life. There simply was some things better left unsaid.
So when Orihime’s hair was suddenly chopped off, he, at once, understood why it was traumatizing, and never spoke a word. He simply provided silent comfort, unwilling to break the silence, for it wasn’t needed. Her hair, her orange elongated locks, were sentiment to her of the lost loved one, something Kisuke had always found beautiful amongst humans; so he waited it out; she would tell him when she was ready.
Tumblr media
“Orihime?” Kisuke’s quiet voice broke through the barrier of the door, only knocking quietly, “can I come in?”

When Orihime had seen that hollow ready to attack an unsuspecting middle schooler she had jumped in without thinking. Her shield was up to defend the poor boy before she had even been conscious of the fact she wanted to defend him. The battle had been rather quick but not without a cost. After all when you are fighting on the behalf on another it leaves yourself open to injury. And in a shower of golden copper strands Orihime had suffer one of her most painful injuries to date.
Before she had vanquished the Hollow it had swiped at her and rather than beheading her, as its intent had been, it had lopped off half of her long tresses with its scythe like appendage. And now Orihime was inconsolable.
It didn't matter that it had been by accident and in no way optional Orihime still felt as though she had betrayed Sora again. He had always loved her hair so much, he'd said it was like god had made her hair specially for her, and once more it was all gone.
Right after the incident in a fit of panicked mania Orihime had tried to even out the damage and just made it worse.
Now her hair brushed against her neck, a constant reminder of what happened, and Orihime had hidden herself in her room refusing to let anyone in but Kisuke. Her shame in her appearance was too great to let anyone see her, to witness what had become of the thing her brother had thought more precious than gold. Orihime only let him in because she knew Kisuke would worry more if he couldn't see her. And even in the state she was in she didn't want to cause any worry to her Daddy Hat'n'Clogs.
Clutching at her knees Orihime stared sullenly at her bedroom wall wishing there was a rewind button to reverse what had happened.

Orihime had been beyond enthused, and more than a mite terrified, when her distant Aunt had offered to let her visit her home during the summer. Seeing as she'd never gotten much of a chance to spend a lot of time with her Aunt Nana she had immediately accepted the invitation. And so far Orihime had enjoyed the time with her, even if there had been a few awkward moments in the beginning.
But this morning when she had woken up to find a note that her Aunt would be back in three because she'd been called in meet with an out of town client Orihime found herself in an unknown city with no one to talk to. It was rather lonely at first, until she'd decided to treat it as an adventure and search the city like she was a pirate looking for buried treasure. In her adventuring Orihime had stumbled across a bakery that she couldn't resist entering. After all who can resist delicious baked goods?
While perusing the case a sweet voice commented on how good the displayed pastries looked. Turning to look at the person who had addressed her, a younger girl with pretty blonde hair, Orihime responded with a lighthearted chuckle, "They really do look delicious don't they? But I think they are almost too good looking and it is making it hard to choose what I want most!"

{✿} - Poised and serene, a content visage is ever present on the girl’s features. The air was crisp, whilst the sun had bathed the streets with the radiating warmth that Mami had so grown so accustomed to. Hues peered towards the various stores and outlets as a smile tugged onto her lips.

Unbeknownst to her initially, another individual had gazed at the selection. Their presence had caught the teen off-guard, yet her smile never once faltered.

Merry Christmas Daddy Hat'n'Clogs
It had taken nearly four months to complete Kisuke's present.
Had she not been making it in secret Orihime would have made it faster but she was a firm believer in presents being a surprise. Especially birthday and Christmas presents. And since what she'd been working on was a Christmas present it was of the up most importance that he didn't know what she'd made him.
Orihime was happy to say mission accomplished.
With the up most care she folded his gift and placed it on the white side of some cheerful discount wrapping paper she'd picked up a year ago. Kisuke's was her last present to wrap because it was the most important. This was their first Christmas together as father and daughter and Orihime wanted everything to go perfectly.
Deft hands quickly folded and taped the paper neatly leaving behind no awkwardly crinkled folds. When the whole package was secured in the wrapping paper Orihime pulled out a shimmery gray ribbon and tied a simple bow around the package. Her daddy wasn't much for fancy things so she didn't add anything else besides a small tag with his name on it, so that everyone would know it was his gift.
She leaned back and observed her handy work triple checking for any mistakes. Once Orihime was satisfied that it was as perfect as it could be she smiled softly excited for when he would open it.
The not so small insecure part of her brain was worried he wouldn't like the sweater she'd knitted him. After all she'd never seen Kisuke wear anything like it. But she knew if nothing else he would love the effort and thought she'd put into it. Even when Orihime had set pot of water on fire when trying to make him a great Father's Day dinner, how it had happened was an absolute mystery, he hadn't been upset he'd just been glad she was okay. Smiling even more at the warm fuzzy tummy feelings that came from knowing someone loved you utterly and unconditionally Orihime stood up taking the present with her.
Tumblr media
Trying to be as sneaky as possible she stuck her head out of her door making sure no one was awake then crept out of her room and made for where the tree had been set up. Tip toeing her way past everyone's rooms she managed to be quiet, for her, and made it to her destination. Silently she high-fived herself before kneeling at the base of the tree.
Orihime slipped the present under the tree imagining what the sweater would look like on Kisuke.
The dull metal colored yarn she'd chosen would look good with his hair. Although she might have gone a bit far in knitting in the words 'World's Best Dad' in black bold print on the front and back. There was no way to know if how much he would love it or dislike it until tomorrow morning though. Christmas morning. The first Christmas morning with her new family.
Giggling with joy at such thoughts she flopped down on her back to stare at the Christmas tree from a new perspective. At first Orihime thought herself too excited to sleep even for a moment, really she felt like she used to while waiting for Santa. But while gazing at the fairy lights that were still on and wrapped amongst the branches she did exactly that.
It was the best sleep she'd ever had.

A drabble about Orihime on her wedding day:
Orihime had pictured her future a million different times and in hundreds of thousands of different ways. And while some of those fantasies had involved her getting married in truth she had never thought it would really happen.
It wasn't that Orihime thought no one would ever want to marry her, or that she would never want to marry anyone at all, it just didn't seem like it would ever happen.
But here she was standing one step away from the aisle that lead to marriage.
She couldn't breathe and it was the most precious moment of breathlessness Orihime had ever known.
The music started up beckoning her to walk forward and all the guests turned to watch her with excitement in their eyes. The church was beautifully adorned in flowers of every color, and her fiancee stood there at the end of it all beaming at her with a smile reserved only for her. Everything looked perfect, everything was perfect except for one thing.
Orihime would be walking down the aisle alone.
Until this moment the thought of having no one to walk with her to the alter hadn't bothered her a bit. But now that she was one step away from it all the thought of moving forward was terrifying.
The sudden fear of continuing on alone made no logical sense to Orihime. But then again when do feelings and logic coincide?
Hands ever so slightly trembling around the bouquet of chrysanthemums she held Orihime desperately, selfishly, wished her brother was still alive if only for a moment, to be here, to give her the strength to walk forward.
And then a warm arm slipped into the crook of her own.
Startled she looked up and felt relief seep through her when she saw a familiar face smiling softly down at her.
“I hope this isn't too presumptuous of me,” he whispered looking a little scared that Orihime would indeed think this too much.
She smiled brilliantly as the sun and shook her head tears of happiness gleaming like gossamer in the corners of her eyes.
“No it isn't too much.”
Properly grasping his arm they stepped forward in unison no more words needing to be said. Orihime looked as much the blushing bride as anyone could ever be as they slowly marched down the aisle. The anxiety from before melting away to be replaced by a happiness that words could never describe. And her partner almost looked the part of father of the bride except to for a bright green and white striped hat that clashed horribly with his suit.
When the aisle ended and he went to go back to his seat Orihime stopped him. Reaching up to plant a sweet kiss against his cheek she murmured, “Thank you Kisuke.”
His responding grin was the kind only a father could give his daughter.

She was relieved to hear that girls did indeed giggle when they had fun. Although Orihime was just a bit disappointed to hear that they didn't joust because it sounded like it could have been real fun. But that really didn't matter because Rukia agreed to help her on her righteous quest! There were very few words to explain how happy it made her to have Rukia want to help her in finding Ichigo's diary.
Tumblr media
"Yes lets go look for his diary!" she exclaimed as a queen would declare war.
Quite literally jumping up and down with joy Orihime grinned and took the smaller girls hands into her own in her excitement before rambling semi-seriously, "But I should tell you that I don't have any concrete evidence to prove the existence of his diary. That is why we must hunt for it like we would a wild boar."
Realizing that what she'd said wasn't the most reassuring thing Orihime continued, "Although I am 99.9% sure it does indeed exist! My feminine intuition is only wrong when it comes to guessing if jars of pickled cucumbers are old or not. Also I saw him writing in something that looked like a diary a week ago."
Happy with her reassurances Orhime briefly considered what should happen next. She hadn't really planned too far after recruiting Rukia because without the shinigami the operation couldn't really happen. And even if the plan could work without her it just wouldn't be worth it because it just wouldn't be as fun.
"Soooooo do you have any idea's on how to distract Kurosaki-kun long enough to search his room Rukia-san?"
Super Secret Agent (Wo)men
Orihime had certainly seemed enthusiastic for the activity she had in mind. It was to be expected of her bubbly personality of course, though Rukia had already found herself engrossed as to what it could possibly be. However, her pause had caught her attention. The brunette was almost tempted to ask what was wrong, until she had decided to speak up once more.
And thus had she found herself confused. What exactly had were they going to do? From the sound of it, Rukia would have assumed they were…’borrowing’ something. A book, most likely, given that Orihime had mentioned reading it. While she was still puzzled, the thought of spending time with her friend outweighed it. Mostly.
Tumblr media
"I…think most girls giggle when they have fun. I can’t really say anything about jousting though." The Kuchiki admitted. Despite that, the revelation of the object in question had led Rukia to raise a brow.
"Ichigo has a diary? I never knew that." Her expression was one of surprise, borderline awe. It was astounding as to how Orihime’s choice of words and overall personality could make such an impression on the Shinigami. It had taken a few moments for everything to sink in, yet after mentally shrugging to herself, Rukia felt as if no real harm would result from this. Tiers pulled into an all familiar smile as she gave her a nod.
"Let’s go look for his diary then!"

Posing all silly like for Kisuke's pictures Orihime thought to herself this had to be the best Halloween ever. And it had barely already even started!
Tumblr media
His compliments made her blush happily and almost, almost, distracted her from her diabolical plans. Grabbing her father's arm to stop him Orihime exclaimed, "But we can't show Yoruchi-san yet! You don't have your costume on Daddy!"
It was absolutely adorable. Kisuke smiled in spite of himself as he watched her flap her wings. He thought she would make a good ladybug, and he was almost never wrong. Chuckling, he found his camera and began snapping photos.
Tumblr media
"You look amazing, Orihime-chan," he turned after settling on which photos to keep, "now lets go show Yoruichi-san. She’s been asking me what you’re planning on wearing."

Orihime smiled at her fathers soft voice extremely excited to show him what she'd concocted for Halloween this year. Really she was just excited to be spending Halloween with him.
Tumblr media
"Yup I'm ready!!" she answered spinning around dramatically she twirled around in her lady bug costume. Flapping her red and black spotted cape wings Orihime fluttered about like she imagined a lady bug did.
"Do you like it Daddy Hat'n'Clogs?"
Getting ready for the festivities of the day, Kisuke knocked quietly on Orihime’s door, murmuring an apology before coming in slowly.
Tumblr media
"Are you ready, Orihime-chan?" he inquired, fiddling around in his pocket for his camera, "show me what you plan on wearing."

"Yup! It will be an adventure to be remembered for hundreds of years!" she boasted happily.
But while Orihime was relieved that Rukia seemed open to her plot, without even having heard what it was about, her response made her pause for a second. It didn't belong to her, not really. Would that make her hesitant to find Ichigo's diary? Maybe, maybe not, Rukia did like to mess with Ichigo. Either way there was only one way to find out.
"Wellll," she drawled, "It isn't mine but we aren't going to be stealing it. Just finding it, reading it, giggling about it maybe. That is what girls do when they find funny things right? Or do they do something else like jousting?"
Tumblr media
Temporarily distracted by that thought -Orihime was quite sure that girls did do that when they found funny things together but Tatsuki had never been much of a giggler on their adventures  so she wasn't sure- it took her a moment to remember to explain what exactly she wanted Rukia's help in finding.
"Oh but that isn't really on topic is it?" she said apologetically before continuing dramatically, "What we are looking for is, dot dot dot, Kurosaki Ichigo's Diary!"
Holding out her hands as though she had unveiled a statue and Orihime cackled, just a little bit. Things really were just so much more fun when done in the most ostentatious way.
Super Secret Agent (Wo)men
"Ah, is that right? It’s good to hear that you’re doing well too." The Kuchiki chuckled lightly as she continued her pace. It was truly nice to speak with her friend once more. Rukia’s new duties as a lieutenant had made time in the Human World sparse, and to see Orihime again was truly a treat. Hopefully the two would have enough time to catch up with one another. She could only imagine what sort of crazy antics Orihime had done in her absence. The very thought was genuinely amusing to her.
Upon hearing the inquiry, Rukia’s brows would pull upwards in slight confusion. An adventure? Stealth? This had started to sound like an assignment, in a way. Surely she hadn’t been wrapped in anything with the Gotei 13? Even with her affiliation with Ichigo, such a notion seemed highly unlikely. Then what exactly had she been referring to? A small, yet twitchy smile had soon surfaced on the Shinigami’s features, coinciding with her perplexed look. “A-An adventure?” She repeated.
Tumblr media
"Well…I don’t really mind, in all honesty. It sounds like fun, actually. And what exactly are we looking for? Does it belong to you?" She had mentioned that it would be difficult to find. Part of her had hoped she wasn’t referring to something like a dodo bird.

Staring down at the confusing mixture of symbols, letters, and numbers on the paper Orihime was at a loss for what it meant. And she knew it had to mean something otherwise why would her teacher hand it out to be done? A few moments later, brain feeling particularly mushy and broken, she wondered if anyone could help her.
Much happier with combing her brain for people who understood advanced mathematics rather than trying to solve the problems a metaphorical light bulb went off almost immediately. Her father Kisuke invented things, and inventions required math to be put together right? Whipping her head around she called out to him.

There was a time in her life where Orihime hadn't known that her name could be said in such a way. So gentle yet so foreboding. As if a prophecy was whispered somewhere in those two words and it spoke of doom and death. Steeling herself Orihime lifted up her chin and stared directly at him, Aizen.
Perhaps it was foolish to look upon a master illusionist but Orihime knew that even if she didn't look at him she would still be caught in his web. And in all likelihood she was already entangled in the silky threads of deceit. So what was the harm of holding her head eye and keeping her gaze strong when really in the long run it just didn't matter.
Tumblr media
"Aizen," she responded softly, questioningly, trying to hide the fear that he inspired in her very soul.
Tumblr media
"Orihime Inoue," words so gentle were spoken towards the past princess of Hueco Mundo. The air filled ever so delicately with tension as a cacophony of questions would soon circle the air like crows, waiting for a moment to strike. Calm steps and strong eyes moved, trancing the poor woman with simple observation, making light of pleasantries only established to her.

It had been one of those days where everything seems pointless except to bathe in the light of the sun.
Never one to purposefully deny herself something that is both free and of no consequence to others Orihime had done just that. Early in the day she had packed herself a small lunch, complete with a checkered red blanket, before trekking out a nearby park. Once there she had wasted no time in plopping down in the sunniest spot and basking in everything the sun had to offer.
Orihime had been on the verge of falling asleep when a glint of green sparkled in the peripherals of her lowering eyelids. Rolling over to look at what shiny thing had caught her attention she was surprised to see a waterfall of green hair that for a second made her think Nel, an older less busty Nel, was standing a meter or two away. Only it wasn't Nel, her hair wasn't that smooth nor her figure so statuesque.
Sitting up almost violently Orihime asked excitedly, "Hello are you Nel's older sister?"

Wondering through a small forest was pleasure to C.C., quietly contemplating the beauty within the nice patch, even if it was quite small. There was something ethereal about the forest in the middle of an area so foreign to her.
Falling out of the forest she caught a glimpse of orange hair, the beauty catching her golden eyes even more as she turned to get a better look.

Drabble for Gup-Butt, I mean Enosia:
It was an accident, Orihime hadn't been thinking before talking. No she had just been doing what she did best, saying the exact thought on her mind.
"Kisuke-Daddy I think I need a new bra."
Busy fiddling with her bra, that was being not so supportive and pokey, she missed the look of utter blank horror beyond all reason that settled briefly on Kisukes face. When she did look up to him said expression was replaced by a stressed smile.
Voice cracking like a pubescent boy he answered, "Of course Orihime, anything for you dear."
Worried about her Father, he only made that expression when she wanted to cook apple mango jalapeno poppers, she managed to smile in a thankful way. Before she could question Kisuke about his behavior he was already up and looking for his wallet. This only exacerbated her worry because he was walking around like his legs were made of noodles.
Orihime quickly jumped up just barely managing to catch him before he fell down.
"Are you  okay Daddy? Did some weird mushroom mold alien baby invade your body?!" she cried out panicking. If she lost him to a mushroom mold alien baby she'd never forgive herself.
The fantastic father he was Kisuke patted her head in a soothing manner. "I'm okay Orihime-chan, perfectly fine just a little light headed. I can stand on my own now."
Not 100% convinced her Daddy was okay, but trusting his evaluation of himself, Orihime let go of his torso but hovered nearby protectively. He wobbled a bit at first like a newborn colt before regaining his land legs. With a deep breath his aura seemed to harden like someone preparing for a battle they would lose.
Grabbing his wallet Kisuke smiled at his daughter, "Okay what store do we need to go to Orihime-chan?"
Scared by the phoney smile on his face she wondered if he knew that she didn't need a new bra right this second. And that he really didn't need to accompany her to the store. Blushing Orihime deeply regretted having said anything, this wouldn't end well she just knew it.
Sometime later at a lingerie shop
"So w-w-what size are you Orihime? And do you like this pattern? I-It's very youth-youthful!" Holding up a way small bra that was neon yellow with green polka dots Kisuke looked as if he had seen better days.
Visibly shaking, his face was pale and covered in sweat; The man looked one second away from a nervous breakdown.
If there was any consolation to be had it was that Orihime was not fairing any better. Hands pressed over her burning face she felt faint. Why, why did they always end up in situations like these? She had been right on the dot in thinking this wasn't going to go well. At. All.
What neither of them could imagine was that is was about to get worse, infinitely worse.
"Excuse me young lady," said a deep voice that was attached to a particularly intimidating security guard of this particular store, "Is this man troubling you?"
Pointing to her father the man looked ready to call the police on her behalf. Squeaking Orihime tried to sputter out that he was her father and it was okay, but that was hardly convincing as Kisuke had suddenly decided trying on bras for her was the best way to help her find one.
On the verge of tears Orihime wondered if running away would fix everything.
