Secret Love Song-Taekook/Vkook

Jungkook

Sometimes, Jungkook wished his dreams were reality. And not the weird dreams where a huge monster entered their concert with a ticket and started screaming Linkin Park lyrics. No, he wanted his other dreams to be real. 

Like the one he had last night, where he and Taehyung, his fellow bandmate and boyfriend of 2 years were in a club, and they made out. Or the one where Taehyung kissed him in front of fans after he proposed to him on a busy road in Seoul.

Jungkook disliked-no, he hated the fact that he and Taehyung couldn’t date in public. Their PR manager said it would be too risky, given that South Korean audiences would not have to best reaction to Jungkook coming out as bisexual, or Taehyung coming out as gay, let alone them revealing that they were in love with each other. And they couldn’t do that to the band, not after they had been so supportive of the couple. So, the opted to keep their relationship a secret, reducing it to stolen glances at each other and flirting that could be passed off as fanservice.Sometimes, Jungkook cries when they are returning from an interview. He makes sure Taehyung sits in front, so that his lover can’t see his tears. He cries because he can’t be honest in interviews. If someone asks them if any of them are dating, Jungkook has to lie. If someone asks whether they are in love, or who their love songs are about, he has to lie again. And Jungkook hates lying, especially about stuff that means so much to him.If he had a choice, he would shout from the fucking rooftop of the BigHit building that he and Tae were in love, and they were dating, and that Jungkook wanted to propose to him soon, but hadn’t bought a ring yet. Even if he could shout just once, it would be okay.

Taehyung

Ever since he was a child, Taehyung had loved the concept of having a soulmate. Someone who fit with you perfectly like the way two puzzle pieces fit together. Someone who, no matter how many ups and downs you faced, would always be there by your side. For a very long time, he thought it was Jimin, but in fact, it was someone else.Jungkook was his soulmate. He was someone who contrasted yet mixed perfectly with him. Jungkook was someone who knew exactly what Tae needed at any point, whether he needed a hug after a long day, or a bowl of ramen after a round of rough sex that left Taehyung sore. Sometimes, Taehyung was surprised that, put of all the people in the world, Jungkook had chosen him, with all his flaws and insecurities. And he knew that Jungkook felt the same, after the night where Jungkook had cried because he thought that their management was going to make them break up.

Taehyung would love to tell the truth about him and Jungkook to people. He hated that “Taekook” was just reduced to fanfiction and theory videos when it was so much more than that. He hated that their love for each other was reduced to stolen kisses after performances and secret glances during interviews and shoddy flirting. Of course, every now and then they did something that was put under fan speculation, but that was it.

That’s why Taehyung was sitting on his computer, writing an e-mail to their management with the title ‘Request to reveal relationship’. He hadn’t told Jungkook yet, but he would before he sent it, and the mail was far from ready. Namjoon hyung, upon hearing Taehyung complain about keeping it a secret, suggested that he could try writing a letter to their management and telling them that he wished to reveal his relationship. Most of their fanbase shipped them, so they would probably love to see them as a couple, it was more or less obvious at this point, and Taehyung thought that this would really help the LGBTQ community in Korea if they came out. It would help normalize gay couples, and maybe give other idols a chance to come out. And then hopefully other people would come out, and South Korea would cave in to make these people feel safe, after all, no one should be discriminated based on who they loved.

It was a small step to the start of getting their management to help Jungkook and Taehyung come out as a couple. And he didn’t want to start hoping too soon, but he could already imagine a world where they had come out; a world where their love song wasn’t a secret anymore.
