HER SHOULDERS DROPPED AS SOON AS HE DENIED BEING MECHANIC. Lips displayed more of her disappointment as she frowned, arms crossed over her chest as she looked helplessly at the bike. She was a first time rider, and of course now it decided to not work on her after a couple of months being here. It also had be the night she snuck out too. If all hope fails, she would have to admit defeat and call a very upset father. Not how she hoped the night would go. A sigh slipped through parted lips, a hand went to lightly pat her forehead, and then had her fingers trail though weak curls. Awesome.
SHE HAD BEEN FAR TOO DISTRESSED TO REALIZE HE WAS being playful until he started speaking again. He had a bike too, and had more experience working on them than she did. She should probably change that if she was going to keep this bike. It would just have to go on her ever growing list, “ Michael, ” her voice soft, breathing a sigh of relief to have a name with his face. Her body was also relaxing, “ I’m Tammy. ” she greeted, flashing him a smile of her own. This situation seemed less threatening now that they established names, however, that never really— okay, she was jumping to conclusions. Her father’s training was starting to get irritating. TAMMY GESTURED TO HER BIKE, A SMALL WAY TO LET him know that he was safe to approach. After that gesture she placed her hands in the back pocket of her jeans, “ Yeah, it's an older one. It was my dad’s. He said I could have it if I wanted it, ” Tammy looked down at it with a certain fondness, “ I don’t know much about them, but it was working fine this morning and the months before. ”
" Not exactly a mechanic. "
Michael returns her playful tone and even goes so far as to offer her a half-smile. He wasn't a mechanic by any means, but he knew his way around bikes. He'd been hand-fixing his own for a few years ( two, sure, but that was enough to know his way around it ) and he figured he could give her a hand. Hopefully, at least. He was hoping it was just a minor ignition problem, maybe a clogged up vent, and not something that'd need tools. He wasn't sure if she carried them with her, though... the bike didn't look new. Older model, definitely been out on the road before. Maybe this was a problem she'd been having then? Or, hell, maybe it was used. Not as if standing around and looking at it was going to tell him anything. He gestures with his head and eyes, a sign he'd like to move closer without suddenly encroaching on the girl. He was, at least, aware this time around how he might look.
" I've got a bike myself though and I've been fixing it for a few years. You've got a nice bike, have you had it for awhile? " Michael looks it over again before he turns back to the girl, " Or is it used?... So I know what kind of trouble you might be having. I'm guessing it's not starting? "
A usual problem. And probably the only problem. He figured she wouldn't be standing around here looking lost if the bike was in any condition to drive out of there. It didn't look damaged from the outside, so definitely some kind of internal issue.
" I'm Michael, by the way, " He figured introducing himself might put the girl at ease, especially since he was bombarding her with questions.

A FLEETING CRUSH WAS ALL IT WAS AND WILL BE. TAMMY could never have the stomach to actually talk to anyone she found attractive— wait, that would be a lie. Granted, Michael came to her first, but she was still able to talk with him. Beside the point, Mercy was right. He was a vampire, and that’s what she was trained all her life to kill. Tammy wasn’t even sure if she could. Sure she was deadly with a weapon if given the chance, but how could she even attack one when she could hardly talk to one as it was? Even if she could, then being friends complicated things a lot more, “ Hey, I can admit boys can be ‘ew’. I’ve been to school, I know how they can be, ” she chuckled, following Mercy in their action of leaning forward on the railing. Browns watched the waves in the distance, listening to the faint sound of them crashing against the shore, “ Oh? ” Tammy lifted her gaze to Mercy’s, “ Kinda hard to miss, huh? She is pretty cute, isn’t she? ” a grin started to form at the corner of her lips, “ How often do you get video recommendations? ” It was her turn to tease.
𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿. well as normal as they could be for someone who was trained to hunt and kill monsters like they were. teasing tammy about boys could be a conversation that most people dismissed, even if they were teasing her about her 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵 on a vampire, which was ridiculous as well as amusing. pushing their sunglasses up to the top of their head, blonde strands moving back out of their face as they gave her a smirk, " sure, that's exactly what you think, boys are ew, " mercy teased, a playful look on their face as they moved to lean against the railing as they looked at her, " you don't have to talk to him to stake him, which is what you should be doing, not making friends, " they pointed out, playful tone still obvious because they completely understood that it wasn't as easy as they had been led to believe. but this group was 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁, they couldn't just kill one, they would have to take them all out. yet the moment tammy brings up the pretty girl from the video store, it was mercy's turn to blush slightly, not hugely obvious, just a slight raise of pink to the cheeks, " she's kinda impossible not to notice . . . plus she's always got great film recommendations, "

𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐎𝐌 𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐔𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐒.
@pierprincess blessed: ❛ don’t lie to me. ❜
TAMMY FELT HER FACE FLUSH WITH HEAT— ANGER RISING TO her face. Her fists clench at her sides, nails digging within the flesh with no doubt adding crescent moons. This was the first time she allowed any other expression besides happiness to be noticed. She was an awkward girl, never really sure how to interact with people given most of her life she was hardly socialized. But, hearing those words hurt more than she could realize. Her? Lying? How could she be? How could she lie about something she’s not? Besides, this was what she came out to say after such a long moment of silence? The childish quiet treatment?
HER BROWS FURROWED EVEN MORE, TAKING A HALF STEP FORWARD. Her head lifted, and shifted to the side, “ Me? Lying? How? Oh, what? Because I’m some vampire hunter? I have never killed or hurt anyone until you, and guess what? It was an accident! ” she let her hands relax at her sides, shoulders slumped, “ How can I lie about something I never saw myself as? ”

𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐎𝐌 𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐔𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐒.
@pierprincess blessed: ❛ dangerous to be out so late. ❜
SHE LEANED BACK AGAINST THE POPULAR RAILING WHERE THE LOST Boys usually hung about, her elbows resting on the cool metal, head tilted back, and browns taking in the night sky. The gentle push of waves could lull anyone into a nice sleep. Tammy could easily drift off if she wasn’t careful. Even as she stood here, the waves mixed with distant sounds of joy from the boardwalk, her eyelids were becoming heavy. Darkness wasn't always filled with monsters and evil things. Her father wanted what was best for her, to keep her safe with stories he claimed were real life events, but how could she take him seriously sometimes? And, most importantly, why did something deep within her think he was right? It was troubling for her. All her life she tried to reject it, and now living here… she felt something was wrong. It didn’t help the fact of her friend telling their own stories. A FAMILIAR VOICE CALLED TO HER, BREAKING THE HYPNOTIZING TRANCE of the waves. Tammy lifted her head to find Star. She smiled in response to her words, “ Please, you sound like my dad. If he knew I was out so late he would have a fit, ” she rolled her eyes, “ I’m not too worried. Why? You scared of something? You have those big bad men to keep you safe. ” she said playfully.

SHE HAD BEEN REBELLING MORE NOW THAT SHE HAD THE choice. She had it a few years ago too, but with the health her father was in it was much easier to slip out. She knew it was wrong of her to leave her father unattended when he needed her the most, but then again what was wrong with being gone just a few hours? Besides, her friend also influenced her to sneak out anyway. Bless, Mercy. It felt like she was finally living her life.
THE NIGHT WAS GROWING NEAR THOSE WITCHING HOURS, AND SHE knew it was time to head home. The blackness that surrounded her made her feel anxious, chills ran down her spine, goosebumps crawling along her skin. She didn’t like this part, though. Going home with the childhood stories ringing in her head. But, were they just child fantasies? Those things, those journals in her grandparents’ attic, were they real? It had to be something since Mercy believed it, and they were very serious when speaking about a journal that was brought to her attention. She sighed through parted lips as she finally reached her father’s bike. Moving to straddle it, she went to start it, and… and nothing. A grunt left her as she tried it again, and again, and again, and again— it wasn’t starting. She let her head fall back to let out a loud groan. Not what she needed tonight.
SHE SAT THERE FOR A LONG MOMENT, LETTING THE SILENCE hang heavy around her. She could hear the distant noise of the boardwalk, an eerie sound that reminded her of fluttering bat wings. She shivered. With another sound of discouragement, she dismounted the bike. It looked like she might need to call Mercy— she spun around when she heard a voice. A boy around her age was walking towards her, his question reaching her ears. Her body stiffened a little, muscles ready to pounce, “ I… ” Browns looked down at the said bike, wondering if she should lie or not, “ Yeah, uh, I actually am, ” her eyes looked back to the approaching figure to note his features. And, just like all the rest of the boys who walk the boardwalk, he was handsome, “ It’s not starting. Did the heavens bless me with a mechanic at this hour? ” Hope in her voice though it was playful.
The boardwalk had become Michael's usual haunt. It was the easiest place to find the Lost Boys, the closest to his home, and he figured even if he failed to meet up with them for whatever reason he'd still be getting out of the house for another night. It felt good to just be able to come and go as he pleased, to have a reason to leave his house that wasn't just a lonely drive down the streets of Phoenix until he got too tired to continue driving. Sometimes that didn't even happen and he returned just so his family wouldn't worry, crawling into bed for a restless night just to repeat it again a few nights later. Santa Carla didn't yet feel like a home to him, but it had been the best chance he had a new start. He had a girlfriend now, or at least he thought he did. He hoped he did, anyway. He liked Star, more than any girl he'd ever met before. She was special and, thanks to her, Michael had managed to meet the Lost Boys. They were rough around the edges, not the type of people Michael would ever tell his mother he was spending time with, but he liked them more than he realized. He thought they might have liked him too.
Hence is the reason Michael is here that night, walking through the crowds in hopes of finding them gain. He didn't yet think he could just show up to their little hideout, they weren't that particularly close yet, but he figured running into them on the boardwalk was a decent enough excuse to find them and, more importantly, Star again. Unfortunately for Michael, he hadn't yet caught sight or sound of them. Hence is the reason he had wandered towards the parking lot, hoping to at least see if their bikes were parked there to at least give him a sign if they were actually there that night or if he'd spent more time than necessary searching for ghosts. He's standing at the entrance, hands in his pockets as he scans the vicinity. It was dark, or it should have been dark, but it seemed a lot brighter than it should have. Maybe the moon was helping? Didn't matter to him, really, since it helped him check over the vehicles for anything that looked like those familiar Triumphs. He almost felt a little disheartened when he couldn't spot them and had been ready to return to the boardwalk and get some use out of his night when a figure caught his attention. A girl, he guessed, seemingly struggling with an idling bike. She didn't seem as if she knew what she was doing as far as Michael could tell, and he spent a few moments watching her, debating if he should even approach her in the dark like this.
He argued back it might be worse to just leave her here in the dark, actually, without any apparent transportation. Michael pulls his hands from his pocket as he approaches.
" Excuse me, " He calls when he was a few yards away. He didn't want to scare her.
" Are you having trouble with your bike? "
