location: Outside of Spirits date & time: Tuesday, August 29th at around 1:00am triggers: violence, knives, stabbing, head injury, death
Elijah's night was going just about as well as any other night. A beautiful woman staying over, a few glasses of Tequila really added some spice to the evening before the bottle went dry. All it took was a flutter of her eyelashes for Elijah to take a quick stop by Nightrest liquor. It didn't take too long, but there was a line so he scrolled through the Amazon wish list of a few of the women he knew, clicking buy all a few times before it was his turn and he slipped the phone back into his pocket. After that, he was out within a minute and walking towards his car. One thing he didn't like about this part of town was the parking, he could never just park right in front of where he wanted. He could see his car as he passed Spirits. He wouldn't have noticed anything if he didn't hear, what sounded like a struggle, in the alley beside him.
For a second, he thought someone was getting mugged. Although he had never seen it happen before, he was sure this kind of thing happened plenty in places like this. He grabbed his phone from his pocket, ready to threaten to call the cops before it clicked what he was seeing. They weren't punching this person, they were stabbing them. He knew very well what punching sounded like and this was a sound that he would never be able to unhear. A sound that made him sick to his stomach.
He knew that he should keep moving and act like he didn't see anything. He had only stopped for a moment, there was a chance that the person didn't notice him yet. Right as he went to turn he felt the air grow colder. The person in front of him turned to face him and Elijah's eyes lowered to meet theirs.
Suddenly everything moved very quickly, he had turned away so he didn't know what exactly hit him. The bottle dropped from his hand as he felt the blow to his head. He didn't know if the sound that filled his ears was the bottle shattering against the cement or his skull cracking from the force. He couldn't possibly put to words the way this felt, but he would never have to.
In that brief moment between the force of the blow and his body hitting the ground, it felt like everything went in slow moment. He didn't quite see his life flash before his eyes, it was more like short glimpses of nothing. Nothing real... no substance. Maybe that was his life or lack thereof. He was supposed to have time... Time to get it together and find someone who made it all click for him. Maybe she had doe eyes... or an attitude... or she slipped out of his fingers when the clock struck twelve. This time it was his time that was running out. One chime of the clock between their fingers touching and emptiness. One chime of the clock between having everything and nothing. One chime of the clock between the bright lights behind his eyelids and the neverending darkness that came after.

Analu’s lips curled into a playful grin, her eyes twinkling with amusement. “I can’t believe you forgot about him,” she chuckled, opening the wine bottle to fill their glasses. She let the movie play and leaned against him with a piece of pizza in hand. “You always know what’s going to happen in these romantic comedies, but they’re cute.”
“I’ve only seen this once a million years ago,” Elijah said, with a small laugh. He didn’t really remember anything about the movie so this might as well be his first time seeing it. He kissed the side of her head instinctively, before taking a sip of the wine.

“Well - we’d better get you home before that pint melts.” Her eyes glanced down to the ice cream he’d bought and trailed back up his figure, shamelessly checking him out. “Thank you,” because Eden never forgot her manners, eating a spoonful of her own ice cream as they stepped out of the shop, “Which one’s your car?”
Elijah was lucky to remember his ice cream at all with her around taking every bit of his attention. “You’re welcome,” he said, knowing right now that he would buy her anything she asked for. “Mine’s the red Corvette,” he answered, as he pulled out his keys and unlocked the doors. Opening the passenger door, he gave her a small smirk.
mvrrow:
“Really?” Even though he sounded genuine - Eden felt a little skeptical. It’d been a while since a man’s offered to buy an entire shop for her - and she’d be lying if she said she hadn’t missed the feeling. She hummed, casting a small, sly grin towards his direction. “Hmm - maybe you, as long as the clock doesn’t strike twelve.”
If Elijah described his perfect fantasy girl, she still wouldn’t be able to hold a candle to Eden. “Well, my day is yours to do with as you please,” he smirked, before handing his card to the cashier.

“If you get hurt again, you’ll come back here, okay? If I didn’t totally suck at science, I think I would’ve gone to nursing school.” Granted, she wasn’t really good in any of the required subjects, but Mei liked to imagine the what-ifs. It was a lot easier than thinking about reality anyway. At his question, she can’t really help the immediate pause, not knowing what to say either, eyes glancing between the spot she was nursing, to his lips, to his eyes. “Uh, I don't… um—doesn’t your lip still hurt? I think I can see a little… redness,” she says weakly, cheeks flushed with pink as she avoids his gaze.
“Promise,” Elijah said, figuring this was the positive side of him getting hit somewhat regularly. There was something about her soft demeanor that made it hard to focus on just about anything else. “It’d be worth it,” he answered, before bringing his finger to her chin and lifting her back to his gaze. His eyes flickered from her doe eyes to her lips before leaning in to kiss her.

Expecting more of a protest, Florence chose not to question the lack of complaint at her demands. “Elijah,” she mused, glancing back at him over her shoulder. Flora didn’t bother hiding her gaze as she eyed him up and down, again making a show of nodding once, like she was taking in more and more information about him. “I appreciate your lack of whining about buying my coffee. You can maybe earn my name later. I enjoy having a flare of mystery.”
Elijah couldn’t help but give a small chuckle before giving the woman a nod. “I like the mystery,” he pointed out, before it was their turn in line. He ordered their drinks and paid before turning back to her. “Did you want to get a table or did we want to take these drinks to go and head somewhere else?” If he was going to earn her name he had to put in some effort to keep her attention.
eclvpses:
Narrowing her eyes, Flora nodded once, making a show of acting as astute as possible. His eye roll was just merely icing on the cake. “Noted,” she quipped, shuffling around him to cut ahead in line. “I hate conversation. I do like coffee, though. I’ll accept a caramel iced coffee. Large.“ Florence requested, batting her lashes in his direction to sweeten the deal.
Ellijah watched as she walked in front of him, kind of enjoying the way she told him what she wanted instead of asking for it. “Large caramel iced coffee it is,” he said, before pulling out his wallet. “I’m Elijah.”

“That’s exciting,” she says, even if her expression doesn’t reflect the same amount of enthusiasm it should’ve. “You don’t ever get tired of being in the same town all the time? Especially one this small.”
“I don’t really mind it. My family and friends are here,” Elijah said, with a small shrug. “I mean I travel a lot. My family is really big on trips to other countries, so it’s more like this is my comfortable home base,” he added, not wanting to out right say he’s loaded. “What made you want to move to a small town like this?”

It does feel better now, to not turn on the news to see Catherine’s face. She’d much rather be greeted by the cute, boyish weatherman instead. “I totally do,” she reveals, offering him an apology in the form of a sheepish smile. “Can’t you tell by my demeanor? I love the sun! When it’s bright and sunny I feel my best, so even when you say it’s cloudy I’m displeased,” Rosie overexaggerates with a grin, although she truly never has been a fan of the rain.
“You absolutely look like a sunny girl,” Elijah said, with a small laugh. He took a sip of his drink but didn’t waste a moment of taking in her face. She had a smile that you couldn’t help but smile back at. “We shouldn’t have any rain all week so you should plan out a beach day or something. Really soak in all that sunshine.”

“It’s good this won’t be lasting that long.” She mumbled, she didn’t plan on sticking for that long. Elijah didn’t clarify how long he expected her to stay which left her with a loophole. “I don’t know, there’s just something about your face that screams jock to me. You can’t win them all.” She motioned with her hands finally setting down the menu that she didn’t need to begin with. “Congratulations on your survival skills. Let’s keep our fingers crossed we don’t end up in a third one, nobody wants to keep testing their luck. Besides everyone gets real boring and sensitive.”
Elijah wasn’t sure what about him looked like a jock, but maybe it was just that anyone that Gabbie didn’t like just mushed together. “I would prefer not to have it be a trilogy,” he nodded, before taking a sip of his water. “You’re right, plus there’s not much to do when people never want to leave their house.”
gabbieperera:
“Yeah, because finding one thing we agree on is going to make this night better.” She shifts slightly in her seat, her expression reflecting her skepticism about this whole situation she put herself in. “Movies?” she puffed out her cheeks, letting the air out slowly. “Slasher. They’re dumb, but you don’t have to keep your eyes glued to the screen to know what’s happening. And it’s always fun to see the jock that thinks the world of himself cry like a baby when they finally get to him. I think you’ll fit that role.”
“I mean would finding something to talk about make the night worse?” Elijah asked, with a small shrug. He listened to her answer, mostly because he was glad that she was bothering to answer at all. “I don’t consider myself a jock and technically I’ve survived two slasher movies already so I feel like that should count for something,” he pointed out.

“Maybe I’ll get back into it someday. I worked out a deal with that gym owner, you know the one who looks kind of sad all the time?” Mei explained, though she probably would have to wait for a while anyway. Especially once she remembered that all that fighting experience hadn’t done much in the end. “Well… maybe not scars, but I read that when you get bruised, it’s totally possible for a dark spot to get left behind if you don’t treat it. Something about like… the way blood works?” she spoke, pouring some alcohol onto the pad before bringing it to his face with a grin. “You should be lucky you don’t have many cuts though, it won’t hurt as much to treat.”
Elijah knew which guy she was talking about, but never really bothered to learn his name. “I believe you, I guess I’m lucky to have a nurse,” he said, with a small laugh. This wasn’t exactly the first time he was punched in the face but he never really bothered to do any of this for it. He must have just gotten lucky. “How incredibly inappropriate would it be if I kissed you right now?”

“Would you buy the entire store?” Admittedly curious - although it would’ve never happened; maybe if the owner was anybody but Feyza. Eden loaded her toppings on - resisted the urge to overdo it, suddenly conscious of the awfully pretty man besides her. “What are your plans this evening?” She asked - more curiosity, peering up at him.
“If Feyza would even consider that I would write her a blank check,” Elijah said, meaning every word of it. She was so beautiful he loved to watch her do just about anything that made her look half as happy as those toppings made her. “I don’t actually have any plans yet, did you have something in mind?”

“Oh, please,” She let out a laugh despite the heat rising to her cheeks, “That’s so cheesy.” Eden would be lying if she said she hadn’t enjoyed it, though - it was unusual for her to not just get straight to the bed point. “Not if you’re buying my extra toppings - I’m a crushed walnuts and caramel drizzle kind of woman.”
“Prince charming is a little cheesy, but what can I do?” He asked, with a playful tone. She seamed to like it, which made it hard not to smile. “I will buy you whatever you want,” he admited, before walking into the line with her.

She grabbed the remote before she made herself comfortable on the couch while she went on the hunt for the movie. “And Ryan Reynolds,” she added, clicking play just as Elijah comes back. “I did warn it’ll be a romcom. We saw enough drama and horror already.”
“How could I forget about Deadpool,” Elijah said, with a small laugh as he brought the glasses over to her. He already had the pizza on the coffee table so it was time to relax. “I did tell you to pick whatever you wanted, I’m along for the ride,” he said, before taking a seat and placing his arm around her.

“Oh… well, here I am,” she adds with a laugh, raising her arms and giving Elijah a grin. Staying at work was the perfect way to keep her mind occupied in a healthy way, so it wasn’t very surprising to find her here. “I’ve been doing it since I was a kid, I have one of the fancy black belts and everything. I used to teach self-defense a while back too, I wonder if I’ll get to do it again,” Mei adds, taking his hand lightly and pulling them both towards the back. “If you don’t take care of your bruises properly, you’ll get scars, and then everyone will wonder why their favorite weatherman looks so scary,” she joked, pulling out a pad and some antiseptic.
Elijah enjoyed listen to her talk, she just have a soothing voice that he could listen to for hours. “This would be a great place for self defencse classes. I’m sure it would make a lot of people feel safer after everything that happened,” he said, not wanting to talk to much about what he is sure is a sore subject. “I actually didn’t know that bruises could leave scars, I thought that was reserved for open wounds,” he said, with a small laugh.

“Rosie,” she introduced herself, shaking his hand. She paused for a moment, thinking about where she’d seen him and tilting her head slightly. “You’re a weatherman, right? I don’t usually turn on the news, given… you know, but I’ve seen you on there a couple times.”
With everything that was going on previously. people were either glued to the news or avoid it all together so he understood what she meant. “Yeah, I am,” he said, with a light smile. “For a while I was the only one not giving bad news,” he said, before giving a small shrug, “Unless you hate rain, that is”
