It's not a Curse (A Hogwarts mystery fanfiction) pt2

This is part two of 'A night to remember'

Notes:This is another head canon and it is written from the point of MC, I hope you enjoy

Warning: A couple of swear words is all.

It was a crisp day and the sun was setting over the black lake. I was just staring at it twirling a rock in my hand, thinking, that time I spent with Penny yesterday really made me think.

"Oh there you are Joshua, I've been looking for you all over the castle" I didn't respond to her but just looked deep into her blue eyes.

"What's up? You were so happy last night, did I do something wrong?" She said in her usual caring tone sitting next to me.

"No, no it's not you, its just something I was thinking about" I said throwing the rock into the lake trying to skim it

"What were you thinking about?" She said smiling but still worried. "Spending that time with you yesterday really put things into perspective for me"

I paused for a moment before continuing "I put all my friends in danger and for what, a pipe dream?'

"But you found your brother, isn't that what you wanted?" I stood up and started throwing my hands around

"Of course it was, I finally found him and he just f*cked off leaving us in the underground vault with more questions than answers."

I turned around and punched a tree "You're scaring me now Joshua" she said standing up and backing away.

Once I saw her scared I immediately snapped out of my rage "I'm sorry penny, I didn't mean to scare you" I said grabbing her hands

I sat back down refusing to look at her "Maybe Merula was right, maybe I am cursed" Penny grabbed my head and made me look her in eyes.

"Of course you're not and don't you ever think that again" she said pulling me in for an embrace. "Thank you Penny, for being there for me"

"Now let's get you back to Hogwarts, people are worried sick." I'm fortunate to have a friend like Penny.

Once we have arrived back at Hogwarts Penny had to take care of something and she said she'd meet me in the great hall tommorow.

I couldn't be bothered studying and I didn't feel like pulling a prank with Tonks so I decided I use my time productively and help Madam Pomfrey with any injured students.

Once I finished helping around the hospital wing Madam Pomfrey thanked me for helping and I noticed the it was dark outside so I hurried back to my dormitory and dozed off rather quickly.

The next morning I was going to meet a certain someone to have breakfast and just chat really.

I arrived at the entrance and scanned the room not seeing the person I was supposed to meeting.

I then went to serve myself some food so that I can continue with my day. Before I sat down I scanned the room again, I saw some people I knew but not Penny.

"I seriously hope she didn't eat without me" I thought to myself, "I wonder where she is".

A small sweet voice interrupted my thoughts "You okay there Joshua?"

The voice was from a small Hufflepuff girl named Chiara who I've not spoken to a lot but I helped at the Hallowe'en feast, she had short silver hair and is hard to miss.

"Oh hello Chiara, you scared me, yeah everything's fine, just looking for someone, why you asking?"

"Well it's not every day you see someone standing there not really doing everything." She said laughing. Good thing most kids had gone home because that would be really awkward.

"I really do need to stop getting lost deep in thought" I said laughing.

"Well I was looking for Penny, we were supposed to be eating together but I can't find her. Have you seen her?"

She thought for a moment "Now that you say it, I haven't seen her either."

"Thanks for your help, well I guess I've got a task for the day. I'll get to looking."

The girl I was just talking to put her hand in front of me to stop me from leaving. "You haven't eaten anything, wouldn't want you to pass out now."

I decided to listen to her so I grabbed something small so I could finish it rather quickly and get started with my search for Penny.

"You know what, you're right Chiara, I'll eat something before my search starts."

She gave a cute smile, "Good, you need to take care of yourself before you can take care of your friends, let's sit and eat together."

After a few minutes of eating mixed with the cheery ambiance of the room, I began to lighten up and I had a small chat with Chiara.

One of the topics is why I decided to stay at Hogwarts, I lied and told her it was so i could study and help out Madam Pomfrey. Chiara wanted to be a healer in the future so that answer satisfied her.

We finished our meal and I was going to start my search for Penny when Chiara said "I'll help you." I would be happy with any help I could get as Hogwarts is a big place.

"We'll start our search with the Hufflepuff common." I thought this was a smart idea but I forgot about the rule of entering other houses common rooms.

I expressed my worry to Chiara but she reassured me "Don't worry there isn't as many people at Hogwarts due to the holidays but we should still be careful."

We had to sneak past some faculty but we made it to the Hufflepuff common room, they had a cute musical riddle what is much better than giving a password to a painting.

The interior was well... flowery but charming and cosy. The couches looked like a really comfy place to relax in front of the fireplace.

We had a search around but there was no sign of her anywhere, there was a small sound that sounded like a cough coming from one of the dormitories.

We went towards the sound and once we entered the seemingly empty room we saw the blonde still lay in bed surrounded by tissues.

"Penny, that you?" I said practically whispereing. She turned around still wrapped in her blanket, she looked like Sh*t and was clearly not doing well. Even in her state she tried to smile."why hello there Joshua, How did you get in here?"

"What happend?" I said stepping closer towards our usually presentable friend. Chiara was as worried as I was.

She looks extremely fatigued and her voice sounded extremely coarse, her nose was constantly runny. "That explains the tissues" I thought to myself.

"What happened?" asked Chiara stepping closer to Penny "I'm n-not su-sure I just w-woke up like this" she said before sneezing.

Chiara looked at me for an answer, and luckily I may of had an answer "One sec, let me check something"

I walked up to Penny and placed my hand on her head, it was hot, just like I expected. She was about to say something but I put my finger on her lips to shush her.

"You don't need to say anything, I'll fix you in no time." I then gave a neutering pack on the head. What the f*ck did I just do, luckily nobody seemed to question it.

The commotion gained the attention of other Hufflepuffs "What's happened to her." I was about to answer them when another Hufflepuff gasped and said "She's cursed isn't she, it's the vaults isn't it."

I understand why they were panicking as it was quite easy to jump to conclusions in a place like Hogwarts especially given recent events.

"No, no shes just got the flu, it's where you body aches all over and you feel tired and all you can do is rest, don't worry it's not fatal."

I looked towards Penny "Is that what you feel like Penny?" She didn't say anything but just nodded before laying back down.

I knew exactly what I need to do now, so i told Chiara to watch over her whilst I sorted out the proper medication, I told Chiara to keep her distance as to avoid catching it as well.

Time to brew to head back to hogsmeade I guess

A night to remember (Hogwarts mystery fanfiction) pt1

Sorry this is another story about penny but I find it easier to write stories about her. But anyway please enjoy.

Notes: This story is head canon so it will influence any future head canon stories. So changes in relationships will be permanent. This story is written in my MC's perspective unlike my other fanfictions. The story may also change to different perspectives of characters but it is written mostly in MC's point of view.

It was Christmas at Hogwarts and everyone was packing their bags to go back home to their loving family.

Except me of course, my parents hated me and I hated my parents. That's how it's always been, since Jacob went missing anyway. It always seemed they blamed me for him running away.

I was sat on the gryffindor table in the great hall with my head in my hands slightly drifting off "Wotcher Joshua!" I almost jumped out of my skin and Tonks was laughing at my expense

"Bloody hell Tonks you scared the life out of me" "That was the plan" she said sitting next to me "Why you not goin' home anyway"

I sat silent for a moment before replying in a sad tone "let's just say my relationship with my parents isn't exactly stable" Tonks face dropped and said "Oh sorry Joshua I didn't know"

I looked towards her with my head still resting on my hand "Its alright you didn't know"

After a bit of chatting she took off to go and prank Filch "Typical Tonks" I thought to myself watching her take off

I decided to burn some time by going to the library and studying some charms. After a couple of hours of studying I fell asleep with my head in my still open book.

Penny then came around the corner, potions book in hand intending to study and was surprised to see me there and she pondered for a minute "I should let him rest but the library isn't the best place to sleep"

She then lightly pressed me on the shoulder and I shot up and was about to lay into the person who disturbed me but once I was met with that wonderful smile and them deep blue eyes I immediately calmed down

"sorry to disturb you Joshua, but I can imagine its not the most comfortable here." "How can someone be so caring" I thought to myself before returning a smile

"Thank you Penny, What's that book you've got" "Oh this is just Advance Potion making , just brushing up on the basics" Of course Penny would call advance potions basic.

I then invited penny to hangout in hogsmeade "Of course Joshua, I would love to hangout with you, I always love spending time with you"

That comment made me blush a little and I turned to leave to hide it from Penny, I couldn't let her know I fancied her. There is no way she has the same feelings.

I was in my dormitory getting ready for my trip to hogsmeade, making sure I had the warmest coat and the comfiest scarf on before meeting with Penny

I paid for both of our tickets for the train to show off that gryffindor chivalry, there was a few other passengers on the Hogwarts Express also on their way to way to hogsmeade.

Once the train stopped and we stepped out onto the platform we were immediately hit with the realisation that we underestimated how cold it was.

We shrugged it off and made our way to the three broomsticks. Half way there I noticed Penny was shivering like mad

"You arlight Penny" I said in a concerned tone, it took her a bit but she replied "I'm just re... really co... cold, I Forg... got my scarf"

Without a second thought I took off my scarf and wrapped her up in it, after that I held her close "Thank you Joshua, You've always been there for me" as she rested her head on my shoulder

"And you know I always will" what the hell just spilled out of my mouth "I just ruined my relationship with Penny" I thought to myself.

We eventually made it to the three broomsticks and we were glad to be embraced by its warmth. We sat down and it there was just an awkward silence as we stared at each other

"What can I get you, my lovlies" asked Madam Rosemerta saving us from the awkwardness

"We'll have two butterbeers please" "No problem my dears I'll be back with your butterbeers soon"

After a couple rounds of butterbeers, the mood lightened up and we was almost always laughing. I was having the time of my life and I hope Penny was too.

Once we left the Pub, we realised that the sun had gone down. "How long was we in there for" I thought to myself, but it didn't matter we had a good time.

Halfway to Hogwarts I lost sight of Penny Then out of nowhere her voice came from behind me "Think fast Joshua" before a snowball hit me in the back of the head.

"Fancy a snowball fight, loser has to carry the winner the rest of the way back, my legs are killing me"

"That seems to only benefit you, Penny" She then replied in a mocking way "Wow I can't believe it, a gryffindor not brave enough for a fight"

"Arlight then, challenge accep-" I didn't get to finish my sentence before another snowball hit me in the face.

I wiped the snow out of my face laughing "I'm going to get you back Haywood" preparing my projectile.

I tried to hit her but she dodged them effortlessly and I received two to the chest as a result and then I managed to hit her in the stomach.

She winced in pain and I felt terrible but luckily she laughed before she hit me again and this caused me to fall over.

"Give up yet Joshua" she said standing over me "Nev-" I immediately got a snowball dropped on my face, of course it didn't hurt as it was only dropped at a small difference.

"Arlight, arlight I give up." She helped me stand up and we were still laughing. The butterbeer must of gave me a lot of confidence as I decided to give her a piggyback.

"What are you doing! I was only joking, you don't actually have to carry me back" "yeah I know but I want too"

After a while it was no longer awkward and we were laughing and joking. Every once and a while she tightened her grip as to not fall off, this was the closest we have ever been.

We then arrived at Hogwarts and I let her down "Thank you for today Joshua, you are not only Hogwarts hero but mine" she said in a jokey but flirty way

She then pecked me on the cheek and took off "Have a good sleep Joshua" waving as she went. I don't know if my face looked as red as I felt

I then turned into a ninja as I crept my way to the gryffindor common room trying to avoid the faculty I somehow managed to reach my dormitory unnoticed and I pretty much fell into bed. With a massive grin on my face I had the best sleep of my life

I don't blame you (A hogwarts mystery fanfiction)

Note:This is not headcanon and it is an alternate depiction of the story, I decided to write this story in the perspective of penny instead of MC as a change from the usual. I also wrote it in a way that you can insert you MC into the story, please enjoy .

It was a rather dreary day with the somber sunlight shining in through the hospital wing windows, I was watching over F/N as they rested, recovering from the failed attempt at entering the forbidden forest and searching for the cursed vaults with more of F/N's friends like Rowan and Ben.

I feel guilty for the condition that F/N is in due to the fact they were trying to protect me from a horrible beast in the forbidden forest. Friends and Professors alike have been telling me "not to feel responsible" but I cant feel nothing but tremendous guilt and I wanted to do nothing more than apologise to F/N.

Madam Pomfrey tells me that she is not quite sure how treat F/N as she is not sure what beast attacked them so it would be dangerous administering medications that may put F/N in even worse shape than they already are, hearing this greatly saddens me and tears start to roll down my cheeks.

I am too invested in watching over F/N that I lost track of time and I was going to be late to potions, I couldn't believe it, this would be one of the only times I was late for potions. I could already hear Snapes disappointed comments "I thought you had potential but you've just resigned yourself to failure" among other things.

I hurried to potions but once I opened the door to the dark classroom I was met by bewildered looks and comments "perfect penny late to a class, I can't believe it" followed by laughter. The worst of all was snape, if looks could kill I would already be on my way to the cemetery. During class I didn't successfully complete my potion because I couldn't concentrate at all and all I could think about was F/N.

Once class ended I sprinted to the hospital wing and was met with disappointment and sadness when I found F/N still in a comatose state. I would spend all the free time I had sat at their bedside. The guilt just kept getting worse and worse as I think that I was the reason F/N was like this.

A week later I was in the great hall with my head leaning on my fist when Rowan came in with amazing news, "Penny am I glad I found you F/N has woken up!" I don't think I have moved so fast in my life.

Once I arrived at the hospital wing i was met with the scene of F/N arguing with madam pomfrey about leaving and breaking the curse but Madam pomfrey retorted with "You are in no fit state to leave, drink your medicine and rest" in her stern but caring tone.

F/N tried to get out of bed and leave but as soon as they tried to stand they immediately collapsed because they were so weak, this made me really concerned so I rushed over to help them up but when I grabbed F/N to put them back in bed they winced in pain. I totally forgot about F/N's wounds so I tried to put them in bed as soon as possible.

F/N used whatever strength they had left and said "Thank you, Penny" and tried their best at a smile before passing out again. I sat by them and began bursting into tears because of that recent scene. I don't think I've ever seen F/N is such a vulnerable and weak position and it was all because of me.

The next day whilst I was sat beside F/N with their hand in my mine I felt their grip tighten and heard F/N mutter "Hello penny" using the little strength they had. I turned to them and F/N gave me a heart warming smile, I couldn't say anything but "I'm so sorry" bursting into tears again. In response to this they gave me a concerned look and pulled me in for an embrace saying "It's okay I don't blame you, I would rather it be me than you" I was surprised by this and gripped them tighter. F/N winced in pain again so I pulled away and I said "Oh my god, I'm so sorry" and they said "Don't worry it's fine I can deal with the pain" and pulled me in for an embrace again and I made sure to be more gentle this time. After a while of this they laid back down and went to sleep again, I gave F/N a kiss and went to sleep with my head on their chest.

Just a Facade (A Hogwarts Mystery fanfiction)

It was a warm day with a nice breeze and I was walking past the courtyard on my way to the great hall to grab dinner when F/N rushed past "Oh hey F/N how are y-" "Sorry penny can't talk right now". I stood there confused for a moment before I spotted something on the ground. I picked it up and realised it was F/N's diary and when I tried to hand it back to them they were gone. I decided to hold on to it "I'll give it to them later" I thought to myself and so I continued on my way.

Whilst I was eating my food I couldn't stop thinking about the diary "The mind boggles" I thought to myself before finishing eating and continuing on with my day. Whilst in potion class I finished brewing my antidote to common poisons what I found quite easy at that point. Bored I decided to have a look at the diary, it was old but well kept. "He trusts me, one read wouldn't hurt" I said quietly to myself before opening the diary. The first passage said

[U]'September 1st 1984'

"F/N must of bought this diary in diagon alley" I thought to myself before I started reading, This passage was filled with so much raw emotion and you could tell how excited they were to be going to hogwarts.

"I cant believe it I'm finally going to hogwarts, I have been waiting for this moment for all my life and its finally here." This made me smile as I could tell how giddy they must of been. I carried on reading "I also met a nice 1st year called Rowan and I later sat with them on the Hogwarts Express. Later in the great hall I was so happy that I got into the house I wanted and Rowan got in with me." That's where the passage ended.

"Miss Haywood" bellowed Snape "Class has been dismissed, get out" I grabbed my stuff and left not wanting to anger snape much more and tucked the diary into my pocket. I made my way to the library to read more of this fascinating literature. Once in the library I made my way to a secluded corner in order not to be disturbed and the next few entries were not very important and were quite small but the next big one was their duel with Merula, the first time I saw F/N.

[U]'February 16th 1985'

"I had just finished my duel with Merula when Professor Snape and Professor Flitwick arrived I immediately told them that Merula cast the first spell and Flitwick believed me but Snape told me to meet him later to receive my punishment. On my way there later, I met the most popular girl in my year. Let me just say this, her reputation does not proceed her, her eyes are as blue as the Aegean sea, she's absolutely beautiful" It made me blush reading this turning me as red as a tomato, good thing no one was around to see it.

Then out of nowhere Rowan came around the corner holding a stack of books "oh hey Penny, you should really read this book it's really intere- wait is that what I think it is" "I can explain Rowan, F/N dropped it, I was going give it back later" and to this they laughed "Don't worry F/N trusts you and so do I, just make sure to give it back later and don't tell anyone else, F/N doesn't want anyone else to know about it contents" I smiled "Thank you Rowan" and carried on reading.

It was suddenly really late so I went to my common room and went to sleep. The next day I went back to the library to read more. The next big entry I can only explain as being deeply upsetting, it was dated soon before we tried to break the ice vault and the page was filled pure emotion and F/N's always joyful mood was revealed as a facade.

[U]'June 12th 1985'

"Me, Penny and Bill are getting ready to break the ice vault and honestly... I'm scared, scared that I'll be the reason my friends get hurt. I already feel responsible for Rowan being injured and I don't know what I would do if anything would happen to Penny or Bill, I'd never forgive myself. I try to act normal and happy in front of my friends but it's only so I don't worry them. We cant stop because of me we need to save everyone else." I start to tear up over this as I never realised how much they suffer in order to help everyone else, I feel like a sh*t friend, they have always been there for me like the time with the forgetfulness potion but I have never been there for them.

After I read for a bit longer I went to the great hall to grab a bite to eat and maybe be able to read a bit more. After I finished eating I went to put my plate back and came back to find the diary missing, my face was immediately drained of its colour and I started to panic thinking to myself "Oh my god, I've failed F/N, they'll never speak to me again" before regaining my composure and asking a fourth year if he saw anyone take the diary and he said "Oh yeah, I saw a slytherin in your year take it. I'm pretty sure they were headed to the exit" "Okay thank you so much." I turned to see Merula going for the door, of course it was her.

I chased after her and once I caught up I yelled "Merula, give it back now" and she turned around laughing "What do you mean half-blood" not even trying to hide the truth. "Imagine how embarrassed L/N must be if their diary got shown to everyone not to mention they'll never forg-"

"Petrifocus totalus"

I froze her before she was able to finish speaking and grabbed the diary and took off. I went to the artefact room to try and get more peace whilst I read about their adventures in the third year involving the vault of fear, I am astonished at the amount of bravery it must of took to face their worst fear. I then took the diary to my common room and started to read it in my bed, The next one was labelled after we broke the spider vault.

[U]'May 28th 1986'

"We have just broken the third vault and I'm in the pain, but I cant let my friends know that, after all, I need to be strong for them and I cant stop in my quest to find my brother. I was injured in my duel with that acromantual, I don't think I was poisoned at first but as time goes on I start to feel more tired and weak. I'm going to meet with my friends now"

I remember that, when I went to meet with F/N I screamed at the top of my lungs after I saw them. They were already looking a bit woozy and I once I spotted that their once white t-shirt was now almost completely red and they collapsed in the middle of a corridor. Professor McGonagall telling everyone to clear off before picking up F/N and rushing them to the hospital wing. It turns out that F/N totally neglected getting medical help even though they were seriously injured. I started to cry again when I began to realise how much they suffer both mentally and physically in order to protect their friends.

The next day I invited F/N to speak with them, after a bit they showed up "Hello penny, you needed to speak to m- wait are you arlight" I ran into their arms "I'm so sorry, I am so, so sorry" and they replied in a joking but concerned manner "Don't be silly, you have nothing to be sorry about" "I found your diary after you dropped it, I fully intended to give it back" and they retorted with "is that all, I don't care that you read my diary, I wanted you to see it" "no, no it's not that, it's that I'm sorry that I've never been there for you and you've always been there for me" with tears streaming down my face they put some distance between us so they could look deep into my eyes "Of course you've been there for me, and don't ever think otherwise, I don't know where I would be if it wasn't for you. They pulled me in again for an embrace, I wanted to stay like that forever, I never wanted them to let go.
