After spending a whole semester working on this project it's finally done! This is a project I worked on as part of my Animation and Interactive Media course at RMIT University. The task was to make either an opening or ending sequence for an existing or non existing series or franchise.
Here is my opening credit sequence for Haruko Ichikawa's manga series "Houseki no Kuni" which I decided to translate to "Kingdom of Jewels".
I worked on this project alone which proved to be very difficult but it was a very fulfilling experience and I'm very proud of the result. :)

A quick animations test for the shapes in the hair. I’m trying to figure out how to move the shapes and how much more or less sparkle I need.

A render of Cinnabar, I might tweak a bit of her hair a bit more.

Animatic
My first rough animatic for the opening sequence. It still needs a few tweaks here and there but the overall mood is quite close.

Character designs
The characters will only be silhouettes so that attention is drawn towards their glowing hair instead.

Mood Boards
To suit the theme of the series, I looked at the stained glass and broken glass imagery to express how the characters are jewels that are beautiful but shatter quite easily.
