“I understand that this necklace is one of a kind. But that is quite a bit out of my price range. Is there any way I can get you to reconsider?”
“I’m sorry. But that is my final offer.” The shopkeeper stood firm on her price.
Nanami sat there quietly, pouting slightly as he contemplated his next move. He eyed his wife as she stared outside the windows, admiring the softness of her neck. The necklace would truly look beautiful decorated upon her satin skin. He can only imagine the joy on her face once he gifts her the piece of jewelry. Determined, Nanami spoke in a hushed voice, hoping not to alert his wife with his second round of negotiations with the shopkeeper. He knew that the shopkeeper wasn’t backing down, but he was also not willing to pay such an exorbitant price.
He made another offer to the shopkeeper. To his dismay, the shopkeeper remained resolute.
Unfortunately for him, the exchange piqued his wife’s interest as he saw her look in his direction. Y/N was curious as to why her dear husband was being so adamant on the price. She makes her way towards the counter to stand beside him. As much as she loved how he was doing his best to acquire the necklace for her, was this necklace so extraordinary that he needed to fight the shopkeeper on the price?
“The necklace is for my wife.” Nanami wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him. He felt her sweep her arm across his shoulder, playing with the hair on his nape lovingly. His wife smiled at the young shopkeeper as they made eye contact.
Y/N admired the necklace resting on the marble counter. It was beautiful. The design was simple and chic, she was impressed that her husband has such good taste in jewelry. The assortment of pastel hues caught her eye with the way the pinks, blues, and yellows created a harmonious color scheme. The necklace was wonderfully adorned by several charms, a sunflower in the center flanked by several small tigers on either side. The shopkeeper kept her hold on the necklace with her small hands, keeping the necklace close to her.
“Your wife is very beautiful, sir.” The shopkeeper squeaked with pride, grinning at the woman before her.
The woman in question, held back a laugh as she poked her husband.
“Kento.”
The blonde raised his head in his wife’s direction as he peeked at her. His glasses were slightly askew, resting on the bridge of his nose. “Yes, love?”
“You’re negotiating with a 3-year old.” She hummed, carding her hands through his golden locks.
“Yes, and she’s very good.” He turned his attention back at the little girl, giving her a small and loving smile.
“$10. That’s my final offer.” Nanami was dead set on winning this exchange.
Y/N watched as her daughter took careful consideration of the offer presented to her. The little one was fiddling around with the plastic jewelry in front of her, the charms and beads clinking softly against the marble surface. She found it incredibly adorable how her daughter pouted as she thought hard about her next move. Like father, like daughter. It was so cute.
As she suppressed her laugh, the little girl turned to Y/N and asked, “Mommy, what can I get with $10?”
“Hey now, no outside consultation allowed.” There was a playful frown on Nanami’s face, feeling betrayed that his own daughter would ask for back up.
“Hmmm. You can get a small toy with $10.” Y/N kissed Nanami’s temple as she grinned at how competitive her husband was becoming.
The younger Nanami looked at her father straight in the eyes and with an unwavering stance she chirped, “No deal.”
Nanami groaned and covered his face with his hands, Y/N laughing in the background at his impending defeat. In the corner of their eyes, they saw their daughter shifting in her seat. They both turned to the young girl in curiosity.
“I…” She began quietly, her gaze low, avoiding their eyes. She played with the necklace, her lips trembling slightly before she spoke again, “I don’t want $10. I just want daddy and I to play together.”
Nanami felt his heart squeeze from their daughter’s honest confession. He never would have guessed that her true desires was to just spend time with her beloved father.
“How about this,” Nanami walked around the marble counter to where his daughter was sitting. He picked her up and cradled her in his arms as he looked at her with all the love in the world, “I’ll read you three bedtime stories tonight and tomorrow, I’ll pretend to be your prince during play time. How does that sound, my little love?”
“Deal!” The little one beamed happily, nuzzling further into her father’s embrace. He rested his head on hers, taking her hand and placed soft kisses against her little fingers. His wife joined them, giving their daughter a small pinch to her cheeks.
“Just so you know,” he turned to his wife grinning as he rubbed soothing circles on his daughter’s back, “She got her stubbornness from you.”
— with love, @oomura

A heartfelt Eruri moment..
Inspired by Hans Adolf Bühler, Heimkehr (Homecoming), 1936 - (edit: i just used this as a reference i found on pinterest, obviously the painting has a drastically different meaning tied to the ideologies of ww2, as do many other paintings, and i hope it goes without saying that i don’t agree with any of them. art for art’s sake, i just appreciate the skill that went into this, not the painter or the painter’s political ideas. i will never get into politics on this blog, i’m just an artist who likes to draw everything my eye finds pleasing. please don’t think my art is ever deeper than that.)
