UPDATE i have found a few good pieces of literature on this topic - these i accessed through my university library but if anybody wants them i will try to get a pdf "Addiction and Feminism" by Claudia Bepko, 2013 Bepko looks at the issue from the standpoint of a clinician and the unique ways women and their families can be treated for addiction - the book is pretty broad and includes literature reviews. also covers treating lesbians and their families and practical cases. bepko says that "feminism is a beneficial force in addictions therapy as they have the same goals--mending imbalances of power." i haven't read it in full but it addresses how misogyny and violence can contribute to and worsen addiction and how to treat it as a therapist. "Revisioning Women and Drug Use" by Eliabeth Ettore, 2007 Ettore is a professor of sociology and looks more at drug use itself rather than treating it. Ettore has done a lot of writing on women and drug use outside of this also. she analyzes different substances differently and doesn't treat woman users as a monolith.
note these works aren't perfect and i've only skimmed both of them but i think they both have valuble things to say and could be a good starting point for further research into women and substance use and addiction. will add to this post in the future
random question but does anybody know any writing on radfeminism, women and substance abuse/alcoholism? or would anybody be interested in discussing it? i have read about how substance abuse in men affects women but nothing i can recall about substance abuse in women (except in relation to the porn industry.)

asking because i am curious to know how misogyny affects drug usage in women and how certain issues stemming from misogyny exacerbate it. like think the link between prostitution and drug usage and mother's little helper. there is a decent amount of literature on that i have found (will link if anybody's interested)
was thinking more radfem perspectives on drug use and alcoholism in women as the literature i have found has been largely from a not-feminist sociological standpoint

telling boys that misogyny exists is bad because they'll feel bad about themselves and then become nazis when they're 13 :/ when i was 10 a boy in my class lifted my skirt to make fun of me in front of my whole class and made sexual comments about my body nobody that age should be able to know lol. idgaf

just a reminder:
as an adult woman, you have a cultural impact. When you decide not to wear makeup, you help show little girls who see you that wearing makeup is not an inevitable task in their future. When you spend time with your girlfriend or wife publicly, you let little girls know that that is normal, too. All this is to say that your choices in society can let young women know that they also have those choices. I haven’t worn makeup in quite some time, and when I babysat little girls, many of them just thought that makeup was just something that “old girls” have to do, and were somewhat relieved to discover that they don’t have to in order to grow up and be a real girl.

yall ever notice how one of the first insults thrown at women is "barren" or something else indicating that they are childless/infertile or single. as if you're supposed to feel bad about that

the nick fuentes “your body my choice” crowd make it clearer than ever that abortion bans are primarily motivated by the desire to control women, rather than deeply held religious beliefs about the sanctity of life or whatever

the watering down of the 4b movement is deeply depressing for reasons many other women on here have said but like man it is so sad that the second you suggest the only way meaningful change happens is through a radical change that affects your personal life is met with people watering it down to the point that people say they care about the radical change but are unwilling to adapt to it is so so sad. it feel like if women en masse were more aware of the realities of misogyny they would be far more willing to actually take action. that's the whole idea behind women's class consciousness ig
