Melon Kohakutou by DamSoCafe.
This is a melon crystal candy from the shop I previously ordered a peach flower from. I remain absolutely blown away by the care taken with every step of this shop's process, down to the smallest details. The natural vegetable powders used to tint DamSo's sweets give such delicate coloring to the candy. The melon flavor is refreshing and very summery. A total sensory joy all around, with crisp crunchy layers. Small cloud-shaped samples of kohakutou and apple hard candies accompanied my purchase, making it extra lovely.

Peach Kohakutou by DamSoCafe.
Hi! As of today this is now also a blog about kohakutou, or crystal candy! This is a food both Erin and I can eat since it's gluten-free, which is most excellent. We love candy. Sometimes we say to each other that we'd like to eat particularly delicious-looking slime, so this feels like the natural space to provide kohakutou reviews.
My friend Ari said that the first piece of crystal candy I ever bought, shown above, looked like a fancy soap. They were extremely right. I loved the use of gold leaf and admired the delicate layers, carefully packaged and intact.
Happily, it did not taste like a fancy soap. It tasted like a rock candy on the outside and the most delightful blend between a gummy and gelatin on the inside. The flavor was a mild, juicy, and very natural tasting peach. I was so excited about this candy that I ate it way more quickly than I expected to: over the span of two days rather than a week. I had intended to try and save it like my childhood chocolate Easter bunnies. I forgot I always used to eat those pretty quickly too.
Would recommend energetically. I messaged the creator to tell her it was the best crystal candy I'd ever had. Technically true and an accurate measure of my joy.

The Upside Down by A Crafty Monkey.
This delightful chromatic slime evokes the universe of Stranger Things with its unearthly colorshifting and mix-ins which reminded me of the eerie ashes that seep out of the Upside Down. The scent of cola gummy candy is light and smells great -- it was a fun surprise since I had thought the slime would be scentless. This slime leaves my hands oh-so-faintly glittery but not sticky, which I find pleasant.

Turtle Cove by Dumpling Slime.
Upsides Mat by Just Messin'.
I got a silicone mat just in time to play with this slime, which unfortunately was delivered on a day with a real feel temp of 100°F. Turtle Cove was quite sticky upon first use even after I let it sit and cool.
It seemed like there was a disproportionately large amount of the clear slime as opposed to the beads at first. I perceived this because the slime is not as heavy as the large glass beads, which can take a bit of effort to remove from the bottom of the container. The clear slime was of a somewhat runny consistency at first play. I haven't added anything to alter texture so far, and I believe the colder storage temperature and my handing are improving matters.
Other minor gripes/comments: The clear slime whips up bigger and frothier than fits well in the container, which can make cleanup difficult and a little messy. I was a little disappointed that there was no scent.
Now, the upsides: this is one of the most beautiful slimes I have ever played with. The texture is unusual and enjoyable to handle, and its visual frothiness perfectly suits the ocean theme. The collision of different sizes of glass beads suspended in the slime produces a cold, pleasantly surprising crunchiness. The fimo bead slices look so cute and the turtle is adorable.
I would definitely recommend using a silicone surface protector or something similar with Turtle Cove. I didn't upon first play and had a lot more fun with it upon later use with the mat.

Pixel Dust by PeachyBbies.
I… have a love/hate relationship with this one. It’s delightful to squish. The sounds are AMAZING. The scent is nice and unobtrusive. There’s cute little silver stars in there. This is not a slime for delicate hands. It can be uncomfortable to constantly squish, but I’m a masochist and enjoy the pain, and the ASMR it gives outweighs my discomfort.
But it’s ungodly STICKY. When I first got it, my hands were literally stuck together and I had to get my stepchild to spray it until I could free myself. I kept at it, though. Maybe I just needed to mix the spray in more or cool it down or handle it faster, but no matter what I’ve done over the last several days, it still sticks to me.
Don’t get me wrong: it’s fun to play with and I don’t regret buying it at all. But I’ve gone through half a bottle of activator in the three or four times I’ve played with it. Pieces will break off and fall or cling to my hands, and I have to mix them in again. Overall, it’s been a frustrating experience.
Do I like it? Yes.
Would I recommend it? Probably not.

Space Cow by Dumpling Slime.
This one is an interesting concept: a clear, beautiful, lightly tinted lavender gel slime with a planet of white cloud creme slime in the center. The texture of this one feels so cooling and pleasant. The fruit punch scent smells good, but maybe doesn't match the theme perfectly-- I kept expecting to smell lavender or milk bath scents. All in all a really solid slime though. When the two slimes are fully incorporated, the little details of the star mix-ins from the purple gel slime appear so subtly in the white combined slime.

Twilight Dream by PeachyBbies!
A nice berry scent, enough to be enjoyed without being overpowering. There were celestial-themed add-ins that I, unfortunately, didn’t get good pictures of since the slime fell on its side during transit and everything kinda… gooped together by the time I opened it.
The bingsu slime is more comfortable to squish than anticipated and the sounds make for great ASMR. Highly recommend!

I put the ocean slime half away and played with the sand slime last night. It got really cute and fluffed up, I rolled it into dumplings.

As of right now the sand is starting to slowly settle again, so it's like ocean foam on top. So cool!

Pearl Diver by PeachyBbies.
Wonderfully scented with lovely ocean add-ins, this slime kit was fun to experience in stages. By itself, the clear blue ocean slime was really enjoyable to play with. Adding in the leaf, pearl, and seashell components made this slime so gorgeous. I had a bit of trepidation about adding in the sand slime, but it smoothly mixed in and was pleasant to watch as it became increasingly more combined. I kept a small portion of the blue ocean slime untainted by sand in the sand slime's original container and would buy the kit again just for the awesome ocean slime.

Updating to note that the sand settles once the two slimes are combined. Excited to come back to it tonight now that I know this and have stored it flat intentionally so the sand settles more evenly to the bottom.

Sunset Sugar by PeachyBbies.
Fruity, sizzly, and just a bit sticky. The beads of this bingsu slime dazzle the eye and melt together into a pretty pink. The pastel toys embedded within evoke bright little pieces of starlight in a sunset.

Honeycube Squish by PeachyBbies.
This joyful experience is the source of our blog's name, and one of the first slimes I got after Erin and I started talking about getting into slime this year. Though it claims to be for experienced slime users and I hadn't played with it since I got Silly Putty in my hair when I was 15 and now I'm 36, I immediately dove into this one. It smells absolutely beeswaxy and honeylike and therefore perfect to me. I was excited to find that you can tear the cubes to bits with your fingernails. It changes the texture of the slime in such an interesting way! And the little charms are so cute in it. Delightful.

Little Twin Star by DearSlime.
Contains star-shaped beads which give a soft, controlled crunch as they collide suspended in slime that makes pleasant scrunching noises. The slime itself is a lovely cool clear texture and the beads feel pleasant to play with. I got the cotton candy fragrance and it is sweet, light, and subtle.
