“It’s a question that I’m always reluctant to answer. I’ll tell you why because … When you do interviews with journalists that’s ALWAYS the question they ask. They always say ‘What’s the story with freaky fans that you have? What did they do? What scary things do they say?’ and I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: When it’s a sport and people are fans of a team, they go into the stadiums and they dress up in the colours and everybody accepts it as perfectly normal. But when people are fans of a TV show or a film, they’re somehow described as freaky or suspicious or that there’s something kind of odd about that and I see absolutely no difference in it. In fact, I think our ability to be able to play in adulthood which is something that we do … When children play we let them play and that’s part of life. And the further we go into adulthood, we move so far away from our ability to play and just have fantasy and do stuff that we really enjoy and do it with pride and with passion. So I’m reluctant to say that fans are strange or freaky or anything like that because … You know, from ANY of my experiences with all the people that I met today, on any Cons that I go to, I always meet fantastic people who allow themselves to be vulnerable and to be a little bit fucking weird.”

People can be mad about missing book elements in the Harry Potter movies, but the real crime is that they kept the same ugly green filter on every damn movie after Chamber of Secrets no matter what the tone of the scene was.

Emily VanCamp [about the marvel fans]: You really don’t want to disappoint…it’s not good when you disappoint.
I just really really want Emily to know that none of the hate she recieved was her fault. She deserved none of it. None of it came from legitimate criticism, it was all immature dumbasses who were personally offended by Sharon Carter’s existence.
She went through years of people bullying her after tws and cw (especially cw). People calling her a bad actress, people comparing her to Peggy and Natasha and saying she wasn’t pretty enough to be with Cap.
Some of her fellow actors even going as far as talking bad about her character (encouraging the hate) at cons and on twitter, and straight up say that Sharon carter didn’t deserve a larger role in the mcu.
In interviews, the only way a real question would be asked to her is if Rdj or Don redirected questions to her in group interviews. All the interviewers wanted to ask Emily about was stevesharon and how controversial it was which…really did not help.
certain shippers who (and i’m not joking) thought if Emily would kill herself then Sharon would be written off and their ship would be canon…(look at that, sharon got written off and it still wasn’t canon…it’s almost like it was never on the table)
The Body shaming, being called ugly, unworthy.
And the worst part? Just like with Brie Larson, when the hate parade was coming for her, not one of her cast members spoke up to defend her, or to say the harassment was too much, and needed to stop.
And Emily never said a single word of negativity in response. Even after being dropped. Never once did she offer anything but positivity and support.
And it just is NOT her fault that this all happened!!! She played a character that she loved! She read the comics (which is already more than most of these mcu actors or writers do) and really loved Sharon. You can just see it in the way she spoke about her in interviews. It just breaks me that she might think all of this happened because she “disappointed” people.
If you all start bullying her again when fatws comes out it’s gonna be on SIGHT..

Solace Part 2:Meeting: Rafael Barba x Author!Reader
Word Count: 1484
Warnings: None, Rafael being adorable. As before Hadley helped me with some major inspo for this story and I couldn’t thank her enough @miamorbarba
Summary: So, you’re at gala for a fundraiser, Rafael and his SVU detectives are at the same gala. They all recognize who you are, but the detectives aren’t quite sure why you’re there. Only you and Rafael know the real reason you arrived.
Olivia Benson and her team didn’t have the slightest clue on what type of person you were, except for your name and face littering the shelves every time you released a new novel. What they were trying to figure out now was why you were dancing and dazzling the dancefloor at the same fundraiser Rafael had invited them too.
The fundraiser, donors, and creators, were all deeply invested in helping victims of sexual assault re-adjust to living in the world, with a non-profit support team.
Rafael being the more vigilant one of the relationship watched as his co-workers and equals eyes’ glaze over your form and watch as you made the simplest entrance of the night. The elegance you walked in was feigned by you hold onto the bar, railings, and tables whenever you could. Only Rafael could tell, being the only one in the building who knew you tripped over air and up the stairs.
The alias of your books was so well thought nobody assumed it was a fake name, but Rafael knew yours. It was almost a game to him, both of you knowing so much about each other, yet acting like you didn’t have a clue in the slightest who the other was. For a moment your beau wondered if this was how you would react if the beautiful relationship you two had built crumbled? Would he be able to glance casually across the ballroom floor to see you smiling with another man and know for certain that you weren’t really investing your time into some snob from Upper Manhattan?
“Barba, isn’t that the hotshot author that Sonny’s sisters are always gawking to him about over the phone?” Finn casually glanced at Rafael before looking back at you.
“Yes, it is. That’s Anabelle Leigh,” Rafael was the only person aside from your family who knew this pen name had credit belonging to the poem ‘Annabelle Lee’ by Edgar Allen Poe, “she’s a brilliant author and most of her books center around relevant political and social issues. Well, this new series does, she also has fantasy books, sci-fi books, and even a couple books of poetry that most people don’t know about.” Rafael spoke, shaking the hand of a DA who had walked over with a smile plastered on her face. Wiping his hands on his coat afterwards, he looked up to see Amanda with a smirk on her face.
“You seem to be a pretty big fan of her,” Rollins sipped from her glass of champagne, “how many of her books have you read?”
Rafael shrugged as he downed the dregs of his scotch, “I’ve read every book that was a best seller. Right now, that’s six.”
Olivia turned to Rafael, still looking at the author who was on every bookshelf in the country right now, seemed out of place at a fundraiser like this, “Why is she here? I understand her books cross boundaries like sexual harassment and assault, but why is she here?”
“She donated 75% of her royalties from her last book to three different foundations and this was one of them. It’s been the most money this foundation has ever received. The best part? She didn’t even want credit for it.”
“Well,” Sonny started and Rafael could have sworn he noticed a slight blush covering the young man’s cheeks, “she looks absolutely fantastic tonight.”
Rafael barely stopped from choking on his breath, when he stood and motioned toward you across the room, “Would you guys like to meet her?”
“Yeah, I think that would be nice, wouldn’t ya’ll?” Amanda stood beside Rafael, Fin following her lead. Rafael started moving across the room towards you, trying not to gain momentum as he neared. It was almost as if you could feel Rafael behind you, as you politely ended your conversation and turned toward him and the team.
“Mr. Barba, how have you been tonight? I didn’t see you arrive.” A genuine smile fell across your face as Rafael stepped forward and you kissed each other’s cheeks, Rafael stepping back with your lips stained on his left cheek.
“Miss Leigh, I was just telling my colleagues about your donation to this foundation.” Rafael gestured to the team behind him as a blush rose to your cheeks.
“Please, call me Ana or Anabelle,” Turning away from Rafael, your smile brightened again, “you must be Olivia Benson.” Olivia took your extended hand and shook it firmly.
“Thank you for writing about subject such as this and making them less of a stigma in the public eye.” Olivia gave a smile before Sunny stepped forward.
“Your work is amazing. ‘The Broken Heart Sonnets in 4 Parts’ is my favorite poem by you, and my younger sisters are obsessed with your work.” He shook your hand that wasn’t holding on to the bar as your blush from earlier intensified.
“Um, thank you. I just write from the heart, I really wasn’t expecting to become a world-wide best seller. Thank you all for supporting me.” This was a virtue you had more work at than Rafael, you never hesitated in being humble.
You took compliments graciously without disregarding them, but always made them relate to the program, idea, or person that gave you the idea. Rafael always thought he would find someone just as boastful as him, instead you were as humble as his mother, the shyness when someone gave a compliment, the blush that followed after and when you ran your fingers through your hair. Rafael swore he had stars in his eyes staring at you.
Glancing down at the gold watch Rafael had bought for your birthday, your eyes widened. Rafael’s eyes flitted down to the leather one he adorned on his wrists as he noticed the time. It was 9:30, and because you were you, Rafael knew you didn’t eat anything but a few hors d’oeuvres floating around. Rafael also knew you had already ordered your post-mates, adding on top of everything, Rafael also knew it was bad etiquette to leave this early at an event like, you however, didn’t care.
“I am so sorry to leave like this, but I have a deadline, and I really need to pop out of here,” A tight lipped smile formed on your face as you shifted your weight between your feet, already reaching down to slip off your heels before you had even made an exit. The height drop made you shorter than everyone surrounding you, even your beloved boyfriend, “it really was a pleasure to meet you all, and I hope we can meet again in the future.”
Walking from the team and hurrying out the side door, you pulled your phone out and sent a text to Rafael. -I ordered burgers and concretes from Shake Shack. I’ll have the food and wine ready by 9:45, I expect you home no later than 10:15-
Rafael knew it was a 15 min drive from where he was to your shared apartment. Looking up from his phone to the team, he rolled his eyes when Liv pointedly glanced at his cellphone.
“More work Rafael? You’ve been in the office more than usual. I know this case is bothering you-”
“Olivia, I’m staying until 10:00. Then I’m going to go home avoid him,” Rafael directed their attention to his boss leaving the building, “while I climb the stairs to my apartment that is directly across from his and avoid everyone until Monday morning.”
“Sounds like a good plan, but Sunny looks like he’s going to pass out at our table, I think now might be a good time for all of us to make an exit before the people here notice detectives asleep at an event as important as this.” Olivia picked up her coat, noticing the rain that had started falling, pulling the fabric tight against her body as she pictured the November air along with the partnered rain.
Finn smacked Sunny on the back of the head before hoisting the young detective out of his seat, Amanda following Olivia’s lead as she helped escort Sunny out, stopping to wave and smile at Rafael.
-The next time she smiles at you, I’m going to make her my new antagonist in the book-
Rafael rolled his eyes at his phone before sneaking out the same side door you used. Heading further into Upper Manhattan, he couldn’t wait for this case to complete, so he could really introduce you to the team.

Solace Part 1: Cologne: Rafael Barba x Author!Reader
Word Count: 611
Warnings: none, Rafael being a boss ass bitch
Summary: Can’t give away too much, but Rafael Barba has found someone who he hasn’t run off with his abrasiveness, someone he clicks with, someone who is a 4 time New York Times best selling author.
P.S. this little series of stories I have for this is partly dedicated to @miamorbarba
for her awesomeness!
“Do you love him?”
“What?” glancing down at your office phone, you could feel the gradual heat rising to your cheeks, “why would you even-”
“Because it’s been five months and you’re already moving in with him.”
“I…” A sigh escaped your lips before they fell in a miniscule pout. You and your big hot-shot lawyer of a boyfriend had been dating for five months. You and Rafael hadn’t said those three words to each other, and honestly, you were in no rush to, “I like the way he smells. The cologne he wears always makes me feel warm when I’m with him.”
“Yeah,” a brief chuckle followed, “okay…” the drawn out word somehow irked your nerves more than you thought possible. It wasn’t that you didn’t feel something for the grump of a man you had spent the last months with, you just didn’t like insinuation and inquisitions about your love life, even from your publicist.
“Listen, you’re my publicist,”
“Not your therapist. (Y/N), I know, but we’ve been friends for-”
“18 years,” shutting down your desktop, you waiting for the screen to turn black before leaning back in your chair, propping your too cramped legs up on the desk.
“So that means he’s how old? If we’ve been friends for 18 years-”
“I don’t wanna hear about the age difference…again.”
“(Y/N), obviously if people continuously bring up the age difference-”
“Ashley, obviously people need to mind their own business.”
“Okay,” you could almost see her hands brought up in defeat before they clicked back down on her oak desk, “you have to go to sleep now. You’ve been up since 6:00 in the morning working and helping the movers, and now it’s-”
“2:00 in the morning,”
“You know, if Rafael were there,”
“IF Rafael were here what could he possibly do? Hang up on you and tell me I work too much?”
Long masculine fingers reached over your shoulder before placing themselves on the phone, “Have a good night Mrs. Williams,” Rafael’s voice was tired, but he tried to mask it with gruffness, “Cariño, why have you been up since 6 in the morning?”
“I can’t sleep after you leave for the office. I usually toss and turn for an hour before pulling myself out of bed. Also, if in any case you missed how the only furbished rooms in my apartment are now my office and bedroom, I think you know how much work I had today.” You could feel Rafael leaning against the back of your desk chair, one hand moving to comb through your hair, “how long were you listening to us talk?”
“Long enough to know you should be asleep by now.” Rafael pulled you up from your chair, pulling you into his chest, “are you afraid of moving in with me?”
“No, I’m just more exhausted from moving than excited right now.”
“I can tell,” Rafael pointedly looked at the empty Starbucks cups and countless empty cans that once held energy drinks that littered your desk, “come on,” Rafael pulled your sluggish body through the hallways and into your bedroom.
30 minutes later the only sound that promised Rafael you weren’t in a coma were the snores falling from your lips. As you rolled over, snuggling closer to him, your face buried in his chest, Rafael knew he was never changing his cologne again.

Solace Part 3: Interogattion: Rafael Barba x Author!Reader
Warnings: Rafael being a boss ass bitch, like a couple cuss-words? The f-bomb maybe? I don’t really remember. Honestly I write the warnings before I write the actual story. Maybe a little bit of angst if you squint.
Summary: This wasn’t how you were expecting to spend your day after yoga. Instead of sitting in a coffee shop online shopping, you were sitting in an interrogation cell for 5 hours until Rafael dropped in from visiting his mother. @miamorbarba might love this chapter
Walking out of your local yoga studio that wasn’t ravished with hipsters, or hot moms, you didn’t expect to be picked up by Rafael’s SVU team. The winter air nipped at your bare shoulders as Fin and Sonny stood questioning you, a coffee shaking in the younger officers hand.
“Maybe we should take this to the station, clear things up a bit, and it won’t be so cold there,” Fin placed his hand lightly on your shoulder and you were complacent enough to follow him to the back of the squad car, noticing how Sonny’s left hand hovered around his pistol.
** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** **
“I’m not going to talk without my lawyer present, and he won’t be back for a couple of hours. He’s out of town right now,” Folding your arms across your chest and leaning back in the metal chair, you were thankful Rollins had brought you a sweater, a shiver still running down your spine from the temperature of the slate grey room.
“Darling that sucks for you, I can do this all day, I grew up in Staten Island, I have superb perseverance and I don’t give up too easily,”
“That’s fantastic,” you leaned forward and placed your cuffed hands on the table, “But once you’ve survived what I have, you don’t know the definition of perseverance,” leaning back, Sonny glared at you before Fin walked in, patting him on the shoulder.“Can you tell us where you were last night?”
“I was at my apartment, watching Christmas movies on Hallmark and pigging out on Chinese food,” once you’d seen the two detectives raise their eyebrows you shrugged and bit your lip, “yesterday was my cheat day. I tend to go a little wild on my cheat days, that’s why I went through three rounds of yoga today and two rounds of pilates,” you cracked your neck and stared straight ahead.
“Your apartment security system says that no one has entered in the past month,”
“Yeah? And?”
Sonny looked at you and sighed, “You just said you were at your apartment watching Christmas movies,”
“Well, it’s not my apartment, it’s my boyfriend’s. I always keep an apartment in my name in case anything happens between my boyfriend and I or if anything ever happens to the apartment or apartment building,”
“You really need to clarify these things, they count on your statement,” Sonny glanced over at you and your cheeks turned a bright pink.
“Can I ask what you guys are charging me with? I really still don’t know why I’m here?”
“We think you’re linked to a series of murders that have been happening to wealthy socialites in the Upper West Side,” Fin looked up from the folder in his hands, casually glancing over to read your facial expression.
“Wait what? What makes you think that?!” All color drained from your face and you had to push the urge to vomit down. Murder? They honestly couldn’t think that you were capable of that kind of crime. Stabbing someone for taking your food? Yes. Hitting Rafael for putting himself in danger? Hell yeah. But murder? That was impossible.
“We have photos of you ar galas with everyone who was murdered, just hours before they were found. We can only assume you were the last person with them,” Fin laid photos out of the crime scenes out in front of you.
You were searching the faces of the victims, all of them bringing back what were now melancholy memories. Your hand scanned over a well-built young woman the same age as you, hair tied back, dressed in an elegant emerald gown.
“There’s no way I could have done this. Not now, not ever.” Your hand was placed over the woman in the emerald dress, “I could have never brought myself to hurt another human, especially Noah,”
“You know this woman?” Sonny looked at you skeptically, knowing you were an author, he always assumed you surrounded yourself with these people at parties to promote yourself and your works.
“Yeah, Noah and I met in high school, but we didn’t become close until college. She wanted Wall-Street, and I wanted a quiet life. To settle down after a bit well-off, not having to worry about constantly being beat out by co-workers or prove that I was still better than everyone,”
You smiled and shrugged at them, “we moved to New York together, found apartments a couple blocks from each other and proceeded on with our lives. Coffee on Monday, Pilates on Tuesday, Book Club on Wednesday, Yoga on Thursday, and Bars on Friday.” Moving uncomfortably in your chair, you wanted out of the room that seemed to get smaller by the second.
“So, you’re admitting you knew one of the victim’s routines,” Fin looked from Sonny toward you and folded his hand on the table.
“I refuse to say anything further until my attorney has arrived,”
** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** **
Rafael turned from his mother’s house with dishes stacked in his hands, knowing how happy you were going to be tonight with some of his mami’s homemade cooking, his bliss and daydreaming were soon interrupted by his cellphone ringing. It was Olivia. “Hello?”
“We’ve caught a suspect. I know you’re at your mother’s but it’s urgent. They aren’t speaking anymore and maybe you could ease them into some sort of deal.”
“I’m on my way, get all detectives out of the room until I arrive, it might help sweat the suspect out.” Rafael pulled away from his mother’s house and hung up his cellphone, trying to get to the team as soon as possible, while staying within the boundaries of the law.
Arriving in the bullpen, Carmen was waiting with a cup of coffee, Olivia must have notified her and everyone was preparing themselves for Rafael’s own form of interrogation, “What has been said and what do we know?”
“We know that she was last seen with the victims hours before they were found.” Olivia started.
“She also knew one of the victims by name and had a personal routine with them, making them a perfect target,” Fin stood and paced around his desk a bit.
“She said she was at her apartment last night, but after we mentioned security, she quickly changed her story to her boyfriend’s apartment,” Sonny had to lightly jog to keep up with Rafael as he made he way toward the interrogation room.
Staring through the window, Rafael saw you pacing back and forth, biting on your thumb nail, and chest heaving, he willed you to calm down so he could sort this all out, knowing how any innocent person would be stuck in an interrogation room.
“She said she was at her boyfriend’s? She’s clearly innocent. Let her go,” Rafael turned away from the window and waved his hand in the air.
“Rafael you can’t do that, she doesn’t have a lawyer and she doesn’t have an alibi for her story. Sonny protested with Rollins nodding her head along, crossing her arms over her shoulders.
Rafael pinched the bridge of his nose, he knew one day the team would know the intense relationship between you two, he just didn’t want it to be like this, “She’s not acting like a guilty person.”
“And she’s not actin’ quite innocent either Barba!” Rollins raised her voice, her hand dramatically falling from the air slapping her thigh, which pioneered everyone else to start bickering to Rafael.
“Oh Dios Mío, dejarás de pelear! Her lawyer is standing right in front of you! She’s innocent because her boyfriend’s apartment is my apartment! I’m her alibi!” Rafael slightly raised his voice, tugging at the pink and grey striped tie he wore.
“Wait, that’s your girlfriend?” Sonny stopped mid-step away from everyone and pivoted on his heel.
“Barba has a girlfriend? I didn’t know you could get them tiger!” Fin went to slap him on the back before stopping and stepping away, “We better go get our big lawyer man’s girl outta shiny bracelets then.”
** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** **
Sitting down to dinner that night, Rafael had opted for the couch instead of the dining room table, moving his leg so you could sit, you placed a kiss on his cheek before taking your place on his lap.
“What did my big bad ADA tell the SVU detectives?” Leaning down to munch on the delicious food Lucia had made earlier that day.
“
Only that I was your alibi. Now Olivia wants us to come over for dinner,” before you could open your mouth Rafael continued, “it’s not going to happen. I’m not ready to share you yet.”
The movie Rafael missed last night played in the background as you stared at him in amazement, moving further into his chest than seemed possible. This was definitely not how you planned your day to go.
