This reminds me of what a friend of mine experienced while working in a call center. Note he is from South America. Everyone he worked with had English as a second language. Many companies outsource customer service callers to developing countries. Most of the time the customers who called were always rude to the customer service employees, but they weren't to him. He wasn't sure why. He wasn't better at his job than the others. He wondered if was because of his name because he has a very stereotypical white person name rather than a stereotypical Spanish name. So he told his coworker who was having a difficult time to change his name from “Juan” to “Jason” when talking to the customers. After that change the customers immediately started treating Juan better. While this isn’t sexism, it does show the intersectionality of race and how that will effect how people will treat you.

I just find it quite interesting how America and Japan parallel each other in how they were both raised by powerful nations (England and China), only to betray/leave them to pursue their own goals.
