Oh yes, I'm Norman's lovely wife. And Ruby's momma. ... And I think I have other children as well-- but that's another story. You may also call me Caroline, if you'd like. [ Personal: kriui.tumblr ]

They were telling her to relax.
Relaxing was the last thing she wanted to do now. How can she relax when her husband and son had apparent injuries on their persons? When there's still a dinner to be made? When she finally has guests over after how long!? Not to mention how the both of them were handling the situation... she wanted to pull their ears. Caroline threw her hands up in the air, shrugging Ruby's hand off her shoulder before he could even set her back down on the couch.
"Well, seeing that I'm probably the only one without any scratches-- and a limp. Don't you think it's more logical that I should be preparing dinner, sweetie?" she forced a smile onto her face, "You and your father should rest up. Considering that you two have gone through an intense battle with each other. Cheren and I will take care of the rest."
She then put her hands on Ruby's shoulder, sitting him down on the couch beside his father. There was a unreadable look in her eyes which meant that you shouldn't dare try to persist anymore. A mother's word was law, after all. Huffing her chest a bit, she turned to Cheren with a soft smile. "Cheren, my dear, you're looking... better than the others~" Her demeanor did a complete one-eighty in a matter of seconds! "You know what, let us have a nice chat while we make dinner. How does that sound?"
Taking the poor boy by the wrist, she whisked him away to the kitchen. Wanting to get away from her two boys for a bit.
“I’m fi—!!” His face contorted as his mother dragged him across the room, Lina flying from his hands. He barely fit in a ‘be gentle’ before she flew into a scolding fury at him and his father. Eyes looking off to the side and shoulders shrugged sheepishly as be bit his tongue as he allowed her to scan his face and digest her disappointment. “I didn’t mean for it to get this far Mom, honestly. But it really does look worse than it is! I’m absolutely fine, just a few scrapes and bruises— just like the old days, huh?” He snickered mischievously.
“It wasn’t as if things got out of control!” He tried to explain, eyes shameless. “We’re here in one piece. What matters is that we’re together, right?” He threw in the last sentence with an ear to ear, borderline cocky grin. Upsetting his mother wasn’t the way he wanted to greet her after several months, but it was probably unavoidable.
“In any case, Dad’s right— you two, why don’t the both of you sit down and unwind, Cheren and I will take care of the kitchen.” He took both his parents by the shoulders and tried to sit them back down on the couch. Eager to get both of his parents into a good — and easier to deal with — mood, he called out behind him, “isn’t that right, Cheren?”

The sound of the motorcycle made Caroline raise a brow. Now, motorcycles were no stranger to her-- she did live in Goldenrod after all. But hearing the sound of the engine of one in Littleroot came off a bit of a surprise. Even Lina's ears twitched at the sound. Before Caroline could even get off from the couch; the door opened and the boys flooded into the house.
A smile would've appeared if she hadn't took notice of the bandages, bruises, and scratches that were presented on both her husband and son's faces. (She was sure there were more being concealed by their clothing.) A look of worry had stricken Caroline's face. "What happened to the both of you!?" she practically screeched, "Did you two get into another fight again? Ruby look at yoooou!" It was frightening on how Caroline moved so fast when it came to her children. She was up on her feet and grabbing the sides of Ruby's face. Turning his head from side to side, taking a closer look how much damage her precious boy had taken. "Does it hurt? Of course it hurts! You wouldn't have a bandage wrapped around your head if it didn't!"
With Ruby's head still in her hands, she dragged him to where Norman was. Not caring if Ruby had a slight limp-- wait, he was limping! Oh, that was it. Caroline had a hard look in her eyes when she turned her attention to her husband. She released Ruby from her motherly grasp and planted her hands on her hips. "And you! Have you looked at yourself, too? Your clothes are a mess and your face..." she clicked her tongue, "Honestly, you two."
Oddly enough, Caroline didn't mind if Cheren was present in the room. He was bound to see this kind of scene.
The appeals of owning a motorcycle never quite struck Ruby, until instances such as these came along.
And boy, did he revel in it.
Ruby guided the motorcycle to a skidding stop, leaving a trail behind them as they paused parallel with the house. Not bad, for not having practiced for quite some time. He hopped off the bike, removing his helmet with a flourish of his head. Helmet hair was not on the agenda today.
“Oh, come off it. The speed limit is essentially redundant with such little traffic, especially in this area!” The ‘traffic’ in the surrounding area was so scarce that a car was uncommon, and a motorcycle was nothing short of a rarity. It is fairly rural, to say the least. Though, speeding straight through Odale was, admittedly, a little much. “Please, I’m an excellent driver, and you know it. I was perfectly in control the entire time, speed and otherwise. If I knew you were going to gripe this much, I would have sped off the ledges with much more vigor,” Ruby winked, slipping in through the door before Cheren.
“Evening, Mom!” Hesitating between greeting his mother or stopping in the kitchen to drop off his half of the groceries, Ruby took a step towards the living room, before quickly scurrying off to the kitchen instead to deposit the contents of his bag instead. Groceries aside, he pulled out a finely wrapped package and set it aside.
… Well, he might as well leave the troublesome part to Cheren. Leaving the last of the groceries on the counter, Ruby jogged towards the living room, carefully approaching the couch where his mother rested. “Lina!” He caught the excited Emolga in surprise as it leaped for him. He gave the mischievous pokemon a kiss on the head, before looming over the couch, preparing himself for an earful at the sight of his injuries and… well, failure to keep in contact with his mother. “… Hey, Mom. You look well.”

One step back was all she needed. Caroline propped her knuckles underneath her chin and just simply stared. Her house was spic and span. Not a single piece of furniture was out of place. Every surface had been mopped, dusted, or polished and was left sparkling.
If only she had more time to admire her work.
The sound of pots and pans clattering onto the floor reached her ears. It only meant one thing-- Lina had managed to open the cabinet doors again. She shook her head as she headed back into the kitchen. Maybe she should ask Norman to buy child-proof locks for the kitchen. If this keeps up, there would be dents on her wok.
"Lina! Have you've been a bad girl again?" Caroline knelt down to the ground and plucked off the emogla off the floor. Setting her onto her shoulder and poking her cheek. "Didn't I tell you to keep away from the kitchen?" Her tone was stern but it was still soft. No matter how much she tried, she couldn't get upset at Lina. Having already getting used to rowdy behavior from previous experiences.
The emogla grinned at Caroline. It was a mystery if the pokemon understood her sometimes. Making toppling the kitchenware over wasn't a practicing good behavior. "Maybe I should be strict with you..." she mumbled as she picked up a pan, placing it back into the cupboard.
Once finished cleaning up after Lina, she walked into the living room. Setting herself and Lina down on the couch. Taking a break wouldn't be a problem. The ingredients for dinner have been prepped and all she needed was the vegetables. How long has it been that she was able to cook for Ruby?
You could say that Caroline was excited. Any mother would if any of her children were visiting. It was a time where she could make their favorite comfort foods, pull out the old albums and home videos, and drown them in affection. Speaking of good family vibes, it has been quite some time since Norman's call.
"I hope those three waltz through the door soon."

Oh no, no! I can't relax when there's so much food to prepare. Er, well, I have a feeling that Ruby will be wanting a lot of his favorites cooked tonight.
... I can relax once I satisfy the boy's cravings.
Alright dear. I’ll pick up some vegetables and tea. Once we’re all back, please sit down and relax. You deserve it.

slaking-kong replied: Just in case, we better prepare for Cheren as well. Do you want me to pick up anything at the store, dear?
C-Cheren too? (Ahh, alright, you can do this Caroline. It's not like this has happened before.) Hm, well, I did have plans on having a Hot Pot dinner... do you think you and Ruby can get some vegetables for me? And maybe some tea, as well?
I need time to clean up the mess Lina has made again. She'll probably be happy to see Ruby.

In case he didn't tell you (and I wouldn't be surprised if he forgot), Ruby's in town.
Ah--
... What? Really? He's in Hoenn! Did he come by himself? Did he have to get dragged by the ear by Cheren? Oh my, the house isn't really presentable right now. I--
[ A frown appeared on her face. ] Huh, he could have at least given me or warning. I'm more surprised that Cheren didn't give me a heads up either. Well, regardless, I'll have to prepare when the two of you come home.

My children and husband have been quiet lately. Maybe I should force them into doing something together or... perhaps they're too busy to make time for me?

It's been a bit quiet around the house lately. Even with a new member scampering around~ Maybe Max is all tuckered out from his trip. At least Norman will be visiting later this evening like he always does during the weekends.

Happy Mother's Day to the most beautiful and caring mother in the world [kisses Caroline's cheek and hugs her from behind] I do have something for you if you'd like.
W-what! You really didn't have to get me anything! You've already given me everything, dear. Now you're just spoiling me--
I am curious, though.

[An Emolga with a ribboned collar taps on your window! It excitedly bounces around--how curious! It bears a note, penned in a familiar hand. It reads: "Happy Mother's day, Mom. P.S., her name is Lina."]
O-Oh! What a curious looking little thing! [ She opened the window and the Emolga jumped into her arms. Waving the note in front of her face. Caroline gently toke the note from her hand and read it. A soft smile formed on her face when she had finished. Setting the note down, she peered over to the pokemon. ]
Well, this is certainly was a lovely surprise! You're going to like it here in Hoenn, Lina. It may be a little more warmer but... it's home. [ Lina blinked up at the mother and nodded. Her eyes were glimmering with excitement. ] Okay, let's go and see the rest of your new family-- shall we?
