Temper, Temper -- Part 2

Have you ever stopped to think about why we get angry? What’s at the root of our basic temper tantrum? It’s easiest to discern the heart of the matter with children. They pitch a fit when they want something and we tell them “no”. They set up a howl when it’s time to go home, because they’d rather continue having fun. They use angry words when they want their own way. Selfishness is at the root of their targeted tirades. 

Are we so different? We get angry when we are inconvenienced. We get upset when we are disappointed, frustrated, and impatient. We lose our temper when people disobey us (when we don’t get our way). Some of use get into the habit of anger because we’ve learned it’s the fastest way to get what we want. We’ve learned it’s a handy tool, because many people will relent, just to appease us. We’re still losing our temper for entirely selfish reasons, even though we’re adults. 

5. Okay. That’s all pretty clear. Losing our temper is a bad thing, and we should not let our anger control us. Any advice on how that is done? Take a look at these three verses-what word is used for dealing with anger in each?

●Psalm 37:8 

“Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret-it only causes harm.”

●Ephesians 4:31

“Let all the bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.”

●Colossians 3:8

“But now you yourself are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.”

6. So does this means that we can never be angry-that all anger is a sin? Well, no. Let’s look at what Psalm 4:4 says:

“Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still.”

7. It’s impossible to say, “I will never be angry again.” We need to set a realistic goal for ourselves. In Nehemiah 9:17, one of God’s character traits is being “slow to anger”. That’s the ticket! Proverbs 16:32 considers this praiseworthy:

“He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.”

I love creating things! Lately, God has set a fire in me to create my own devotionals from the daily scripture I read. Hope this gives you encouragement!

Dump cake is super cheap but oh so delicious!!! Heat your oven on 350 degrees. Mix half a can of crushed pineapple and any fruit filling you want in a bowl. I chose apple filling this time. Sprinkle light brown sugar on top. Pour into 9x9 pan. Pour and spread yellow cake mix on top of fruit filling. Pour melted butter evenly on top of cake mix. Cook 40 min. Let it cool off for 5 minutes. Serve over vanilla bean ice cream.

1 box of yellow cake mix

1 can of fruit filling

1/2 can of crushed pineapple

1 stick of butter

2 tsp of light brown sugar

Organizing your kitchen can be super cheap. The Dollar Tree has so much you can use. I like a lot of beautiful colors to be in my kitchen. It is the happiest place in your home! These easy to hang wall hangers are the best. You can hang mugs, measuring cups, and cooking utensils. This will give you more space in your cabinets and drawers.

Dollar Tree is where it’s at. There is nothing more exciting for me than spending 20$ there and coming home to make beautiful decor with it. My home has a lot of artificial plants. I think it adds a laid back feel to any living space. This project was super simple and the kids loved helping me. All you need is one bag of rocks, one glass globe of any size, and a few succulent plants. All of this you can buy for less than 5$ at The Dollar Tree. Hope you enjoy these in your home as much as I do!

Creating a cozy living space isn’t hard. Turn an old mattress and box spring into your dream couch. Cover the bed with a beautiful king quilt. I bought ours at https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Natural-Stripe-Quilt/245949550. I would recommend staying with a sold color or a simple design. We had several things in our storage that I used. I added white Christmas lights to our artificial tree to create a peaceful environment. You can NEVER go wrong with furry throws, lots of rugs, and big pillows.
