Hello. I'm Doctor Theodore Moreau. I'm a historian and a professor at Columbia University. I love history and the dead and the dead appear to love me. At least they enjoy the occasional conversation. Perhaps that makes me strange, I like to think it makes me good at my job. ((OC RP Blog. Tracked tag: historyanddeadpeople ))

“That was a lot of dumb luck,” she laughed. “And a lot of determination to have what I wanted.” Jo leaned in close, nestling her head against him. “I was crafty by necessity only not out of any actual skill,” she chuckled.
“Still means you were crafty.” Teddy laughed as well now. “For all I know, you could think pranking me is a necessity. Maybe you want to try to bring me down a notch, put me in my place by embarrassing me in front of my class, I don’t know.”

“A bunny?” Teddy asked, pretending to be confused. “I don’t think I would ever compare you to a bunny. I just don’t see it.” He fought back his smile, but it didn’t last long. Soon he was laughing as he brought her hand up to his lips for a quick kiss. “I disagree. I’ve seen how crafty you can be first hand. How many times did we sneak around in my office?”

Jo’s eyes grew wider as she listened to his tale. She held in her reaction until he reached the very end. It started as a muted snicker that rolled into a full blow case of the giggles. “That’s amazing!” She beamed up at him, still giggling between statements. “I can’t believe… That had to be quite the day for all involved.” She covered her mouth for a moment to recover. “Are you sure it was someone in your department. I could easily see this being a more personal prank.”
He looked at her suspiciously now, as though she might have done it. “I suppose it could have been something more personal. Was it you?” Teddy asked but he was quickly moving on with a snap of his fingers. “Oh, I could see Seth being behind this actually. I’ll have to ask him about it.” He was chuckling now as he pulled her closer.

“Well, I am a professor, I have to be able to tell stories, even ridiculous ones, with a straight face.” Teddy tweaked her nose lightly. “I think you’re crafty, you could have found a way to pull it off last minute, but no, you would not have been able to keep it a secret for long. You would have been too excited.” He continued to laugh happily as he pulled away from her so he could take her hand and intertwine their fingers. “Seth will be much harder to read.”

“Oh it was the right room. I walked in and the students were finishing introducing themselves. Then this one kid sitting at the end of the table started talking.” Teddy put on an American accent as he continued. “Now. What do you think of when you hear the word ‘empire’? What empires can you name?” He laughed before switching back to his normal voice. “I wasn’t sure what to do and the students actually started to respond! So finally I cleared my throat and fully entered the room. The kid got up and left without a single word and I got to actually start the class. I think someone else in the department must have been pranking me.”

Jo smiled up at him in return. She kept their fingers linked together as she lifted his arm up enough that she could duck under it and nestle in again. “I am sadly lacking in the interesting stories department. It’s been mostly the usual start of class things. Plus the whole learn how to be a GA training. Tell me one of yours. Please.”
Teddy happily let her settle in against him and he gave her a light squeeze. “Sure, I can do that.” He chuckled softly as he recalled the story. “So it was the first day for my seminar about Global Empires and I was running a little late. I ran into Dr. Gregg, you remember the religious studies professor? Incredibly eccentric, has terrible nicknames for me, and probably should have retired at least six years ago?”

“Strangely enough, he’s not the weird part of the story.” Teddy laughed happily as he reached up to lightly cover her hand with his. “He got caught up in one of his rants. I think it was about religion and art, I don’t know to be honest.” He waved it off before continuing. “It’s really impossible to get him to stop once he starts, however, and it took a minute to get a word in to tell him I needed to get to a class. When I finally managed to escape and get to my classroom I find it is already in session.” He glanced at her with a smile, pausing so she could react.

“And that’s why I’m here.” Teddy pressed in for a kiss before starting to walk with her again. His fingers linked with hers as he gave her hand a squeeze. “Now that we’ve got that mushy part out of the way,” He glanced down at her with a smile. “How about you tell me a little bit about what’s been going on with your classes? Any interesting stories yet? Because I might have a couple.”
imnotlateareyou:
Jo giggled softly. “In some ways, I think Seth is worth than both of us when it comes to terrible jokes.” She reached for his hand and squeezed it. “We definitely do make a good pair. Which is quite surprising for me. I was certain there wasn’t anyone for me out there.”
Teddy leaned over to press another kiss to the top of her head. “It shouldn’t be surprising. You’re wonderful and amazing. One of the smartest people I know outside of myself.” He chuckled softly before smiling at her.

“I am not over estimating.” Teddy shook her lightly. “You constantly underestimate yourself and I’m here to remind you that you are so much more than you think.” He pulled away from her to take her face in his hands. “I mean everything I said and not just because I am in love with you.”
