67. Democracy

I had been told not to go. I went anyway. My dauther had warned me: “Jettrey, there will be so much Darkness there…” I paid no heed. When I returned, I discovered I had been infected. It was in my mind. Sometimes I could feel it controlling me. I searched far and wide across the sector for a cure. Finally, I came across a tome, a grimoire, that told me I could transform what had gotten inside of me on that expedition. So I broke the code of my ancestors, and injected high end nanos into my brain, molding it.

The Shade was also transformed, first it fought, kicking and screaming. Eventually, it subsided, and…little…MES…started to form. They tended to what I had given them, the entirety of the inside of my skull, and…they began to PLAY. The advice of masters past had worked! I was cured!

Or so I thought. When I listened in closely, to what I had originally thought as gibberish, I heard their language composed of one solitary word, chopped up into thousands of combinations and reimaginings, forming an entire language: the name my childhood bullies had given me. ——————— I’m pretty dissatisfied with this one, mostly with the linework and lack of A N G L E S, I kind of rushed the penwork here. Next time I will take more time and challenge myself with how I actually put down the lines. I could have also done the walled-brain entirely in hatches. Like I said, you live and learn. Hopefully in the next piece I will use more black too.

The prompts for this one were “Roasted” and “draw a small village in your world”.
