Trekking the Annapurna Circuit in Different Seasons
Time is a major factor in planning the Annapurna base camp trek. Remember, not all seasons are suitable for trekking; each has certain pros and cons. Also, not all seasons are ideal for everyone.
If you don't determine the right time for trekking the Annapurna circuit, your trip might not be successful. You might be forced to quit the trek midway and asked to try the next year. To avoid such problems, know how different seasons are for the Annapurna circuit trek.

Spring season
Spring is considered the second most popular season for trekking in Nepal. People prefer early spring for the Annapurna base camp trek as the daytime temperature is average. If you want to enjoy crystal clear views and a fresh environment, choose April. May is also good but a little warmer than April.
In May, you can enjoy views of the snow-capped mountains from a lower altitude and crystal-clear views from a higher altitude.
Pros: Stable temperature, warmer weather conditions, and fewer trekkers
Cons: Hot and sweaty, and mountain views distracted by the afternoon clouds
Monsoon season
This is the rainy season in Nepal. During the monsoon season, the temperature increases in the daytime. Trekking the Annapurna circuit this season doesn't mean you will get rain every day. You need to be prepared for the rain and select your dress accordingly.
Rain wipes away the pollution and makes the environment dust-free, giving the best view of the green landscape. The best part is that the trekking trail is less crowded, meaning a few trekkers on the route.
Pros: Dust and pollution-free environment and fewer trekkers on the trekking trail
Cons: Muddy and slippery trekking trail and disturbance from leeches.
Autumn season
This is the peak season for the Annapurna Circuit Trek because the environment is clean and fresh. The temperature in the autumn season is mild to warm on days and cold at night.
As there is less rain in this season, trekkers enjoy crystal-clear views of the mountains along with beautiful mountain flora and fauna. The best thing is the cultural program and festivals that usually fall this season.
Pros: Stable weather conditions with clear skies, beautiful mountain views, and warmer days while trekking.
Cons: Crowded trekkers and trekking trials
Winter season
Trekking the Annapurna circuit means enjoying Nepal's coldest months. The morning is usually foggy, but the afternoon is usually clear, with occasional snowfall in the mountains. Sometimes, high passes get blocked because of the snow in this season.
As teahouses are operational at high altitudes, you can enjoy warm meals and good accommodation facilities on your Annapurna base camp trek. The weather is stable and dry, giving crystal views of the snow-capped mountains. The area is less crowded, allowing you to enjoy trekking peacefully.
Pros: Fewer visitors, a less crowded trail, and good discount on your accommodation and food
Cons: Routes and passes blocked by a high level of snowfall.
Are you ready?
If you know the suitable season for trekking the Annapurna circuit, book your package today with the Himalayan Dream Team.
