READ - READING - TO READ A variety of input allows me to stay level headed. The fashion industry easily feels like a whole world of its own. It’s not and I want to remember that it’s just a tool, a means to an end. Don’t just do it. Do it to create resources, connections, education, realisation, love.

Pablo Picasso “Plaque petit buste de femme” - 1964. Linocéramic. Super interesting to use the same approach you would with linolieum print but then applying it to ceramics.

GRAPHIC DESIGN, 3D DESIGN & ANIMATION Creation of a visual kit for our group’s event. We were 20 and we organised a panel discussion around the topic of digital creation & environmental impact. I put together the digital and environmental aesthetic to create the above visuals. With two team mates we managed to make an animated version of it too, which was showcased on screens through all buildings of our campus.

BRIEFING & STORY WRITING
This documentary is a collaboration between our team of 22 students and two professional filmmakers: Menno Fokma & Xena Maria Evers. I pushed the team to make a documentary since it was very relevant to our concept and the context, after periods of debate we all agreed. I was in charge of: as a brander, the storyline of the documentary & all communications between the two parties were under my responsability. So I had to make sure that conceptually we were relevant and that as a whole we were coherent. I learned to use my voice in a big team for 3 reasons, inspire, clarify & give direction.
Concept: Build up - unite & embrace the process. Source locally & share globally.

Beautiful mixture of fabrics reminding me of the japanese Boro technique. Seen @ the producers market in Lorgues, FRA. Cool market that supports the people that produce locally (vs the people who import stuff & sell it). Every friday from 8-13

Pawel Bownik uses glues, adhesive tapes, ropes, elastics, tape measure to disasemble and reassemble organic elements. Giving them an odd look, they look fake, destroyed but enhanced at the same time. As if they have been “upgraded” the same way Frankenstein was. An interesting comment about this written in the foam book says that this symbolises the complexity of nature, hardly ever controlled. More specifically they say that the spark of life is too fickle for that.

North Face website only for renewed gear. Pretty smooth website and idea. Personally, I spend a lot of time looking for second hand gear and I’m really dependant on the people that sell the gear, some give very honest and authentic explanation of the gear’s state and utility, some don’t. That’s also what makes it fun, to me, not to everyone since it’s sometimes tiring and risky.

Land and Food is bigger than Fashion. When Fashion has a problem don’t look at fashion to solve it. Look at how you treat land, food and waste. Solutions will be found intertwined with how we see and treat nature.

CONCEPTING & BRIEFING Create a new branch for an existing brand to tackle a new target group. Then make a briefing for a store design. Keeping the traits of initial brand in a “easter egg” maner, translate the new brand’s identity resulting in a store design that takes shopper’s experience into account (UX)

3D DESIGN & 360° VR VIDEO EDITING Creation of a VR environment that showcases how stores are actually a collection of natural ressources. Hopefully revealling the need for lowered consumption. All work has been done by myself over a 6 months learning period within a specialized course at AMFI (Amsterdam Fashion Institute) using Blender, Meshroom & Photoshop.

Who am I & why are you
Entering my 6th and final year of studying, I’m looking for what will be my 3rd internship. My name is Jimmy, I’m born & raised in the fairly famous “Provence”. With two Dutch parents & an odd love for English. I got and took the opportunity to speak those 3 languages fluently, French, Dutch and English. I’m painfully passionate about environmental and ethical issues & I have a strong love/hate relationship with the fashion industry I’m currently studying for.
And that is most probably why YOU are reading this, because you are simultaneously fighting for and against clothing. That is the energy that drives me & it can push me forward. Towards a society that respects nature. Not any ego driven motivations can fuel me the way community and nature can. My abilities are wide ranging but come down to storytelling, copywriting, research and concepting. With a variety of digital knowledge and skills I could be seen as a boosted Gen Z that still values craft. My 3rd internship is a much needed time to get hands on. Work along people who are also trying to improve this industry. Not just cosmetically. My creativity, drive & positivity can only come in handy when tamed with humbleness. Let’s unite.
