The way I see it, Vi and Xaden are compliments of their dragons. Tairn is a grump, but he's always out to protect Andarna and Violet. He has a soft spot for his girls, including Sgaeyl, but otherwise, he's noble, fiersome, regal. Xaden is MUCH the same.

Sgaeyl, on the other hand, is vicious. She's short-tempered, spicy, and gets her point across. She ONLY has eyes for Tairn. Whoooo does this sound like 👀

Xaden using sgaeyl and tairn’s bond as an excuse to be close to Violet all while sgaeyl rightfully sasses him up for it is now my sole will and purpose to life

Violet learns a dark secret about Xaden, there's a major battle against the venin in a surprise location, Andarna comes in clutch despite initially being told to not be there, someone important to Violet dies, the day is saved but a bombshell revelation appears in the final pages.

We can call Violet and Xaden a power couple, but the iconic power couple is actually Tairn and Sgaeyl. I love those dragons an insane amount

finding out that the scary blue dragon that wanted to eat violet after parapet was bonded to xaden and spending the rest of the book thinking "wow i wonder what xaden's mental interactions are like with her"

then we get xaden's bonus chapters and find out it's just him blocking sgaeyl out all the time, and her breaking through just to humble him for the hundredth time that day

It just dawned on me… what if Brennan’s signet is mending because what he wanted most in the world was to help Violet with her pain? They say signets are what the rider is at their core and, despite his many flaws, Brennan loves Violet.

He grew up watching his little sister —someone he should keep safe— always in pain, always breaking, always crying, and it made him wish he could do something about it, so his signet gave him a chance to help her. Because, back then, before the venin and the Battle of Aretia, Brennan was first and foremost a brother, Violet’s brother.

I’m not sure what I love more about the bonus chapters: Xaden calling Violet a pint-size morsel of straight-up arsenic, or him calling Andarna cute.

Not to mention him calling Sgaeyl my girl.
