I think the funniest thing SNW could do with the La'An/Spock romance is just, let them have a happy ending. Nobody dies, maybe they even get married on the ship, at the end Spock stays on the Enterprise while La'An takes a different posting.

Then the entirety of TOS and the movies Spock just has a very busy wife on a different ship (maybe first officer for Una!) and they meet up when they can and have after shift calls and Spock never mentions her because he's a very private guy.

Like he's already got a secret sibling he's never mentioned again, this isn't that much of a stretch. Please writers I just want La'An to be happy and not get fridged.

So in true Star Trek fashion, the computer/Enterprise saw La'an and Spock dancing and about to kiss, and when that didn't happen, it made its own fanfiction using the holodeck (almost killing everyone) to get what it wanted.
