Some thoughts on first person POV in fanfic

I like reading in first person, specially when a book is really about the psychology of a character, but in fanfiction it's a completely different thing. Tbh for me it's already hard to come by a fic written in first person and I don't really have a clear memory of reading one, but I've seen a lot of people not liking it. I honestly get it, writing a character is hard enough already, so writing something in their pov and having an accurate characterization is not gonna be easier (that's what I think). Because of this I think fics written in first person might be seen as more cringy, or low quality. Of course this is all about preference in the end, but I feel like this is one of the points people usually bring up when talking about things they don't like in fanfiction. As I said I do understand where this people could be coming from. I personally stop reading fics when I don't like the characterization. I still think they should be given a chance, you never know if your next favorite fic might be one written in first person. I love a good third person narrator as much as the next person, but you know, first person as its own charm.

Idk, am I thinking it too much? Now I kinda want to write one myself to see it I pull it off… hehe
