Rosie is home!

My mechanic says Rosie is 205cm tall. My garage says it’s 205cm tall.

Challenge accepted.

Draft One.

Had a few problems. Nothing serious, like the bed blocking out the windows or the wood fired rocket heater directly above the fuel tank and right next to the fuel line coming out of it...

This draft did land a stroke of genius though. The couch/bed roll out will be made of a thick commercial grade felt with a large zipper, that effectively zips the sheets and doona inside - so you don’t have to strip everything off and put it back on again to go from day to night. #Genius

These are some of the bibs and bobs going inside clockwise from top left;

1.Inspo for what the couch/bed will look like (minus giant zipper)

2.Natural timber bench that will go in on the lefthand side

3.15 Litre fridge, for diary. Y’all butter won’t survive summer inside a van.

4.Traveller rocket stove and fire place (I know. Amazing)

I went with Rosie to da club over the weekend (to join up).

Soon enough she’ll be ready to hit the road, fit and ready for her club plates.

Then the real work begins. The work that counts. On the inside.

Rosie is a New South Welsh Woman at heart. But she won’t be for long.

We picked her up from just outside Wollongong from her loving owner and intended to get home by that evening.

Turns out Rosie has done ?47147km, where ? replaces any number between 1-9.

She also doesn’t really go much faster than 90km but that is unconfirmed as the speedo isn’t super accurate.

Arriving at 10.30pm we bunked in at Albury for the night before an early 5.30am start.

We only lost the fuel gauge once, and the highlight was when we also saw a 3 tonne truck, carrying what looked to be a 2 tonne truck, that was carrying a Ford Fiesta, all strapped together with some bright yellow strapdowns. 

Needless to say, that vehicle(s) was the only one we needed to overtake that morning...

For an almost original ‘76 Ford Transit, the fact we made the 800km trip at all is a testament to her gutsy character (and killer looks).

Rosie is a Maroon 1976 Ford Transit. 

She's getting a do over. It's probably going to be pretty sweet.

After all, girls just wanna have fun. 

Rosie is definitely one of those girls.
