You know I never really viscerally understood “revenge is a dish best served cold” until this past summer when I was at a party and I was talking to someone with relative power and influence just casually. And THAT PERSON brought up a Guy I Hate™️ and COMPLETELY UNPROMPTED was like “did I ever tell you about how that guy fucked up massively and now no one likes him” and I, three drinks in and vindicated beyond my wildest dreams had to hold it together and say “no actually you never did…”

Then I got to hear this person recount the tale of how Guy I Hate fucked up so massively that everyone nearby decided they never wanted to work with him again. AND, GLEEFULLY, the actual recounted story matched up perfectly with how I imagined it had all gone down in my shower conversations with myself about it. It had been eight years. I had healed. The fires of the fight had raged so long ago that the forests were regrowing. And then without warning the revenge arrived, cold to the touch but sweet just the same.

It was the most incredible feeling in the world. I truly hope that you someday hear about how a Guy You Hate™️ is objectively a loser from someone with the power to keep That Guy from working in your industry. Or equivalent. It CAN happen. It’s happened to me
