STFU Powder
Intent: To bind tongues, silence gossip, and get loud-mouthed jerks to SHUT THE FUCK UP.
Ingredients:
Slippery Elm
Deerstongue
Nettle
Sassafras
Bloodroot
Materials:
Mortar & Pestle (or spice grinder)
Funnel
Mesh Strainer
Collection Dish
Container
Grind each ingredient separately for several minutes to produce fine powder. Sieve the material through the mesh strainer into the collection dish; this removes the larger ungrindable pieces and gives you cleaner powdered herb. (Pro-Tip: Putting a funnel under the strainer helps reduce lost material.) Combine the component powders in the collection dish, mix well, and bottle immediately. Sprinkle where you know the target will be, particularly in meeting places where you know the target will be tempted to ramble on. Use in any spellwork meant to silence gossip, bind wagging tongues, keep secrets, discourage hateful words, and make people eat their words.

“Come Home Safe” Spell Jar
Components
Small jar with cork
Black salt (protection)
Cloves (luck)
Rosemary (protection)
Black pepper (speedy work)
Paper with intentions
White candle (protection and attraction)
Brown yarn (bringing them home, comfort)
Process
Cleanse components.
Layer in salt then herbs.
Add paper with intentions.
Cork jar.
Wrap brown string around jar and add intentions with knotwork.
Seal jar with wax. Optionally burn candle down on top of it while adding energy.
Place jar near door or window lost person/pet is most likely to use/be near.
So our cat got out recently, and as we were out physically looking for her and doing all the necessary mundane steps, I made this to try and attract her home and keep her safe while she was out. I prayed to St. Anthony (patron of lost things) and St. Francis (patron of animals). I also made appeals to Cernunnos to protect her.
She came home within two days, and we managed to get her back inside, no worse for wear (our poor dog was, though - he tried to chase her and got a scratched ear for it).

"Outta My Way" Powder
Intent: To remove difficult obstacles caused by other people.
Ingredients:
Sumac Berries (sub: Vetiver)
Galangal Root (sub: Cinnamon)
White Oak Bark
Sassafras
Black Sugar
Cloves
Materials:
Mortar & Pestle
Funnel
Mesh Strainer
Collection Dish
Container
IMPORTANT NOTE: There many species of Sumac growing in North America, and it’s important to know the difference if you go out to harvest your berries from the wild.
Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina) or Smooth Sumac (Rhus glabra) are the ones you want. They have narrow leaves, upright cones of fuzzy red berries, and are relatively harmless. The fruit, which ripens from July through September (search in the fall for dried cones), is edible and can be used to make a pinkish, lemony-flavored drink, or ground to add spice to meat and vegetables.
Poison Sumac (Toxicodendron vernix) is a mimic and is not true sumac. It has white berries, wider leaves, and causes an itchy and highly uncomfortable rash, and should be scrupulously avoided. A general rule of thumb: if you see a plant whose leaves have an oily-looking sheen, DO NOT TOUCH IT. “Leaves that shine, no friend of mine.” Better safe than sorry.
If you cannot obtain wild sumac (or just don’t want to go tramping through the woods), the berries are available for purchase online, or you can substitute Vetiver.
Grind each ingredient separately for several minutes to produce fine powder. Sieve the material through the mesh strainer into the collection dish; this removes the larger ungrindable pieces and gives you cleaner powdered herb. (Pro-Tip: Putting a funnel under the strainer helps reduce lost material.) For the White Oak Bark, Sassafras, and Galangal Root, retain the leftover large pieces that don’t make it through the strainer. You can use this for loose incense or charm bags later. Remember, witchlings: waste not, want not! (If you don’t have Galangal Root handy, plain cinnamon will suffice.) Combine the component powders in the collection dish, mix well, and bottle immediately.
Sprinkle where you know the person who is the cause of your problem will be walking. Alternatively, you can write down a list of your grievances, the method by which you want to obstacle removed, and the ideal outcome, then add a few pinches of the powder and folder the paper into a tight packet (use tape on the edges). You can stick this in a jar or keep it tucked away or carry it in your pocket, whichever is more relevant to your situation.
For more magical powder and potion recipes, check out my book, Pestlework.

How to Write Your Own Spells
There are lots of ways to create spells, from planning everything to the minutest detail ahead of time to absolutely flying by the seat of your pants in the moment. If you'd like to write your own spells, either for use in your craft or as a creative exercise, here are some suggested steps that I use in my own practice:
1) Determine the intent or goal of your spell. Decide, first and foremost, what you want the spell to do. Refine your goal if necessary and try not to be too nebulous. Your intent tells the spell what it's meant to do. A more focused goal may increase the chances of success.
2) Determine how you want the spell to manifest. Decide how the spell should work and what the result should look like. This is a good time to build in a sign of success, especially for spells that may not work in an obvious or visible way.
3) Determine what or whom the spell will affect. If the spell is to have a target, be it a person or a place or an animal or an object, decide what that should be and how they or it will be represented in the casting.
4) Determine how long the spell is meant to work. If your spell is timebound or has a deadline, decide what that will be. If the spell is meant to work long-term, you may want to check in and refresh it from time to time. (Not every spell will be timebound. Many spells will simply expire when they have fulfilled their purpose or if they are blocked or circumstances are not favorable.)
5) Determine the timing of the spell, if applicable. Not everyone uses celestial or astrological timing for their spells, but if you do, look into the prevailing conditions and decide on an advantageous time for your casting. (Please note that magical timing can only enhance your spell and casting something on the "wrong" day will not necessarily cause it to fail.)
6) Determine what methods and materials you want to use to cast the spell. Decide how you're going to go about performing the casting, whether you're doing a ritual or making a charm or just using energy. If you're going to need a ritual space or physical components, plan that out and make sure it fits with what you want to do.
7) Determine the words, if any, which will empower the spell. If you want to include a prayer or a petition or a song or an incantation with your spell, decide what that should be. This is not strictly necessary and the words need not be spoken aloud. (Rhyming incantations are not required, but if you prefer them that way, you can certainly do so.)
8) Prepare the materials for casting the spell. Get all your necessaries together ahead of time. Make sure you have everything you need, that tools and components are in good and useable condition, prepare your workspace, and make sure everything is within easy reach so you don't have to stop and search for things in the middle of your casting. (And for goodness sake, if you're working with open flame, observe fire safety and tie your hair and sleeves back.)
9) Finalize details and perform the casting. When you're ready to begin, try to eliminate as many possibilities for distraction or interruption as possible. Go over your spell and components one more time, then proceed with casting the spell.
10) Record the particulars for future reference and to determine how well the spell worked. Make a record of the spell, including your goal, how it should manifest, the words and components used, the date of the casting, the casting method and procedure, and how the casting went. If there are any additional details or observations that seem important, include those as well. This will serve as a useful learning tool in the future and will allow you to check your work if the results make themselves known.
It's useful to write spells from time to time if the inspiration strikes you, in order to better understand how they fit together and how they work. Plus it's a fun and creative journaling exercise and recording the spells you cast a great way to measure your progress later on.
For additional tips on writing your own spells and helpful tricks for using timing and available materials to your advantage, check out my podcast, Hex Positive, Eps. 006-007, "Come In For A Spell, pt 1 & 2."

What the Fuck Happened to Jyggalag: A History of the Prince of Order
In-Game Lore
Stern Jyggalag sets order on its path
~Skald Skullsplitter in Darkest Divinities
Before some clown decided to start recording history, Jyggalag ruled over a realm of perfect order across the seas of Oblivion, aided by his librarian and later overall-chamberlain Dyus of Mytheria. This realm of perfect order and intense power Jyggalag held was generally considered a bad thing among the other Daedric Princes. They made him turn into Sheogorath and his realm into the Shivering Isles, but at the end of every Era he would turn back into Jyggalag and retake the Shivering Isles. At the end of this Greymarch, he turned back into Sheogorath, starting the cycle over again.
In 3E 433 (during the Shivering Isles DLC of Oblivion), someone popped open a doorway to the Shivering Isles in Niben Bay. Someone (the Champion of Cyrodiil) got the idea to go check on that. Sheogorath called dibs on them and made them his new mortal Champion because he could tell a new Greymarch was about to begin because Knights of Order (soulless servitors of Jyggalag) appeared in the Isles and weird obelisks started popping up. As it turns out, Sheogorath had a new and fun idea to break the cycle that Sheogorath-Jyggalag had been trapped in - the Champion would mantle the powers of Sheogorath, in the hopes that it would free Jyggalag to just be himself.
This would ultimately be true - the new Sheogorath would take the throne and Jyggalag would have his forces attack Sheogorath's Palace, ultimately culminating in an anime-esque duel between the two where the Champion would fight until Jyggalag yielded and congratulated the Champion on breaking the cycle.
Jyggalag then fucked off into Oblivion somewhere for reasons unknown. His ever-exhausted librarian Dyus figured that he would either be seeking revenge or pursue loftier goals, even potentially never returning to the Shivering Isles.
Strangely, some time in the Fourth Era, Sheogorath was said to have been driven even more mad by his memories of being Jyggalag, implying that either the Shivering Isles DLC didn't happen in the overall lore, or that mantling a role also included getting all the memories. Talym Rend, a Dunmer, was able to defeat Sheogorath at his own madness game by making the Madgod relive these memories.
And then we get to the events of Skyrim in 4E 201, when the mage Thoron got the Sword of Jyggalag and started a ritual to tear the veil between Tamriel and the Shivering Isles to ultimately destroy the Isles in a manner similar to the Greymarches. The Last Dragonborn put an end to the ritual by killing Thoron and taking the sword themself.
Overall, it's warned that Jyggalag will one day reassume his role with unknown ramifications for the complicated balance of power within Oblivion.
As mentioned in the Thoron paragraph, Jyggalag has just one Daedric Artifact - the Sword of Jyggalag. It was also said that replicas of the sword have been in existence since around 2E 582. His sword has been all over the place - the throne room of Sheogorath's Palace after he yielded to the Champion/New Sheogorath, in Talym Rend's possession before he decided to cause problems on purpose, in the possession of the mage Thoron before he got bodied by the Last Dragonborn, and possibly even in the possession of the Golden Saint Staada. It's a giant fuck-you claymore that's perfectly symmetrical and made of a weird silver crystalline material. It has an enchantment that allows those that gaze upon its edge to see the past, present, and future flow as one.
Pop Culture Witchcraft
Because Jyggalag is overall less-covered than every other Daedric Prince and intrinsically tied to Sheogorath, TES pagans and witches have had to build things from the ground up to figure out how and what to use to worship Jyggalag.
Altar ideas, offerings, and symbols can include:
books (especially nonfiction, scientific research)
candles (silver, white)
clear quartz
crystals in geometric shapes
cycle of rebirth
detective equipment
glass objects
hourglass
knight figurine (grey)
obelisks
organized space overall
planets (Earth, Jupiter, Mercury, Pluto, Saturn)
selenite
sword
traditional kinds of incense
water
wheel
white flowers (and wreaths including them)
Devotional activities can include:
cleaning and cleansing
embracing your strengths
linear ritual/spell working
participating in activism
putting things in order for future events
reflecting on past events
Summoning days may include:
28 Sun's Dusk (November 28th)
31 Evening Star (December 31st)

I use origami poppets since I'm still figuring out the whole sewing thing. For specific people, folding one out of a printed picture of them seems effective enough, plus some extra flair depending on the needs of the spell.
What's a poppet?
Popular subject these days…
Poppets are small humanoid figures which are commonly used for sympathetic magic; that is, any magic that involves altering or working upon one object which is meant to represent or be directly linked to a person or object, whether by naming or inclusion of source material, such as hair. The most common uses for sympathetic magic are healing, binding, and cursing.
I posted a bit about clay poppets not too long ago. You can make poppets out of just about anything. Common materials include:
Cloth
Clay or mud
Dolls
Straw
Potatoes
Tuberous roots (i.e. mandrake, whole ginger root)
Cloth poppets can be stuffed with wool or straw or herbs, as available materials and intent require. Clay and root or vegetable poppets are used when carving is needed, or when sewing skills are lacking. There’s also a school of thought that advocates using fashion dolls, dressed and decorated to represent the target, as poppets. (See: “Utterly Wicked” by Dorothy Morrison)
