QIT#2 // Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter
Guest post from my best friend and fellow makeup junkie, Angela!!!
These lipstick-balm-gloss hybrids were the subject of some intense lemmings fanned by beauty blogs. Only my self-imposed makeup ban stopped me from indulging. Luckily, Nicole read my mind and gave me three Lip Butters for Christmas: fuchsia Lollipop, ice pink Sugar Frosting, and lavender Gumdrop.
LOOOOVE!! They’re slick and shiny, pigmented, and slightly moisturizing (although it doesn’t replace lip balm). The closest comparisons I have are the Dior Addict lipsticks. Both feel balmy and have sheer to medium pigmentation depending on the shade—and sadly short staying power (about 2 to 4 hours until they disappear). But I actually prefer the Lip Butters: they’re more slippery, glossy, and moisturizing than the Dior Addict.
Because the Lip Butters are pigmented like a lipstick, choosing the right color is key. As a big fan of bright pinks, I’ve found a favorite in Lollipop. On the other hand, the cooler and paler Sugar Frosting and Gumdrop unflatteringly contrast with my warm skintone and still show some of my natural lip color. I think they could work if applied lightly with a warm gloss on top. I also hear the orange Tutti Frutti and warm pink Sweet Tart calling my name (::cough:: subtle hint, Nicole ::cough::) (just kidding) (not really).
Bottom line: These Lip Butters deliver almost everything you could want in a go-to lip product and are on par with a high-end lipstick.

Moms just recently won an iPad at her work, and it's been a bit hard trying to adjust from analog to digital for a lot of things. The biggest task of them all was trying to get my magazines on to my iPad (hehe... our iPad). My Bestie, David gave me heads up on the program Zinio which offered a free subscription to a few notable titles like Cosmopolitan and Seventeen magazine (which I would not usually buy a hard copy of, but would happily read on an e-reader for free).
As for my current magazine subscriptions it hasn't been so simple. I'm a magazine lover, and I probably have about five subscriptions to various magazines. Yesterday, I just changed my PO Box address to one closer to my work, so I had to go through the task of going online and changing all the addresses. While I was there, I tried to check and see if they would just give me a digital subscription instead, but a lot of them won't let you change over.
Props to magazine publisher Condè Nast, as a subscriber to Self Magazine, with their app in Newstand, I have access to the digital copies of all the magazines I've received since I've subscribed to them. Since this is the case, I can totally throw out the magazines that have been lying around and that I usually keep to refer back to (I love their workouts and meal plans). Now they're all in one place!
As for my other mags, I probably won't be renewing my print copies of these magazines, I'll definitely go digital from now on, but I wish that magazines would make the transition a lot easier. Of my five subscriptions, Self Magazine was the only one to offer digital copies to current print subscribers.
I'm an analog girl on the cusp of converting to a full digital life, so this is a great accomplishment!!!

The Quick in Thirty?
You may be asking what the heck is "The Quick in Thirty" anyway? Well this is the companion tumblr of my site Three to Thirty. Go there to see what that's all about. On this tumblr, I'll be doing quick reviews on products, movies or just post things/vids that I like.
The Quick in Thirty is a play on words related to the site I run (like the quick and dirty). This came about as way to get reviews on things without having to sit through a long detailed entry or explanation. In a world where everything operates in realtime... sometimes you just want to know in 330 words or less.
Have fun and enjoy!
