Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā OH , ya know ā¦ ā The flicker of a grin says he APPRECIATES being humored.Ā ā THIS , THAT , āĀ his tongue slides across the tip of her thumb,Ā ā THEĀ WEATHER ā¦ ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Despite the teasing glance he shoots Val, he lets his thoughts settle & his shoulders relax. Teeth scrape her knuckle as his lips close around it with just enough spit & suction to sound SATISFYING on the pull - away.
She grins at his antics; He certainly knows how to change the subject. It seems heās managed to distract himself in the process. As focused as she is on the way heās taking her into his mouth, the way his shoulders lower and eyebrows unfurrow isnāt lost on her.Ā
He pulls back and her hand finds his chest, pushing him backwards until the back of his thighs meet a nearby chair. She forces him to sit, rounding the furniture to rub his shoulders with both hands. She leans in real close, speaking her words close to his ear. āAnd howās the weather today? Hot?ā

11: did you ever write boring sex? 12: did you ever write about public sex?
[I don't know that I've ever written boring sex as Val. She has a way of keeping things exciting. But, I do like writing (and reading!) boring sex. I think there's this expectation specifically in fan media, not so much in published books and movies, that sex has to be sexy. That your goal when writing sex is to write something that will turn the readers on.
I love sex written as just being another facet of human life. I love boring awkward sex scenes where the characters have no chemistry, or where someone can't get it up, or where a leg cramp happens at the worst time and neither of them can get back in the mood afterwards. I love sex scenes where things go wrong, where someone can't figure out a bra clasp or someone falls off the bed, but they laugh it off and keep going. I just like realistic characters in realistic settings living their lives.
With Val, public sex tends to be the default. I'm not sure I've ever written her having private sex. But, nothing particularly memorable stands out.]

His footsteps beat heavy on the tile floor; a rabbit running from it's potential assailant. She doesn't have to run to catch up. He backs himself into a corner, hiding, exactly as she's expected. She meets him there at her normal pace, a casual stride, without breaking a sweat. His trust, however, catches her off guard. She's expected to have to follow the sound of heavy breathing, to catch him by the collar of his shirt, drag him kicking and screaming to his feet.
Instead, he allows himself to be caught. He takes a misguided chance on her. The dim lighting of the asylum and silhouette of her makeshift dress are forgiving. She knows he recognizes her for what she is; a woman, a mother. Nurturing. Safe. He isn't able to reconcile that with the potential of her being a patient.
She's focused on him, on all she could do now that he's still; on a slow torture, blood under her nails, the second apostle gasping for breath under the weight of her. The urge burns inside her until it aches, like molten lava coursing through her veins. She's dizzy, always dizzy, on the brink of passing out, though it never comes. She's uncertain if it's a direct side effect of the static, or a side effect of a side effect; the sleep deprivation, the loss of appetite. She doesn't fight any of it anymore. A different perspective is welcome in a place like this.Ā
Butā¦ she's one of the few here coherent enough to think. She holds onto instinct like a lifeline, but she doesn't yet act. Later, she assures it. Soon. There's a method to her madness, the strategy of an animal hunting it's prey. She is soft, until she's not. She is soft, with sharp edges threatening to tear through her calm demeanor like tissue paper.Ā
"Consider me your guardian angel." She's closer, hand pressed to the wall he hides behind, looming over him. She exudes confidence; lack of fear is the strongest indicator that there's something terribly wrong.
"I got here the same way you did. He brought us here. Together. This is destiny."
She pauses for only a beat. She knows she needs bait to keep his attention. "I can help you find a way out."

[I see people having an easy time with the abuse Val faces (in MM verse and otherwise) because like "she's a r*pist, that's what she deserves" but like. She's not being abused BECAUSE she's a r*pist, she's being abused because she's trans. "That's what she deserves for being a r*pist" only works if there's an actual correlation because then it's like "well if she WASN'T a r*pist this wouldn't be happening to her, it's her own fault " but that's like. NOT the case. Being a good person, being a perfect well behaved morally correct trans person who's respectful of cis people, would not protect you from the things she's endured so anyway what I'm saying is the real horror is transphobia]

[Mount Massive au Val honestly works so well with the Outlast franchises encompassing theme of corporate greed being The Real Villain. Like it's consistently implied that the villains became villains because men like Jeremy Blaire wanted to make money off the abuse of vulnerable people.Ā
If the mentally ill patients of Mount Massive had received actual medical care instead of being tortured as fuel for a murder machine that Murkoff wanted to perfect so they could sell it to the military, none of this ever would've happened. And one thing that's never really addressed (and for what reason? Val could've easily been in Outlast 1 when they make it so explicitly clear that cis women are not allowed as patient or faculty in Mount Massive) is the treatment of trans women in men's prisons.Ā
I feel like a lot of people's only exposure to trans women in prison is in Orange is the New Black, and yes Laverne Coxs character does face transmisogyny, but she's still in a women's prison. A lot of people seem to think that's what happens when a trans person ends up in prison. It's what happens when you pass, when you've medically transitioned through hormones and surgery, when your name is legally changed and your sex marker on your ID matches your gender. Things that low income and homeless trans people do not have access to. Frequently, those are the people who turn to crime because they have no other means of survival. Even when people aren't in prison for theft, frequently it's low income people who end up with addictions and drug charges because being low income or homeless is hard and they're trying their best to cope. The majority of trans people in prison are not being housed with their gender or being addressed as such by guards or staff.Ā
Is Val in prison because she's a poor little meow meow who stole bread for her children? No, she murders men, she skins them alive, I don't know what the fuck is wrong with her, but she's still being subjecting to an extra level of constant disrespect and degradation that cis prisoners are not being forced to endure. It's horrendous to strip her of her humanity and identity in the way that Murkoff has, and if she wasn't a feral little freak it would be downright dangerous to lock her in a cell with violent men who haven't seen a woman in years.Ā
And sometimes I feel like it gets lost in my writing because she's always been good at spinning a situation in her favor. She has arrangements with some of the guards and feels like she's manipulating them to her benefit. But, honestly? Being like "hey, I know the other guards are starving you out, I'll sneak some food to you if you suck my dick first" to someone you're in a position of power over is horrendous. No matter how much, from Val's perspective, she thinks she's taking advantage of some of these men, they are the ones with the key to her cell and putting her in a position of having to barter with sexual favors to get basic needs met is not great! She may be making the best of a bad situation in Mount Massive, but she is being horrifically abused at every turn and anyway my point is fuck Murkoff]
