2002年に創刊されたhere and thereが、はじめて美術館の展覧会に展示されたのは2012年、MOMA　NYで開催されたMillenium Magazine展でした。

その後10年代に、数多くの展覧会に展示される機会を得たhere and thereですが、MOMA Library展覧会サイトのマニフェストは、美術史の観点から21世紀における個人出版物の台頭を解説する文献といえます。

2000年以降に出版された実験的なアート雑誌とデザイン雑誌を調査し、現代のアーティストやデザイナーが作品やテキストを発表するための実験的空間として、雑誌という形式をどのように活用しているかを探ります。20世紀を通じて、視覚芸術やデザインにおける国際的な前衛的活動は、しばしば雑誌やジャーナルという非公式な文脈の中で初めて体系化されました。本展は、MoMAライブラリーの所蔵品から、21世紀に入ってからのこの活動を追ったものです。展示される作品は、コミュニティ形成のための新聞、画像のみの写真雑誌、コンセプチュアルなデザインプロジェクトなど、このジャンルの国際的なタイトルを幅広く表しています。その内容は、画像制作、編集、デザイン、印刷、流通の多様な実践を物語っています。そこには、過去のアーティスト誌や20世紀の小さな建築・デザイン誌の系譜との明らかなつながりがあり、画像編集や印刷手法などの新しい技術の応用も明確に感じられます。これらの現代雑誌を集めることで、これらの実践を直接見ることができ、このメディアを記録し収集するMoMAライブラリーの持続的な努力を象徴しています。（Millenium Magazine展ウェブサイトより）

Founded in 2002, here and there was first exhibited in a museum exhibition in 2012 at the Millenium Magazine exhibition at MOMA NY.

Although here and there has had the opportunity to be shown in numerous exhibitions in the following decade, the manifesto on the MOMA Library exhibition site is a document that explains the rise of the individual publication in the 21st century from an art historical perspective.

This survey of experimental art and design magazines published since 2000 explores the various ways in which contemporary artists and designers utilize the magazine format as an experimental space for the presentation of artworks and text. Throughout the 20th century, international avant-garde activities in the visual arts and design were often codified first in the informal context of a magazine or journal. This exhibition, drawn from the holdings of the MoMA Library, follows the practice into the 21st century. The works on view represent a broad array of international titles within this genre, from community-building newspapers to image-only photography magazines to conceptual design projects. The contents illustrate a diverse range of image-making, editing, design, printing, and distribution practices. There are obvious connections to the past lineage of artists’ magazines and little architecture and design magazines of the 20th century, as well as a clear sense of the application of new techniques of image-editing and printing methods. Assembled together, these contemporary magazines provide a first-hand view into these practices and represents the MoMA Library’s sustained effort to document and collect this medium.

世情にうとい私に「bloggerはもういないようです」と教えてくれた編集者Iさん。そうか、他のSNSツールが忙しくてもうblogをやる人はいなくなったのか。と思いつつ、落穂広い的アーキビストな編集者魂で生きている自分は、10年間続けた（ごくまれにしか更新されない）blog が宝箱のように、過去の私からの手紙を届けてくれます。 そのnakakobooks.seesaa.netをhere and there 2010年代のブログとするなら、国内外の編集者仲間から超簡単なblogツールとして伝え聞いていたtumblrをつかって2020年代のブログとしよう、また項目にわけて発信していこう（展覧会情報は一つのtumblrアカウントhereandtherenews.tumblr.com に集約）など考えて、発信の整理を行いました。 また、2020年代のブログとしてはじめた hereandtherelove.tumblr.comにはいくつか、vol.15や『つくる理由』まわりの話題を掲載しました。 アイコンは、昨年夏東京・池上のSSSで開催された発行記念展に展示されたharu.さんの作品の展示風景からつくりました。haru.さん　@hahaharu777 と、そしてharu.さんの営む会社HUG @hug_inc ともに、イギリス留学から帰国後、ハンカチのプロジェクトやhere and thereで、とても印象深い協働をさせていただいて、感謝しています。 here and thereは世代、人種、さまざまな違いを乗り越えて「たとえ分断されても、アメーバのようにつながって互いを支える関係をつくり出す」（引用元・林央子著「わたしと『花椿』」DU BOOKS　２月２４日刊行予定）場を目指し、そこにむけてあらたなつながりを創出します。 https://www.instagram.com/p/CobKGKPyftC/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

vol.15 belonging issueをめぐる言葉

here and there vol.15はグラフィックデザイナーの尾中俊介さん（カラマリ・インク）をお迎えし、対話をつむぎながらの制作プロセスを重ねました。

　　どこに誰といて、何をするか？

　　編集者とデザイナーの相互侵犯、ともにつくる理由

　　対話から生まれる

　　つくることで抵抗する

以上は2022年にいくつかのスペース（７月福岡　本屋青旗、８月東京・池上　SSS、10月浜松　Books and Prints）で展開した新刊フェアやトークイベントにつけた名前ですが、それは同時に尾中さんと私の対話のなかで、vol.15の制作過程に生まれた言葉の羅列でもあります。

belonging issueという翻訳しがたい特集タイトルについては、自分なりの心境と制作意図を下のような言葉で言い換えてみました。

　　いま、ここにいたい人と手をつなぐ

イギリス留学のおわり、コロナ禍、戦争への突入など、制作開始の2021年冬から発売時期の2022年初夏にかけて自分をとりまく動きや流れのなかで浮かんだキーワードです。

vol.15はビジュアルからテキストへ、here and there制作における重点の推移が反映された号になりました。

つくる理由

2021年６月、イギリス留学中のロンドンの自宅に、DU BOOKSから発売された著書『つくる理由』が届きました。

『拡張するファッション』を出版いただいた版元の編集者、稲葉将樹さんが新しい職場に移られて、続編的に出版の依頼をいただいた本を、インタビュー集にしたいと提案したのは2011年だったと思います。そこから10年。タイトルは2014年には決めていました。

年月を経て継続的に行った９組のアーティストやデザイナーとの対話を一冊に束ねました。また、あとがきは、人生のなかで突発的に訪れた留学生活中のロンドンで執筆しました。

MODUS was Initiated in 2018 by Ruby Hoette and Caroline Stevenson in collaboration with Roland Brauchli. MODUS takes various forms, from publications to events, exhibitions and workshops as well as the MODUS Archive; a collection of printed matter documenting this growing field - all with the aim of building an international network that represents and supports this community of practitioners. The central thread is a glossary - a collection of habits, methods, techniques, repetitions and actions - that together, begin to map out a shared language for expanded fashion practice.

MODUSは2018年にRuby HoetteとCaroline Stevenson、Roland Brauchliによって立ち上げられました。MODUSは出版物、イベント、展覧会、ワークショップ、そしてMODUSアーカイブ（この成長分野を記録した印刷物のコレクション）までさまざまな形態をとります。すべては、実践者たちのコミュニティを代表し支援する国際ネットワークを構築することを目的としています。中心となるのは、習慣、方法、技術、反復、行動などを集めたグロッサリー（用語集）であり、ファッションの実践を拡大するための共有言語を描き出すことを目的とします。
