Biography: (Content Warning: Religious Trauma, Mental Health Struggle, Parental Death, Internalized Transphobia)

Elio was brought up in the most loving household he could have ever imagined for himself, he's still trying to figure out where it all went wrong.

Elio was born straight in the middle of a very large Catholic family in Southern Louisiana. Being assigned female at birth, he was very forced into that gender role. The idea was always instilled in him that he would also one day have a large Catholic family.

Elio's family did not have a lot of money, and were often dependent on charity from their church, something Elio really appreciated and admired. He was never ashamed that they had to ask for help from the church, but rather proud that the church had helped them.

When Elio was still very young he began to feel very out of place in his own body. He never could seem to feel right about himself no matter how hard he tried. He hated when anyone would compliment him and became very self conscious. When he started to think of himself as a guy, he knew it did not fit any of the things he had been taught, so he began to ignore it.

When Elio was fourteen his mother passed away very suddenly. It completely shook him to his core. After her death Elio became incredibly depressed and threw himself even further into the church to cope.

As Elio continued to question his gender identity he decided the best way to be true to his religious beliefs would be to become a nun. After graduating from school he found an order and began to study under them.

As time went on this became more troublesome for Elio as a part of him knew this was not where he belonged. He only became more depressed and often anxious.

Finally Elio admitted that he would be unable to take the vows. He left the order, and never returned home. He began transitioning and gained a sense of confidence he had previously thought would be impossible for himself.

Elio gained back a confidence he never knew that he was missing. He discovered that he was happy, so he called himself Elio after the sun.

Elio has moved to New York with hopes of living his best queer life in the city. He runs a bookstore as reading has always been a passion and an escape for him and he hopes to share it with others.

Connections:

Relatives: Elio comes from a big southern family. He grew up close with not just his parents and siblings, but his aunts, his uncles, his cousins, his second cousins. He lost contact with most of them but it would be so important to him to gain it back.

Bad Influence: Elio is so wholesome, too wholesome, and he knows it too. He has so few experiences in the world and wants to experience them all, and I would love to see some people drag him into some naughtier activities.

Store Regulars: Elio loves to talk to other people about books. He loves to be recommended books and he loves to recommend books. He just wants to talk to people about books.

Roommates: Elio can't afford a place of his own in the city. He and his cat really need a place to live.
