This handsome man is having surgery today. He's dealt with knee pain for years and after a horrible trip to Disney, taking a year off crossfit and every imaginable remedy, he is finally getting it fixed. I'll be unable to answer emails or phone calls at a reasonable time or manner so please forgive me until we figure out our new hustle & flow. With three kids in school and a winter vortex here in Ohio, its making ife super interesting!! PS. I love this candid of CRH while on a boat in Palmetto Bluff. I used to cringe at the thought of shooting in direct sunlight, that was until I picked up my Pentax. Everything changed when I realized how much I could do with film and shooting in harsh lighting was so much different. I didn't lose my detail, it felt natural and lets be honest, not all my weddings are shot at golden hour. I have a photography tip for you today but first I must confess something. I love black & white film but as a digital photographer from the start, I don't shoot b/w at weddings. Here is my tip for those who are like me, a true hybrid photographer, find a preset that gives you that gorgeous black and white look! This photo was taken on film in a beautifully lit room but I already hada film camera in one hand and a nikon in the other. I have so much going on that I don't have time to meter for different film stocks and switch between three cameras. I've been there, done that and it was too much for me. I used a new @noblepresets on this photo and its everything I wanted it to look like. I love that I have it in color and that I'm able to convert as I creatively see fit. Where should we go this year? We have asked ourselves this question about 100 times today in hopes of planning a vacation. So where do we go with three kids? Mountains? Beach? Disney? I found myself looking at flights to Scotland but quickly realized my kids need to be a little older for that trip. Life is so interesting with kids & witha job that blesses you with a little traveling. I made it a goal to go on one intentional trip this year. Meaning there isn't a wedding in the middle of it, no portrait scheduled or meetings just a trip planned for our family. Its harder then it looks!! So where should we go friends? This was our year, a complete blur. When you spend a lot of your life planning the future & booking weddings for the next year you are just constantly in a state of whats next. I don't remember what any of our goals were but I do know some dreams came true. We had personal trials, victories in the business and so many wonderful memories. I'm looking forward to 2019 but I'm also feeling like I need to prepare myself for the craziest ride we are about to go on. I won't be the one to say "bring it on 2019" because that's just playing with fire. I'm just gonna rest on the fact that God has planned this and He is in control. Thank goodness its not me because who the heck knows where we would be!
