Here's the summary:

It was a beautiful morning, the sky dyed a rich crimson, turning the sea a dusty pink, the sun reflecting onto the rippling waves as it climbed up, up, up. They were going home.

Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in the morning, sailor's warning. Eurylochus never does get to go home.
