As Mungo leaned over the water he focused on his reflection. He wondered what it was the men had recognized in him. Where was this signal he could not see, the semaphore he had never meant to send? Was it in how his eyes never quite met theirs, how they turned themselves down submissively? Was it in how he stood with his hands limp at his side, his weight on one leg? He wanted to find the signal, and he wanted to end its transmission. The men had looked at him as though they knew what lay inside his soul, things he still had not even admitted to himself. They knew the inescapable shame of it, how isolated it made him feel, and they had used that to separate him from his home and do as they pleased.

i’ve been pretty confused about the “is this how nicky died?” line followed by the kiss until i just heard that interview with jac about the kiss.
we have confirmation agatha isn’t doing it to save billy it’s because she has to kiss rio in that moment. but why?
and i think billy’s line is what reminds agatha that the answer is no. this ISN’T how nicky died.
that line snaps agatha out of this image of rio she’s had of an uncaring death that just takes. it reminds her of the time she gave to nicky. she has to kiss her because she knows deep down rio didn’t come to collect nicky with storms and cackling threats. she knows rio. she loves rio.

If you start seriously looking into the history of railroads in the global south it's really not hard to become Literally The Joker. The vast majority of them were colonial enterprises, built to bring minerals to ports. Most of the decolonial, and/or vaugely left-wing Developmentalist governments that nationalized their networks ended up facing coups, having those networks run into the ground, and then eventually being privatized when Democracy Won Again (read: the amount of people thrown out of helicopters became a domestic liability.) If it wasn't that, the World Bank mandated privatization, or "open-access" pseudo-privitization, in order to get monetary aid. Since then, over the past ~30 years, many of these networks have come under control of various post-colonial bourgeoisie figures, or western companies primarily associated with mining, and returned to their effective colonial purpose, with most of the goals of running them as a public service completely disregarded.

I can't believe they made Jayce have to crawl his way up to Piltover all on his own with a bad leg just like Viktor did and they made Viktor experience a life of loneliness without Jayce right there when he probably never thought Jayce would go first since he had his illness and was the one actively dying.
Really "take each other's woes" right there giving Jayce the understanding of why Viktor felt the way he felt about himself and Viktor understanding why Jayce broke his promise just to save his life.

I believe everything should be offline, I believe that every time something that is not your internet browser (and I'm being generous here) should have a big red alert that says THIS PIECE OF SHIT PROGRAM NEEDS TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET AND REQUESTS YOUR CONSENT TO DO THIS SPECIFIC THING, and you had to touch a big red button and it would disconnect as soon as you close it.

It says alot about America that the first trans woman we have ever elected to Congress is a white lady career politician from Delaware, the Tax Haven State, a supporter of the zionist genocide, who used to be the HRC's national press secretary, who interned for Obama and worked on Beau Biden's AG campaigns when she was younger, who had the foreword to her memoir written by none other that the great Satan himself, Joe Biden

Mandatory caveat that Obama’s presidency had problems so the tumblr people don’t try to shoot me but anyways I often think about this one interview that Obama did a few years ago and in it he was asked what he was most proud of in his presidency and he was like we severely upped the efficiency of most household appliances in the US and reduced our carbon footprint a lot with that and helped people save on energy bills and that’s the sort of thing nobody ever notices
And he was right. I’d heard nothing about that. And I looked into it and there was a massive effort during his presidency to improve the efficiency of everyday household objects and do stuff like give people the means to install solar panels and track how much electricity they were using.
I missed this and I’m a person who’s generally in tune with what’s going on politically. Like there’s so many unsexy mundane things the government is working on all the time that are super important. And I kinda like the idea that a president’s proudest achievement is that he made your appliances eat up a bit less of your electric bill.

you know what else has me clawing at the walls? rio says "no one else in history has special treatment like you."
no one else in history. assuming rio collects everyone, or even just the magically-inclined, it's reasonable to also assume that she's been bargained with in the past - offered power, favours, service, probably from beings with far more power than a pre-darkhold agatha. but Death is implacable. until agatha. no one else in history.
and then we see how little it took agatha to get it.
a tearful plea and the threat of her hatred, and implacable Death bends. she pauses. she offers what she can. because she loves her.

So, something I learnt the other day. So, you know how dinosaurs supposedly can't see you if you stand still? Well that myth is based on real-life lizards/etc and how eyes in general work. So, once my dad starts infodumping, here comes some other cool information. We, humans, can in fact, also not see something unless it's moving. We fixed this by having our eyes constantly shake. And then our brain compensates for us, so we don't have to have shaky vision.
What if aliens don't have this? Like. What if they find out when one of us was looking at something in the distance, and they walk around this thing that's in front of them, and the alien is confused so they bob their head and oh, there's a thing there, but how did the human know that, and then we explain and they're like, horrified.
Humans are apex predators. They can hunt in packs. They can hunt in pairs. They can hunt on their own. They're persistance predators, which is unheard of. They get stronger when they're mad or scared. They have this thing called 'body language' which acts like a type of hivemind, even if they'll claim it isn't. And. They can see you. When you're not moving. They can still see you. If you ever find yourself in a fight against a human, for whatever reason? Run. Run as fast as you can. And hope, pray if you have a religion, that they won't follow.
