My Thoughts on "On Your Wedding Day"

There is probably that one person that would really makes us better. Someone who just passively makes you want to become someone else. It is probably something that every human being wants while living in this world. However, is necessary really that essential?

While watching a South Korean movie entitled "On Your Wedding Day" I saw how the male lead studied so hard so he can go to Seoul National University, which is probably an impossible dream for a delinquent. However it was achieved by my opinion through hard work and sheer dumb luck.

As I watched through his efforts and life threatening ways to get into a realistically difficult college it was clear to me that he did it for one person, his first love.

Was he successful? Yes he was!

Did it matter? No!

His real purpose was to go to that university to relit the fire of his love that went cold.

Was it lit? Unfortunately No!

Was his effort needed? Yes!

Was it really necessary? No!

I guess what is necessary is sometimes not really essential.

I think he can just go to that college with whatever inspiration he has as long as he knows what is needed.

Although, at the end, I guess the movie tells us that it was important that he meet her. I think they both had a part to play for each other's life. But ending up with each other seems improbable. It has something to do with the times they met and saw each other again.

Kudos to the movie though for reminding people of a feeling that might have been lost as you grew older.

Bored at Home

It may sound absurd but your day has turned into night. You sleep in the morning and you play at night. You are not even a call center worker. What is happening to you?

You used to wish that you be given a long break because you have been working for almost 17 years now. Before, your schedule was work, school, and home. If there was a project that would be inserted anywhere in between but nonetheless you were working for a very long time. 

Right now, you are given that wish. Despite the fact that the current COVID-19 Pandemic is swinging its death scythe around the world you are still resting at home. Probably, you are at an almost hiatus for one month already. That is already a long enough rest for you.

However, knowing you, being stuck at home is going to make you go crazy. It will bore you like hell. No games or even movies can cure that because despite people knowing you as a homebuddy you are an innate traveler. You are someone who really likes to be outside. 

However, frustrated you are, you should somehow plan your escapade after this is all over. The mountains is probably your target location. It will be a place you would want to go after all of this.

God is Not a Dictator

Recently, you chatted with someone who had a birthday. She was a friend from a long time ago who you haven’t talked to for quite some time. You greeted her a happy birthday and asked how she was and if she was married. It is actually a common query for people your age but to your surprise her answer was “In God’s Will”. 

The reply probably triggered you because it implies that God is a dictator. He can be but you never thought God was someone who forces his will on others. You know the story of why a certain someone is running hell  now because he was jealous or what people have, free will. 

The few things in this world we never really had a choice are our parents, the day we are born, our sex and our names. If you had a choice your name would have been a cool historical name like Caesar, Augustus, Taejong, and etc. 

Marriage will always be a choice just like how we choose who went to have a relationship with. It might be fate that people meet but it would be choice that people stay and leave. 

You probably don’t have a choice all this time because until now you are still single. You can’t seem to get away from that slump which is your relationship. Or are you just an unlucky bachelor whose life is meant to be filled with bitterness. 

But nonetheless, Marriage is a choice. You can never  blame God if you are not married or you are not in a relationship. There are over a billion people on earth and I don’t think God has a fault on why you are not married. God already gave you your life. It is very shameless to hope that God included an entire package.

Finished Watching “My Country”

Watching a Korean period drama is really interesting specially the part where one of the antagonist has a plot and temporal armor. That means the depicted antagonist is a known historical figure that will not ever die because history is already set.

My Country: The New Age is a story of a man whose father was betrayed and was sentenced to death. His son and daughter lived and the story starts there. Unfortunately, one of the characters of the story is Yi Bang Won. People of South Korea know him as King Taejong. You see where I am going here?

I love history and as a KPop fan I read a lot about Korea’s History. Watching the drama until the end is like watching a show knowing what is going to happen.

That is why watching the main character’s strong characteristic but weak resolve irritates me. Now, I understand that no matter how powerful you can be but you won’t even use that power either carelessly or responsibly you will end up dead.

I think being a leader during those times is a position with the inevitability of blood and tears. Sometimes, I wonder why everyone wants to  covet such lonely position.

King Taejong will probably be remembered as a ruthless leader but he definitely changed how things worked during the Joseon era. But those changes are probably the results of countless people’s lives including the innocent and those that seek the throne.

I enjoyed the show though. I admire King’s who are ruthless but are progressive and great. I for one understand that the end does not really justify the means. So But in modern times I think we need a King like Taejong.

I have to say this though... Kim Seolhyun was so breath taking in the show. She really did gave justice to her character as Han Hui Jae.

Fare thee well Hara

You loved KPop for a very long time. Although in 2007 you still considered it your guilty pleasure. You can’t even connect their faces to their names. Until now, you probably still would like it. However, there was this South Korean variety show that really made you confident about being a KPop fan and that was Invincible Youth. 

You wrote this to remember that very first person that you stan. The very first idol that made you say KPop is probably what you’ll be listening until you are old. Her names was Goo Hara a member of the group KARA!!!

She was a bubbly, smiling, hard working and a competitive girl who was always pretty even without make-up. She was the type of girl you’d probably love to become your friend. At the time you should remember that she was always dancing to their hit song Mr. Mr. which was not the title track of their album. She would dance their “butt dance” and then later on dance to Lupin which also became their greatest hit. 

If it weren’t for Hara, you would have probably just play games and never get to know this KPop world that fills you up with fun and sad scenes. It is all thanks to Goo Hara. 

Then on the 24th of November, she died. She probably was so depressed and could no longer take that step every depressed person make every day just for people to see they are happy. She was betrayed by someone she loved, her boyfriend and her friend, Sulli, another idol, killed herself, as well. She had malicious haters who probably added fuel to the fire that was eating her up inside. She broke and her mind bereft of resilience could no longer conjure up a defense. 

You wished you could’ve saved her. But you knew it was impossible. So just remember her for now as that the same person you once saw in that variety show. The girl named Goo Hara!!!

The Geniture Proximity

After a few sad movies and forgotten words it came to the man that he has almost forgotten those words that would have given him acknowledgment that would make people believe he is a genius. It seems that what he wants to acquire can no longer be stored by his storage unit. Like all hard drives he either needs an update or an upgrade. However, in this world and time it can never happen. Hence, he made this blog so he’ll have with him a pensieve. 

It is the man’s assumption that stories written here will enlighten his confused mind. And, that no matter how blank and white he thinks life is, he was always a man that knew where the pens are hidden. This is pen that will restore the empty spaces of that man’s storage. 

In the hopes of not being forgotten someday, his storage seems archaic but it is pretty much effective.

To the man who is reading the title says it so and indeed your birthday is near. You should plan it out cause on the 19th you will always end up just staying at home playing games. Go out and get a date. Go out and eat even if it by yourself. 

Fill your life with gratitude and not regrets. Always remember that your life may have been both sad and happy but it was worth living it.
