ever since i saw someone point out that the yellowjackets fandom focuses more on the sapphic headcanon ships than the real, canon, existing couple of lesbians i can't stop thinking about it.

like i get wanting to talk about jackie and shauna, i love them too. i love lottie, nat, yeah. i get it but if you talk about lesbians on the show and don't mention taissa and van, i think you should. if you talk about gay theories but dont talk about coach ben i think you should. they are an important part of the show, and you may find you actually can enjoy real lesbians kissing and loving each other without having to make theories.

sometimes people on the yellowjackets fandom get so caught up in trying to justify their lgbt headcanons that ignore the confirmed lgbt people on screen and that makes me mad

in the pilot tai tells shauna “i didn’t mean to hurt her”

shauna gives this sort of nod and half smile but she has an odd look. im not sure whether i think she doesn’t believe tai, or she doesn’t *want* to believe tai. maybe shauna is relieved allie is out of the game.

i’ve been thinking a lot about the 5 stages of grief and how they show up in yellowjackets - nat with denial (about travis), shauna with anger (about jackie), shauna with bargaining (about her baby), travis and misty with depression (about javi/nat), and lottie with acceptance (about laura lee).

i’ll make a full post about this after s3, but i’m really intrigued to see how these progress, especially with javi and nat for travis and misty, in the next season !!

honestly my favorite thing about yellowjackets is the incredible way it humanizes all it’s characters

ive been shauna’s number one hater since day one, i had zero sympathy for her and i absolutely hated her (especially adult her)

but i just got to the baby episode, and the episode after that where she takes care of that goat and you know what, holy shit. i understand her so much.

it makes so much sense the way she treats callie and jeff and just everyone, shes scared of attaching herself to anyone. also the scene in the shed where shes begging for jackie to come and that she needs her? damn. ok yeah bitch. i understand exactly why you are the way that you are

im seeing a lot of new yj accounts pop up today, most likely cuz of the tiktok ban, so hello and welcome have fun!

the other day my therapist called me out on playing my cards very close to my chest and she said im tricky for her to figure out because i don’t let people in.

and then she said “it’s okay, i don’t judge you for being closed off. figuring you out is my favorite part of this job.”

ok i haven’t heard anyone else say this so im stepping up cuz someone has to!

jackie could be gender-fluid.

every time i see someone talk about how jackie expresses herself they use very binary terms. jackie presents herself either strictly femme *or* masc. jackie identifies as either cis femme *or* trans masc.

its 100% ok to headcanon a character however you’d like, cis femme and trans masc are both valid and awesome identities! but some people don’t fall into the binary like that and that’s cool too! jackie wears a very wide range of clothing. she wears a lot of traditionally femme clothes, and a lot of traditionally masc clothes.

now i will concede, this may not mean anything. in fact, i personally don’t associate clothes with common gender norms. my expression is very fluid (i wear basically anything, no matter how society traditionally labels it) and i don’t feel that the clothes i wear are at all representative of my gender.

that being said, i also understand that i am one person. and a lot of people *do* associate clothes with gender. which is also ok! and so my point is, jackie rocks a sexy little dress and she rocks a cute button-down tee and wide-leg shorts. and i feel like that doesn’t necessarily scream binary.

i don’t know if i hc jackie as gender-fluid or nonbinary or anything at all really because i usually don’t personally happen to hc characters’ gender very much. i just have seen a lot of discussion implying that she must be one or the other, femme or masc. so i want to say, she can be both, or neither, and that is okay too. there’s a whole world of gender out there and literally everyone experiences it differently and it is much more than “this or that”. so i just wanted to add that to the conversation!
